Monza's Vedano Course - The Post-War Monza F1 Layout

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 19 เม.ย. 2022
  • In 1938 the Monza Vedano Road Course was built, a 6.292 km layout that was not used for racing until 1948 due to the breakout of World War 2. Between 1948-1954, this layout was used to host Grand Prix racing at the Monza circuit. This layout was also used in the original F1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza dating back to 1950 in F1's inaugural season, until 1954 when it got replaced with the more well-known Road + Oval full course again.
    This Formula 1 hotlap is driven in Assetto Corsa with Charles Leclerc in the F1 2022 Ferrari F1-75 car.

    Forgotten layout. Many people think that the oval was always but it was destroyed after 2ww due the safety. In the mid 50s oval and parabolica made a comeback.

      @@BlocAutosport If you look on racingcircuits info, you can see that the pre-war oval was 2.79 miles and the post-war oval was 2.64 miles. The length was lost by moving the southern turn further north, and the new banking was, as you say, much steeper.

    • @cat_03tv
      @cat_03tv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of tracks back then were this narrow, simply because u actually raced on public roads with no changes made to the road surface whatsoever. Most purpose-built racing tracks just went with how wide normal roads were, so that might well be where that came from. I mean, hey, back in the day the roads themselves were narrower, as the cars weren't as wide as they are now and so didn't need that much space. Honestly, if u would take a car from back in the day, the track would seem quite a bit wider simply because the car itself was narrower

      @cat_03tv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kentozapater8972 not necessarily. Monza has always been used as a racing track, but the people who designed the track were most probably taking normal roads as inspiration. Also, many racing tracks back in the day originated on public roads and later became permanent racing courses. I'm not sure if Monza started out that way too, but it is likely that it was that way. Imola for example was that way too...
      And Gufo_Tave is probably also right in the way that this remake of how the original Monza was is not too good, but given the rather small amount of references u can use, that was rather probable...
