    Predicting this channel to hit a 100k soon! 🎉 Amazing content. I recommend adding timestamps to the video.
    Also, our hydro bill is included in the rent at 16 yonge st :)

    Immigrants have sadly been conned and sold a lie that is even more harder to make it in this country. Many of my friends are Indian (best friend is Punjab). Your wife reminds me of mine when she says she doesn't like to skip out on some of the nicer things. My wife is of Indian ancestry and we live in Mississauga. Someone else said in the comments that this video will blow up and it will, just watch. Its a hot topic right now about the affordability to live here, the politics, and more. I'm not originally from the Toronto area but have been down here for 20 years now. I'm originally from norther Ontario and there's LOTS of Indians living up there now. Great video, Akash.

      So true! There are so many immigrants who land here expecting the best but end up doing odd jobs or settling just because they weren't well informed or, like you mentioned, they've been conned into traveling here. I really do feel for them and their families.
      And thank you for sharing your story, Chad! I see that you've been on TH-cam for a while now and you're doing really well for yourself! Kudos! 🙂

      @@AkashDamodaran thank you sir. Yeah I'm old dinosaur on this platform but the channel is not all that big. I do what I want and not what everyone else is doing. To be big in my line of TH-cam you have to the most popular stuff which is not me and you have to also get younger and more attractive women showing their cleavage or talking dirty. I'm 47 and married, I don't want people like that around me cause I'm old and miserable, LOL. If you and your lovely wife would ever want to do a video, I'm down for it. I live in Mississauga right across Square One.

      And yes, I completely get what you're talking about and the slippery slope of Social Media! :)
      And sure thing, Chad! Will take you up on that offer once I've found our footing here with this channel. Cheers! :)

    I observed that you don't have a car which seems like a huge saving. How is your experience in winter without a car? Is your building connected to the PATH?

    • @PukuBuffet
      @PukuBuffet 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The whole point of living in downtown area is to avoid the costly aspects of your daily methods of transportation, whether that be with respect to time and money. If you live near the core downtown area, one doesn't really require a car in Toronto. By the way, have you heard of the traffic congestions that happen during rush hours? It's only gotten worse over the past few years.....

    • @AkashDamodaran
      @AkashDamodaran  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup, not having a car has definitely saved me a ton, both in terms of money and time. If you're living in Downtown, I would highly recommend foregoing a car; it's going to be one of the biggest liabilities weighing you down.
      And my experience in Winter has been completely fine; it doesn't snow as much as it does in the GTA but overall, I've not had any serious issues not having a car. And no, my building is not connected to the PATH but a 5 min walk from my place and I can enter the PATH 🙂

    Utilities coming to around $70/month for 1 bedroom condo at the Well.

    • @PukuBuffet
      @PukuBuffet 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Well looks like a cool complex, with first class venues- I've been to Prince St. Pizza so I'm very familiar with the place. One bedroom studio/bedroom is around 2200-2500/month which is around the average for downtown area. But 70 dollars utilities is very cheap- some apartments, like where I live, works off of secondary power grids which hike the price to be around 150/200 per month for a studio! Downtown area is looking to enter a slump, so we will see.....the well seems pretty cool though.

    • @AkashDamodaran
      @AkashDamodaran  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Whoa! That's considerably lower than what we're paying. Interesting! Thanks for letting me know! 🙂

  • @seanhellmann7482

    You lucked out with a desperate landlord that discounted the rent. You are probably paying 500 to 800 dollars bellow market rent for a 2 BDR unit DTown Toronto. 75 to 100 dollars per week for two people for food is not logical unless you do not eat meat. With 5500 dollars a month in India you could have lived like a Princes and a Prince in better weather and with a live in cook/maid. Toronto is not a place for a good life it is a place for an expensive life and very limited value for your dollars spent.

    • @AkashDamodaran
      @AkashDamodaran  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I can understand the frustration, especially knowing the current economic situation and living expenses here but maybe these points can help:
      1. We actually moved out of the place that's shown in the video recently to a bigger unit in the same building and ended up paying lesser rent. And there are numerous units in the same building and around here around the same rent that we're paying. So I don't think we got lucky because this seems to be the market price here 🙂
      2. It's funny you say this because I eat some form of meat, chicken or protein everyday. Can't do vegetarian food 😅 But you'll see that the costs you're referring to is simply the general groceries or provisions we buy every week. The food aspect, like I mentioned, is covered under our pre-made meal services. So this $75-100 is on top of that 🙂
      3. Well, I actually prefer the weather here than India, to be honest. I like the cold and the snow and summers are a delight 🙂 In terms of comparisons, sure there are pros and cons and it comes down to your personal preference. Things are expensive here, for sure, but we love it here 🙂

    Did you try HelloFresh? How was your experience with it compared to Factor?

    • @AkashDamodaran
      @AkashDamodaran  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Why, yes we did. We tried both HelloFresh and Chef's Plate but didn't like it because it still required us to cook at the end of the day. Also, the ingredients come packaged for each dish, so unless you cook all of it right at the beginning of the week, the ingredients could get a little stale/old/rotten. So yeah, we're not going back to that.
      Fun Fact: Factor is owned by HelloFresh itself :D
