  • Sri Mahalakshmi is venerated in various religions as the Goddess of auspiciousness, fortune, happiness and well-being. She is omnipresent on temple walls, pillars, lintels, niches and also in homes and society and community. Lakshmi is identified not only as the wife of Vishnu (Shakti energy) but also as consort of Surya (Sun god), Prajapati (the Creator), Dharma (Virtue), Indra (symbol of royal prosperity), Kubera (the god of riches) and Bali (the pious and powerful monarch). This talk will discuss various forms of Laxmi, especially Gaja-Lakshmi across in various parts of India-Asia.
