One thing to look out for is the guest wanting to help when they don’t know what’s happening, I was the lead hand on a pipeline crew giving singles to the sideboom operator to lower the pipe when a newbie for no reason what so ever tried to adjust the cribbing and the sling jumped causing the pipe to bounce and at that moment the newbie lost his pinky, morel of the story is don’t let people around your work area that don’t know what you are doing reach in and remove cuttings.
I worked on a pipeline crew for about 10 years in the oil industry, saw lots of booms do many crazy things, we had one flip over on a slope and ended upside down wedged between two big boulders it saved the operators life he fell out between the them.
@@TheEddie1014 I agree, but it’s in our nature to want to help when we see something that needs to be done, for your visitors to be on the front line helping and they don’t know your procedures imo it’s a preventable incident waiting to happen.
I've practiced the smile at people for many years now and it works. I think it would be really neat to have a split screen with you and Mark synchronized so we can see both ends of the operation side by side. Bill

The saw mill business can get very dangerous in a hurry, but you guys watch out for each other and do a fantastic job. That nasty log was a liability as it sat. But y'all worked with it and got some lumber out of it, some of it looked good. But you couldn't add value to the center because there was no value there to start with. It's only valuecwas in firewood. The lesson is that it takes effort to add value, and knowledge makes it easier. I enjoy the Bus Motor Sawmill because I learn something every time.

Pat Mc lost his life when a sideboom broke loose and rolled down the mountain! No anchor point up the hill. 48% slope! 42” gas.

yeah we did leave a quarter of the log on the carriage, then cut it into firewood because it was so bad

Fire cherry.... Sounds good to me. One thing I notice about log yards is they get muddy. I don't how one combats that other than dry weather.
