  • We pulled home a forgotten about junkyard 1957 Chevrolet Belair that was last plated in 1979! Two of my boys age 8 and 6 help me put a fresh 355 Small Block Chevy and a 2 speed power glide in it creating it's first start in 39 years! Immediately after being refreshed and placed back on the road, I received an offer for the car and she had to go! She's currently over sea's tearing up asphalt and being enjoyed by its new owner. I'm glad we were able to revive another part of american classic car history.

My stepdad owned a 57 Chevy Bel Air 4 door when he married my mom. He had 1 son, she had 1 son and 2 girls, they had 1 son. With five of his, mine, and ours combined the much beloved root beer colored 57 Chevy was replaced with a humongous station wagon that had a rear facing back seat that folded down flat, and had a rear gate that you could raise and lower the window. With three row seating, the car was big enough to have its own zipcode, plus faux woodburl paneling to make it look classy. Wouldn't you know it, but that is the vehicle I learned to drive a car in during the mid 70's. It was white, so we called it the great white buffalo. I bought a 69 Impala 2 door coupe with the 396 big block motor, turbo 400 automatic transmission, and a positrac rear end. A pale green with a white vinyl top. What was the official factory name for that root beer colored paint? Or the pale green paint for my Impala? It had some fading of the paint so I am guessing. I loved that car. Thanks for any info you can provide.

The 6 had the radiator in front of the support since it was longer. We had to move mine to the rear with a couple of straps since it overheated. The original front motor mounts had to be shifted back to the rear holes for a v8. Also, the bell housing was different for a 6 to v8 swap.

Booootiful I will take two ! Way to go getting the kids to help when the car eventually ends up in the scrap heap you will still have the priceless memories of wrenching with your kids and believe me they won't forget it either. My pops and I used to wrench on whatever model Catalina he happened to own and he taught me more in the shade of that weeping willow tree he parked under than I ever learned in school. You are a uncommonly wise and very Blessed person. As my Dad would say ya got lots of Asphalt and blister sense. Keep making videos!

Damn that budget build engine rocks! Hellyeah man! I just did my first build, 350 bored 040 over, Crane blue racer cam, Speed pro flat top pistons, 193 "vortex heads, Hooker competition headers, edelbrock performer intake, Holley 670 carb, Accel HEI distributor, wires, and plugs. Firing it up this week on the ground, got a 350 turbo trans to go with it, and putting it in an 82 Trans Am I picked up with a blown engine and trans.
