Watched you for 2 or 3 years now, first time commenting. I enjoy your videos because I travel to a lot of the same places you do, get the wanderlust from time to time, and feel the excitement of finding a great campsite. I retire in 3 weeks and will hit the road and I can't wait. No RV for me (yet), just tent, but I am well equipped for all conditions and camp in comfort. I also adhere to a beer-thirty regimen. Thank you for inspiring me to retire young!
Oh yes, you got the site we coveted when we were there. Not many empty sites during our time, so we ended up with a site 4 down from yours in the trees and a very limited view of that valley. Nevertheless, we loved Aguirre Springs and look eagerly to returning someday. Enjoy Rusty, you lucky dog. 🙂
A 10 ton bottle jack makes setting up about 95% easier than back and forth on blocks and boards. Pick it under the low side and add 2X's under the tire until you're level.
You should send a picture of your rig with the mountains behind it to the Casita Facebook group....this would be a great pic for their annual calendar!
Cool video, and amazing looking camping spot. You been here many times, like truck topper camping and prius camping in the past. Must be a great place, you keep returning 👍
I am really enjoying your travels Rusty. I've thought about exploring NM for extended periods once I am mobile. Still prepping, but getting very close. Glad to see you enjoying yourself. If possible, share a map view of your location to help us old folks better understand the geography. All the best. Keep up the good work and have a cold one, two, ....... for me.
I love your enthusiasm, your like a kid in a candy store. That's why I keep coming back to hear about Rusty's latest adventure or tales from the past. When you start acting old, I will jump ship.
Hi, Rusty. The view is truly breathtaking! Quick questions. How is the solar and battery running while dry camping? How often do you have to charge up and how long does it take?? Does the sunshine or cloudy days make a difference while charging when you factor in the high altitude??? Just a few nerd questions. Enjoy yourself, Rusty and as usual, thank you for sharing.
Yahoo! Your excitement is contagious, I'm excited and I'm thousands of miles away! I know where my sitting/rocking spot would be right next to the picnic table. Have a beer for me Rusty! 🍻 Cheers!
Nothing worse than a bad campsite!! Small tip for fellow viewers... I camp at state parks here in indiana. I visited all my favorite parks early this season while they was mostly empty. So i got a "campsite" map for each place and walked all the roads and found the sites i like the most and marked them down, took notes of shade and privacy. So now when i decide to camp i can go straigt to the office and ask for certain spots and not waste time driving and looking around..
Hi Rusty- great video and campsite. Hope to visit that area in the future. What do you think about that area in October? Also- it sounds like you love the electric jack. I am still debating. I pick my Casita up in October. Thanks for your advice as always
Damn Dude... you have flung a craving on this old south Texas guy. For a nickel, I'd come claim that site down hill from you. But, alas, got Dr appointments next week...

Beautiful site Rusty. Kind of reminds me of the mountains around Las Cruces. I guess it should, because they’re probably the same mountains!
Yep, AWESOME is the right word! Good on you, Rusty.
