We experience this a few weeks ago. My husband got a promotion and the first thing we thought of was upgrading. We stopped it in time, thank goodness. Just remember to focus on gratitude. ❤
Great video ❤️ avoiding lifestyle inflation is such an important concept, if you choose early in life to keep your life simple and focus your spending on things like health and investing instead of unnecessary consumption the rewards will compound over time
I agree but to a certain extend. It is important to save and prepare for the future but we also need to enjoy the moment. We don't know what the future is made of and always saving for a potential future that is not guaranteed is , according to me, also not heathy. without going crazy; spending on experiences and occasional upgrade can make life so amazing without putting your finances at risk. in your example a new vacuum would make your day to day life way more pleasant and is not a huge expense. I feel this is a lot of people's risk : going too far the other end of the spectrum and only saves. I went too far on both extreme and honestly my life is so much better now that I found balance.
I totally relate to your issue. I'm now 6 months into my job, and I'd be lying if I said, tha lifestyle inflation hasn't affected me at all. But being aware of it is the first step and then actively pairing down and simplifying is the next. It's a neverending journey .)
hahhaha I'd love to meet more people like this as well! :) join this family, we are all on a similar path :) Check out my instagram, I'm more active there :)
I always find your videos so educational when it comes to minimalist living. You mentioned that you would like to invest more in your health, I am curious as a minimalist what is your skincare routine ? You are in you 20ties, have you started your aging skincare routine? I find skincare products realy expensive!
So happy you enjoy the videos! :) I currently don't use any anti-aging products, more preventative products like sunscreen and a brightening vitamin C serum (for dark acne scars). I personally love the ordinary products (affordable and clean ingredients) I agree that you could spend a lot on skin care, but I would focus on cleanser, mosturizer and suncreen, everything else is a luxury. Maybe choose one extra step (like a serum based on your skin needs). Here I made a skin care video, but it is somewhat older, and the routine has changed: th-cam.com/video/NqcPHjREev0/w-d-xo.html
Experience comes with age. You are too young to talk about retirement, about your retirement plans (in the first 3 minutes, you repeated the word "retirement" several times). From one job to another, from one age decade to another, priorities, successes change, but so does the opinion about life. I have changed in the last decade, willy-nilly. Stress with the thought of retirement leads us to the retirement of neurons faster! 😃 I'm older than you, but you see, I'm following you because I want to force myself to become minimalistic after a period of grief and excess. We are looking to socialize, this brings new ideas. Is great to be minimalistic, with a short plan, experience will beat genius.
I respectfully disagree, its proven that time is the best asset when it comes to retirement. You’re able to put away less in order to have the same amount as someone who starts later and has to put more. Plus, if your goal is early retirement in order to enjoy your life without work, its certainly better to start sooner rather than later. I think its about balance, and I feel like focusing on things that are important to her- retirement, sustainability, health, she is definitely prioritizing those rather than other things. It is important to enjoy life but ignoring the future doesnt do anyone favors.
It’s never too early to start thinking about and investing in your retirement. Compound interest works over long time frames and if you only start late in life it’s already too late to really profit from it.

how great that you caught your thought pattern in time :)
Focusing on replacing instead of upgrading is a great tip!
yes, I have to keep reminding myself not to upgrade! All the love
Happiness does not consist of maximizing pleasure. Happiness consists of tranquility.
yes! being content is so underrated and is a state we reach with a shift of mindset :)

Welcome to the channel ! ;) lifestyle inflation is something that affects almost all of us
I did this and now i regret very much, trying to go back to a more minimalistic life now

I agree that we shouldn't stress ourselves about retirment, but it's good to have a plan and goal to work towards :)
I guess, Silva means financially free. Then you have more choices to fulfill your dreams.
