This song came out 2 years before I met my future wife. I have always and absolutely loved this song since day 1. Here it is now, after 30 years of marriage with my wife, the lyrics to this song have more meaning than ever before. Didn’t know it back then…but I sure know now. Happy 30 years my Love! "Mistakes are a part of lifes imperfections." My favorite verse in this song, It never gets old listening to this song. Such great memories I have of this song. Thank you level 42! -Steph
"Something About You", as sung by Level 42 in 1985, stands as a masterpiece that effortlessly intertwines exquisite music, poetic lyrics, and mesmerizing vocals into a harmonious symphony that continues to bewitch listeners today. The song's magnetic allure lies within its infectious melodies, which blend the sweetest strains of pop and funk, casting a spell on our hearts from the very first note. As the rhythm takes hold, it compels our bodies to sway in unison, surrendering to the undeniable charm that emanates from this timeless composition. Within the depths of "Something About You" lies a lyrical tapestry that unveils a tale of transcendent love. The words gracefully dance through the air, entwined with the singers' heartfelt delivery, creating an ethereal connection to our very souls. It tugs at our heartstrings, evoking a symphony of emotions - yearning, passion, and an undeniable sense of connection. The vocals, gentle and tender, caress our senses, while the harmonious blend of voices elevates this piece to a state of sheer musical perfection. As the decades pass, "Something About You" remains an eternal testament to the power of music to touch our souls and ignite a flame within that will never burn out.
I'm 15, and I just bought the 45 of this song at the mall, and I'm playing it over and over in my room. I'm 51, and I hear this come over the grocery store's muzak system. I'm rushing home to play this over and over on TH-cam. It never gets old.
I Love this song right here. Philippians 4:8 Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise, dwell on these things.
Is it so wrong....try singing this. It's right in my range, the voice arrangement on this is fantastic. I can't believe I'm still jamming this. I'm glad I am
I was 25 when this came out... i wanted a sign that my mom was with me and this came on the radio... i played this all the time and she wondered if I knew any other songs, I forgot about this song, so thanks mom for bringing a memory back and to remind me it's okay to human and make mistakes!
This song never fails to raise the hair on the back of my neck as it dives into that chorus. And that guitar break is one the great minutes of crazed romantic guitar anarchy of the last 30+ years.
Thank you for providing the lyrics! I have always loved this song - it lifts my spirits. But I was never sure of the words. Now I know and it adds meaning to my life. Cliché, I know. But true! 🥰
threre are many great songs... this is a song of love. the spirit feeds on the sincere yearnings and experiences of the soul. Truly moving and timeless.
So here is what I personally take from the beautiful lyrics in simple language. I think the song has a very good message: When we met I felt it was fate. Our romantic relationship was so loving. I was shocked that over the years we sometimes couldn't stop ourselves from manipulating and hurting each other. We naturally forgave each other because real love doesn't work like a romance novel. Real love is hard work. You are still the one for me baby. If for some reason we couldn't be together, no one could claim that we didn't experience the full range of emotions people feel in romantic relationships. Of course, our love has evolved from a dreamlike romance into one that emphasizes loyalty and commitment, which is natural after years of being together. Still, I know you are the one for me. I still wouldn't want to spend my nights with anyone else but you. Period.
Best friend and I a month ago went to the bar his brother works at. Were 38 years old and were the oldest in there. There was about 70 people in there and 60 of those were under 25. The DJ kept playing rap. When I requested classic rock he said he had 1 song Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" It came on and the place went crazy hollering and clapping. They all knew the lyrics by heart and sang along with it so loud it was louder than the DJ's sound system. Needless to say I was in complete shock.
My first real love, so bad it hurt hahaha! ' 85 I was a mere 23....no idea what I was doing....The One That Got Away.... that's ok, still great memories...managed to find some more good ones ;) and I'm still jamming this nearly 40 years later
Ooh ooh ooh ooh... ooh ooh, ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh... ooh ooh, ooh ooh How - how can it be that a love Carved out of caring fashioned by fate Could suffer so hard From the games played much too often But making mistakes is a part Of life's imperfections born of the years Is it so wrong to be human after all Drawn into the stream Of undefined illusion Those diamond dreams They can't disguise the truth That there is something about you Baby so right I wouldn't be without you baby tonight If ever our love was concealed No one can say that we didn't feel A million things And a perfect dream of life Gone, fragile but free We remain tender together If not so in love It's not so wrong We're only human after all These changing years They add to your confusion Oh and you need to hear the time That told the truth Because there's something about you ( About the way you are... so right ) Baby so right I couldn't live without you ( I couldn't be without you here... tonight ) Baby tonight Ooh ooh ooh ooh... ooh ooh, ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh... ooh ooh, ooh ooh And there is something about you, yeah and I couldn't live without you Tonight
I remember when this was released in the mid 80s and it has been my fav 80s love song since then! The lyrics are 🔥 fire!!! They don’t make songs like this anymore In my opinion! Solid gold here!!!! ❤️😎🤘
I always love looking for songs i haven't heard in years and it's there you just have to hope the radio stations still have every song you can think of and can play it
The lyrics are so genius. They make you go into deep thought. There's a reason this song is still popular. This band so unique and this song is just one of their greats. This is on my playlist and its one of my "getting ready to go out songs". How can you not love it? Love Level 42!!!
Angela Smith I agree completely. I don't think they ever will eather. It's really sad because you and I know that this is real music and kids need to listen to something besides that crap they play today.
Im here because I'm part of the one and only great Generation X, born in the 70s.... and this song brings back a lot of GREAT times and memories in the 80s when there was still real music, when life was more fun and simple...lots of love and life wasn't so political...song has a lot of meaning.
this song is so timeless. It's as though it was just released. does not sound like an 80s song. im a late 90s kid and this song surprisingly is an 80s song. Wow!

I love this song and this from someone who grew up on early Brit rock .. like the song "There's something about this song" that makes me listen to it over and over again ... it's heartbreaking because love doesn't last forever but it's hard to let go of those you've loved as well .. we're only human after all
I totally agree with you, I really feel bad for the kids of today and what they have to look forward to as they reminisce (just as we're doing now) about their music as youths. There is yet some good news in this, some of our youth of today is listening to 80's & 90's music and liking it BETTER than today's crap. So hopefully, long live 80's & 90's music!! Nostalgia is a powerful weapon..lol.
Music lover from way back & hearing this song in a truck stop in Georgetown, Ky. I stopped walking, closed my eyes & swayed to the tune, proceeded back to my truck & downloaded it putting on a loop listening to it all the way to northern Ohio back to Memphis. Here I am again.

Agreed
I listened to this more than 20 times a day
West End Girls by PSB hits me nearly the same for some reason. I like the tempo on this better, though, and there's the element of truth, as well.

I'm 15, and I just bought the 45 of this song at the mall, and I'm playing it over and over in my room.
I'm 51, and I hear this come over the grocery store's muzak system. I'm rushing home to play this over and over on TH-cam.
It never gets old.
Absolute classic. Reminds me of Sunday bath night with Top 40 playing in the early 80's. And it still
f🤬king rocks!!!🤘🏽
Just heard this in the supermarket and I had to go ahead and punch it up ! Thanks for the memories
I Love this song right here.
Philippians 4:8
Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise, dwell on these things.
I could put this on repeat and never get tired of it. This is mine and my best friends song.
I don't tell anyone but mine too
Now have sex with the homies 😏
This is one of the songs that defined the 80's. Hearing it again brings back memories. Good times.
Is it so wrong....try singing this. It's right in my range, the voice arrangement on this is fantastic. I can't believe I'm still jamming this. I'm glad I am

This song truly is a masterpiece.
How....how can it be that something about this song is so beautiful and sad at the same time??
I am a HUGE 80s music fan and I am not shamed to admit it! This song along with "Lessons In Love" are great songs!
lvl 42 NOTHING BUT THE BEST
This song never fails to raise the hair on the back of my neck as it dives into that chorus. And that guitar break is one the great minutes of crazed romantic guitar anarchy of the last 30+ years.
One of the greatest songs ever💯💯💯
I was only 6 and I remember this song
The chorus really hits hard in this song. In my opinion, the chorus (should) be the climax to every song while the verses are the build-ups.
This is just a great song.
Is it so wrong. To be human after all
Thank you for providing the lyrics! I have always loved this song - it lifts my spirits. But I was never sure of the words. Now I know and it adds meaning to my life. Cliché, I know. But true! 🥰

This song takes me back to my youth.... Those were really the wonder years❤️
The 80s songs will live on forever because they sing to our hearts! Thanks!!!!!!!

A perfect example of how incredible the music of the 80's was and will remain so always. Level 42 Rocks!

Intelligent lyrics and the great Mark King on vocals and bass!
Timeless classic. Top 100 all time, all genres included.
Even country?
Ooh ooh ooh ooh... ooh ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh... ooh ooh, ooh ooh
How - how can it be that a love
Carved out of caring fashioned by fate
Could suffer so hard
From the games played much too often
But making mistakes is a part
Of life's imperfections born of the years
Is it so wrong to be human after all
Drawn into the stream
Of undefined illusion
Those diamond dreams
They can't disguise the truth
That there is something about you
Baby so right
I wouldn't be without you baby tonight
If ever our love was concealed
No one can say that we didn't feel
A million things
And a perfect dream of life
Gone, fragile but free
We remain tender together
If not so in love
It's not so wrong
We're only human after all
These changing years
They add to your confusion
Oh and you need to hear the time
That told the truth
Because there's something about you
( About the way you are... so right )
Baby so right
I couldn't live without you
( I couldn't be without you here... tonight )
Baby tonight
Ooh ooh ooh ooh... ooh ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh... ooh ooh, ooh ooh
And there is something about you, yeah
and I couldn't live without you
Tonight
