    "Final Yugoslavia First League Teams: Where are they now?" would be interesting with Red Star winning the 90s CL but then falling from grace as a lot of teams in the region.

    • @najjace3123
      @najjace3123 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'll tell you what happened because I am from that region:
      Back in 90s when only 2 foreigners could play for a team, Red Star were so lucky to have the best Yugoslavian players in that time, because they were the richest one in Yugoslavia back in that time.
      As many people know Yugoslavia was country made by few smaller countries which are: Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia... So Red Star could bring any player from these territory, and back in that time football wasn't business as it's today, so it was easier situation for Yugoslavian football to reach the throne... SO THEY DID IT SOMEHOW.
      The problem with today's football in Serbia (I won't talk about Croatian or Bosnian football because I don't know their situation) is, many promise youngsters got managers who buy them everything they want: new shoes, outfit, cars, jewerly.
      And the other one problem is, teams in Serbia give so much place for their youngsters to show up, and many big and rich teams call them to join their's team.
      Youngsters, who are around 17-20 years, go alone usually in west football teams (Spanish, English, Germain, French, and sometimes Italian), instead of developing for few years and then go to big teams.
      They do that because of money, but its important to say that our clubs are in bad financial situations, so they very often sell players, they don't care what will happen with their future.
      Only those one who don't run for money, who don't flex on instagram, who really care about their career will become top players, but in Serbia 95% youngsters are in this category who don't care about their careers.
      You probably weren't informed that Serbia won World Cup in 2015 and where are those players who won it? I don't even remember 5 of them!
      It's the sad story of Serbian's football which won't change unless things in head of our youngsters change :(

      As a Lyon fan, I love that you mentioned Juninho & Govou and as a diehard Maccabi Tel Aviv who's a season ticket holder, I love that you mentioned Victor Enyeama. Enyeama signed for Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv in 2005 before joining Hapoel Tel Aviv (our bitter and other city rivals) in 2007. A season after he signed for Lille, he came back to Israel, but on loan to us this time, so he completed his tour of Tel Aviv and was very fucking good that season. He was also really good against Messi in World Cups for some reason.

    "Streets wont forget" is basically
    1.a player who's talent was never giving sufficient recognition, a player who was underrated by most considering how "special" they were
    2.a player who excelled in specific areas compared to the average player for example (great dribbling ability or unique technique)
    3.a player who consistently played at the highest level and always won the highest honours but never got the credit because they were always over shadowed by "better" team mates

    I was fortunate enough to watch some great football in Spain during the 00s. Of course the Barca greats (Xavi, Iniesta & Messi) stood out. But so did Dani Guiza for Mallorca against Madrid (!) in the season where he netted 27 goals. Frederic Kanoute during his years at Sevilla. And, of course, Guti. Honestly, if anyone deserves the much-maligned moniker of 'underrated' it's him - saw him play twice at the Bernabeu and he was an absolute magician

    Hello Alfie!
    Talking about Italy, some other players who could apply to this definition are:
    - Bruno Nicolè (a teenage star who scored two goals on his international debut, he didn't manage to show his full potential anymore and retired at 27 years old, even though he's still the youngest goalscorer and the youngest captain ever of the Italian national team);
    - Gastone Beàn (a deadly centre-forward in his years with AC Milan, he was less prolific but still consistent for the rest of his career, despite having an extremely disappointing international career);
    - Giacomo Losi (one of AS Roma's first legends, and the third player with most appearances for the team behind Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi);
    - Edwin Firmani (Charlton and Southend fans probably remember him, he's the only Italian international ever to be born in South Africa and he scored an avalanche of goals while playing for Sampdoria, Inter Milan and Genoa);
    - Antonio Juliano, Giuseppe Bruscolotti, Moreno Ferrario and Marek Hamsik (only the former and the latter got their chances with, respectively, Italy and Slovakia national teams, but they all have been iconic players for Napoli);
    - Marco Nappi (a good striker despite not playing in Serie A for a lot of years and never winning a cap for Italy, he went "viral" after seal dribbling opponents while playing for Fiorentina against Werder Bremen in 1990);
    - Basically the whole Hellas Verona squad who won the Serie A title in 1985, including his manager Osvaldo Bagnoli;
    - Ricardo Bocalon (he never played at the highest levels, but he experienced his peak in terms of goals scored and performances between 2013 and 2018, and he played a pivotal role in Alessandria's historic journey to Coppa Italia's semi-finals in 2016);
    - Fabio Borini (once an interesting young prospect and a sensation for Sunderland, unfortunately he won just one cap for Italy and had several physical struggles since returning to our country, but he has kept showing glimpses of his talent with AC Milan and Hellas Verona: however, now he has left Italy again to join Fatih Karagümrük, in Turkey).
    At the moment, future candidates include Lorenzo Colombo from AC Milan, Junior Messias from Crotone, M'Bala Nzola from Spezia and Victor Osimhen from Napoli, but I hope they will eventually turn out to be... "full-time" stars! : D

    Dembele was one of the best we ever had at spurs. An elegant midfielder with unbelievable dribbling ability and the strength of a centre half but admittedly lacked goals and assists which was what caused him to be so underrated for most of his career, although he was noticed more in his last few years with us because he was controling games against big teams like juventus.
