    So I'll start by saying that I'm mixed Mexican & white. I'm a former sureno that became a Christian. I was an active southerner for my first 20 years in prison and a christian the last 4 years. I did 24 and been home for 5. Opening new yards was always dangerous for all sides. I opened Iron Wood, High Desert, and Salinas Valley. I also was on yards that turned from 3 to 4 in Corcoran. I respect that you said you didn't have any animosity towards those that were the so-called enemy. It was just business and real ones know that. In Corcoran SHU I had some black neighbors that were super cool. We played chess on the vent, slid eachother coffee & candy when our packages came, etc. But we both knew what we had to do if the doors cracked, we understood it was just business. I'm so glad that God changed my life and I was blessed to get a date & come home. God bless you bro🙏

    Every time these southerners talk on TH-cam they always talk about them rushing blacks & blacks taking the L. I know that ain’t happening every time lol

    • @1322jreg
      @1322jreg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It don't happen all the time but you got to keep in mind the system from maybe the mid-60s on purposely split up black inmates and start to transfer them and lower numbers plus there was a big influx of a Mexican southern Mexican population but it is even said by one of the Sureno that was in leadership said, "they always put the brothers at a disadvantage" you know what I mean. The dorm they would be outnumbered in the county and then on the yard they're outnumbered and you know me so it's like yeah might look like they always take the L upbut you know I mean they held their ground and they still standing and you live to fight another day ....but no not every time... but southern Mexicans still would fight back when they were outnumbered you know what I mean and so forth but no... if you noticed brother everywhere TV stories when there's like a gang warfare going on they always want to make it seem like the black is taking the the l or the victim the one that's victimized and that's not true at all every side loses they don't show our stories cuz they they they don't want the black men to have any hope or pride in itself they've been doing that for a long time ever since ever since there was a TV

    I wish we as black Americans were way more militant than we are. I feel like we are so accepting and welcoming of other races. not just on some prison shit, but slavery trained us to devalue ourselves. We should be just as violent and hostile toward other races as they are towards us. period

      @willatwood 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No disrespect in my comment but I'm trying to understand what you're saying. I agree totally that slavery was inhumane and it should have never happened. What is also know is that, aside from African slaves, there were white, Mexican and Indian slaves along with slaves from other countries that were brought to America. This wasn't no small number either. But I don't understand when you state slavery has trained you, as a person today, to devalue yourself. I'm sure you try to rise to your highest ability and I can't imagine you devaluing yourself because of slavery in the past. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @eddycarpenter8989
      @eddycarpenter8989 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@willatwood yes slavery was in the past but the multi-generational trauma and economic legacy of 400 years of slavery, 90 years of jim crow, redlining, and mass incarceration are still prevalent today. As far as "White, Mexican, and Indian slaves" that is revisionist history and totally inaccurate. Comparing a handful of other races that may or may not have been enslaved to hundreds of years of documented chattel slavery of one specific group is insane. If you want to learn more about this, you should read a book called "Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome" by Dr. Joy Degruy

    • @michaelr.4878
      @michaelr.4878 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are delusional. Yes, there are dicks out there. But 99% of people are accepting of others. More than 99%. No one is trying to hold black people down. You don't need to 'fight back'...because there is nothing to fight back against. Slavery was a long time ago. Jim Crow days were a long time ago. You didn't live through slavery. Your white neighbor didn't own slaves. Give it up. Don't forget it. But get over it. We learn from our history.

    Bro, a word of advice. Stop deviating from the topic with irrelevant details. It causes the viewer to lose interest. Other than that, good video.
