I know this might sound really really dumb, but I use my Into the lonely Woods deck for a shadow healing. In my work with it, I have always felt like the creatures represent a shadow aspect or a negative or uncomfortable feeling about myself. But they are really supportive as if to say not to be terrified because those shadow parts are still part of who we are. And we need to love them as much as the sunshine and rainbows. It's okay to comfort your shadow, and it's okay if your shadow needs extra care. But again, that's just me.

Thank you for your comment and please be reassured that no opinion is considered dumb on my channel. We all can learn and grow from each other's knowledge, wisdom, and experience. I love the way you explain how the cards support you and your shadow work. One of the ways I also use these cards is also for shadow work, as noted in an earlier response 5 months ago when Patty asked how they might be used. They certainly support this so well. You however have described their use in this space wonderfully and I love that! Thank you so much for sharing, it is truly appreciated.

Thank you so very much for doing this comparison. How amazing that Lucy and I did decks by the same artist. :D Dan May has a beautiful world of these Gentle Creatures. :D

I love the gentle creatures because I like better the art selection, and I love it that there is only one word to each card since the creatures mostly have no faces or emotional expressions, so one can project more on the cards without limiting it more with a full phrase. As someone who already works with cards I don't necessarily need the whole introduction and explanations in the Lucy Cavendish's guidebook, and it seems like there's more material on each card in the Arwen's guidebook than in Cavendish's. Though, I find the gentle creatures work beautifully for me even without using the guidebook. All in all, I really love the Gentle Creatures and I recommend it.

Can someone tell me what you use these cards for in a reading? Shadow work? or other topics/reasons?

Hi Patty, I usually use these cards when I feel drawn to them. I have a wide collection of cards, so each day when I am doing a daily card pull or journaling exercise, I allow the decks to choose me. What I mean by this is, I glance over them all and the one/s that catches my eye is the deck/s I will use. I have noticed though, that these decks seem to jump out at me and draw my attention when I am feeling introverted, reflective or desiring to curl up and be left alone. So basically when I feel personally drawn to go within, and both these decks are perfect for these moments.
I have found their messages to be very powerful, yet gentle, when I am using them to gain insight on things such as how or why I am feeling a certain way, or when I need a nudge in the right direction. They have also been great for me when I have needed to acknowledge my deeper feelings and thoughts or required a subtle push to see things from a different perspective. They definitely help me to get in touch with my shadow side so I personally have found that both of these decks work well for me in this space. I hope that answered your question 😊
