Great game by two great teams. NDSU had the better QB and that ultimately was the difference. Great content and coverage of FCS football Sam. Always enjoy your insight and opinions. Keep up the great work!
Ndsu played a great game, the bobcats choked multiple times. They played well a couple of series but ultimately made multiple questionable coaching decisions.
Yes, MSU had a risky decision there at the end of the 1st half but their coaches did a great job at halftime drawing up some stuff to get them back in the game. Not many teams and coaching staffs could do that against the Bison. A lot of teams would kill to have MSU coaching staff. Are they perfect no, but no coaching staff is.
@@lyndonmodin7794ndsu had msu scouted up well. MSU was not prepared for the game. Ndsu knew what was coming in certain situations. MSU was predictable and it showed up in key moments of the game. I understand sticking to what got you there but when a team has 3 weeks to dissect you have to bring in new schematics. It’s chess not checkers.
Having 2 coordinators leave after the game shows the distractions that were being applied to the msu coaching staff. Not a good look at all. How much effort do you put into a job you know you’re only going to have a few more days at? Energy was being put into the new opportunity not being 100 focused on the task at hand.
🤔 I Don't Like To Place Blame, But Our Coaching Staff Made A Series of Terrible Errors/Decisions That Cost Us The Game! I Really Do Believe We Had The Better Team! ☹️
Play at the margins. MSU had a dropped easy TD catch. They still got a TD on the drive but it was 2-4 plays later. Those are valuable seconds (minutes?) Later in the game. But be careful with counterfactuals. Decisions are made with the information at hand. I think NDSU went into a "Lets get this game over as fast as we can" mode in the second half. Prioritizing running as much clock as possible and forcing MSU to use clock too. If the score is different the tactics used may be different too with unpredictable results. As for the "go for it" just before half it is just as plausible to say if they don't get it they're down 17-3 "at worst." If they do get it and acore a TD, or even field goal, they can come out and score a TD out of halftime and it is a 1 score game, possibly with MSU ahead. Remember, we're in the world of made up results. At the time im going, "just punt it" but just because it didn't work doesn't mean it was the wrong decision without the benefit of hindsight. Remember, at that point Vigen is probably trying to do all he can to get some offense going. He had only 2-3 possessions in thr 1st half, I believe. If youre looking st only getting 3-5 possessions in a half there may not be time to punt if you're in plus territory.
How about all the coaches that have come from the Craig Bohl coaching tree? Wasnt Craig Bohl a defensive coordinator for Tom Osborne’s Nebraska teams, so that is probably the mentorship where it all came from. You listen to these coaches talk and they are so damn impressive. And then NDS use quarterback coach, that you hardly hear anything from. His first quarterback won like four national titles, and 48 or more football games, and then the next three are in the NFL, and now Cam has a shot.
Montana St hasn’t faced adversity except against New Mexico. Tommy is a great “athlete” but Cam was the better Quarterback and should have won the Walter Payton Award. Montana St was over hyped and didn’t meet the expectations of the media. Montana St met their Boogeyman AGAIN and got punched in the face in the first half. They did put up a fight but NDSU knows how to control the clock and pinned them down at the end. You only have to win by one. NEVER BET AGAINST THE BISON or you’ll be ran over.
Tommy was the better quarterback throughout the season, more total TDs more total yards, fewer interceptions. It was close but Tommy deserved the Walter Payton. Bison took that personal and used it as motivation.
Typical reaction. MSU was over hyped. They were nothing.they never faced adversity. Play them again! Best two out of three! Best three out of five. What would the reaction be if NDSU lost? Two great teams!
@@JackMackenzie-pm6xg I was talking about the point Michael made about who should have won the WP, anything to say about the QB stats comparison which would justify Cam winning that award? He did win the award he deserved and would obviously rather have Championship Game MVP.
@ if Bobcats won, I would have applauded them. I can’t lie, I thought MSU was going to pull it off. I respect Coach Vigen and appreciate how hard he is working to get Montana State to the promise land. Possibly in the next few years. Bobcats had a great year.
@@JackMackenzie-pm6xg and just to be clear the most adversity MSU faced was against a team they beat 31-17, South Dakota, which beat NDSU. So were they over hyped or did they not face adversity because they got too used to handling business with ease? Hard to be both.
The commentator and sound panel was ndsu for sure they did there best to give ndsu an edge. He helped control the energy and flow of the game in certain situations. When the cats were on offense they blared music till they hiked the ball. When ndsu scored or got first down he was over elated and when the cats did the same he was monotone and uninspiring. Glad the game is going to Chattanooga. Fuck frisco, cats lost but the point of a neutral field is to not give leverage to either team. Cats fans outnumbered ndsu 11000 to 7000 for sure. Quite int the crowd was a point of emphasis.
👨🏫 Ron's 1st Take: 1.) You Have No Defensive Player in The Middle of The Field, So NDSU's QB Can Easily Run For a 65 Yard TD Unchallenged? 🤪 2.) You Choose To Kick a Field Goal on 4th and 4 At NDSU'S 12 Yard Line, But Then Go For It on 4th and 5 At Midfield Your Next Posession, Instead of Just Going Into The Locker Room and Getting Right Back Into The Game The 1st Possession of The 2nd Half? 🤯 3.) You Promptly Go Into Soft Coverage in The Last Minute of The Half, Let Them Get Easy 1st Downs While Stopping The Clock and Then Give Up a TD With 12 Seconds Left To Go? 🫠 4.) You Go 3 and Out, By Running The Ball, on Your 2nd To Last Possession, When Your RB's Had No Success The Entire Game? 😬 5.) Your Last Possession Was Your Last Possession Because You Took Too Much Time Before The 2 Minute Warning To Get The Play Call in and Wasted a Timeout? 🫣 6.) You Didn't Have a Punt Returner Back at The End of The Game, To Give Your Team 1 Last Chance, Because You Didn't Want Tommy To Lose With The Ball in His Hands? 🤨 7.) Simply Put, The Bobcat Coaching Staff Didn't Have Their Team Ready To Play in The 1st Half and Made Some "Boneheaded" Decisions That Cost Us The Game - That is "The Sad Truth"! 😢
@@RON-m8c well stated Sir. An evenly matched game based on stats; however, just a few (7) play/mistakes/decisions were the ultimate reasons why NDSU won. This experience for the Bobcats will help them get to the top in the future. Just not this year.
