I feel like I'm spending time with a friend every time you post a video. I love you and Jesus loves you. Edit: Did you know the blog has a link to your video now?
I interpreted the instructions as working the pattern for 80 or 100 rows of stitches, not until you reach 80-100 stitches in the final row. This would make sense if they're making a reticule, which would need to be longer to be of much use. That might also explain why there's expected to be a notable difference in size between 80 stitches and 100. And if they used a finer thread than our #3 cotton, they would have needed many more rows to make something big enough for use. That said, it's a very cute pattern, and I think I will make it myself! Thank you for sharing!
They also use the term rounds when they mean rounds so they would have said 80 rounds if they meant 80 rounds. Also that would be a huge fruggen coin purse!
Appreciate you ma’am… keep working hard. It IS appreciated. The 3 panel granny square poncho… waiting patiently on that re upload 😁 Love to Merlin and Vikings…🧡
Great pattern. I will definitely make it eventually. I have discovered that you have to take the supposed late history of crochet and 2 needle knitting with a grain of salt. Writers in the late 1700s to 1800s were being exposed to early anarcho-Communist propaganda through pamphlets, and they adopted a "progressivist" worldview that was also extremely ethnocentric. They wrote of knitting and crochet as though it were new, part of modern "progress" and they assumed the level of sophistication had been increasing progressively. Most writers assert that 2 needle knitting didn't exist before the Middle Ages, but in fact, there is a pair of 2 needle knitted socks among the ancient Egyptian socks found by archeologists. Because of the "progressive" political ideology, they ASSUMED the socks were naalbinding, and that's what they wrote, before textile experts observed the 2 needle knitted socks. Ethnocentric writers tend to extrapolate the customs and practices of their own region to every other land, assuming that all people used exactly the same techniques. Especially in textiles, because textiles are so perishable, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. By the archeological finds that do exist, it seems people of different cultures had different techniques and different levels of sophistication. Textiles have not actually progressed, but with industrial machines, textiles are becoming more plain. If you had made that little purse with white or blue silk, as an affluent Victorian lady would have, or fine, green wool, as a farming woman would have, it would probably knock your socks off.
I used to wonder how my son could sit and watch people gaming for hours. Now I find myself doing just that with your vids! I love history, all things vintage and now crocheting and knitting. Your channel checks all the boxes! Thank you for sharing and God bless.
I love your videos and your mystery videos in particular. I also love History, I'm a fashion designer and I found these reeaaally interesting! Thank you for giving us so much and to share your findings ❣
I can’t remember exactly what website but I have googled that exact question before and found some very interesting websites/answers!! I highly recommend looking into it more it has a very involved history
wow i love your tassels, the purse and the way you interpreted the very first crochet pattern is fantastic, your understanding of vintage patterns is fantastic, iwill have a go at making the purse. thank you.
I can rewatch your videos 100 times. Full length 🤪Have you received my email with the step by step instruction on how to do a tassle? Keep up the great work!!!!💜💜💜
I just posted a video with my take on this pattern and linked yours in it. Next Wed, my video on the next pattern will also come up and you are linked. This one we did very similar but next weeks we went in different directions. I love seeing the different takes on the same pattern. Thank you for the inspiration.
There are lots of lovely Irish lace videos on TH-cam I've been making it to try to reconstruct what my great grandmother made but I have to just figure it out cos none are exactly like my g grandma's patterns. I do not know how she made whole rolls of lace edging. I make about 4 inches and I am so done!
I am wondering, especially after watching your other videos, if maybe the first ever "double crochet" was a stacked single or something like it? At least until someone discovered a faster way to lengthen stitches, thereby giving birth to the double and treble crochet stitches we know today. Just a thought. 🤔😊❤
Still so mad about the bots. I can’t believe TH-cam can’t get a handle on it. How immoral and awful for someone to do. But! I will rewatch them. I love watching them to go to sleep, honestly.
@@justvintagecrochet Hmm, will they fìx it? It seems like they could see the fake hits and where they are from and remove those hits on your videos. You are a paying customer and they should take care of this.
@@mariankay6482 I reached out to TH-cam via live chat, they checked my channel and agreed that something is going on but they can’t remove the bunk views, they told me to private the effected videos and reupload them , they can’t do anything, and I’m shocked about that
@@justvintagecrochet I would try again and ask to speak to a tech specialist or a supervisor. I worked customer service for too many years. I never minded when someone nicely asked to speak to a supervisor when they weren't happy with my answer. And, they may 'not' be able to fix it but a supervisor might get you some kind of compensation due to it hurting your revenue. And, yes, you should ask!!! They may say no but... My big brothers says if you don't ask, the answer is always no. Best wishes. I'm praying for a good outcome. ❤️🙏
Rewatching as you reload. Hope it helps.
Seeing the photos of ladies in 1920s knit one piece swimsuits makes me hopeful you'll be crocheting one soon.

Purses were very small the further back you go. Tiny things! even mens purses were small. They're not hawking around a sack of coins during the day.
They also use the term rounds when they mean rounds so they would have said 80 rounds if they meant 80 rounds. Also that would be a huge fruggen coin purse!
There seems to be like 16 rows. 80 rows would be a shopping bag lol! Or a potato sack! Or to put a pig in! 😂
This is so fascinating I love what you do. And I look forward to a new year of new mystery patterns
Appreciate you ma’am… keep working hard. It IS appreciated.

Hey, i reached to you through IG.. Didn’t hear from you there.. But i have a request.. Can you do another tutorial on hand gloves? Please
Some people might not think it’s interesting but I sure do!! Great find! Thank you 😊
I love this little bag, very cute. Just wish it was more round instead of radish shaped-more like a U then a V.
Just make it wider faster by adding more stitches sooner.
I absolutely adore you so I will continue to watch all re-uploaded videos too

hiya corinne!! this is cute. would make a nice sachet door hanger, i think. xoxo
Very interesting thank you
That little bag is so sweet! I’m curious though….what do you do with all the vintage pieces that you make?
Thanks!
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much
That's adorable! omg
Interesting video
We think of crochet as very old, but the history is only 2 centuries. Compared with knitting and weaving it's very new.
It would be interesting to see some lace from this time or earlier to see what how it was made.
