Thank u so much ! We had at work an ATEM Production studio 4k and it stopped working. I ordered the power supply at Digikey (the link u posted it) plus the 2 days Fedex shipping and I got it the next day. I made the replace and it worked as new, definetly much better to do the easy repair than buying a new one for 3k. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the wonderful video and info. I also had no power issue and no powering through the xlr port. I was able to remove the power supply board without removing the back or sides. After removing and disconnecting the power supply board, i connected the 12.5v from my bench supply to the red and black wires of the power supply connector. Current limiting set around 2A, i was able to power on and not up, confirming bad power supply despite not being able to power via external xlr power connector. 😊😊😊
Wow our Blackmagic design ATEM control panel also stopped working, it looks like there's no power. Because I'm working at a huge multinational corporation, I wouldn't be able to fix it in the presented way, but still very useful information! Thank you for sharing, awesome video!
@@42PursuitI have fixed it! This company wouldn't spend a penny on replacing this piece of device with another one, so it needed some time, and my determination (my department is sooooo far from technicians / maintenance members), but it works now! I bought a female 4 pin xlr adapter from Aliexpress (~1.85 USD), and used our dead laptop's old adapter, found a guy who could solder at the company, and in 9months I fixed the device! Huge thank you once more for the great video, you're a legend! Have a nice rest of the week and don't stop sharing these types of tutorials.
Thanks for the video. I tried making the XLR option and it doesn't power on, only the fan goes. So I've ordered the internal part. I hope it's not more serious than that. Any other suggestions? or did I just do a lousy soldiering job (not my best skill)
Hmm, if you have a multimeter, check the output voltage of the internal power supply with it plugged into power (careful to not touch any exposed contacts on the 120V AC side). If it's 12v then unfortunately it's a different problem than in the video. If it's not, then there probably is some issue with the xlr cord you built.
Would you have any advice (direction) on repairing a TV Studio Pro which has had it's multi-view outputs go bad? Both HDMI and SDI multi-view outputs have garbage on them. You can see the divider lines but none of the content from any of the inputs. I've heard it may be solder joints that start to crack after so many times of turning on and off. Unfortunately, upon contacting Blackmagic, they inform me that, due to shipping and parts procurement issues (caused by Covid 19) they are not repairing their products at this time. Very frustrating. Any thoughts?
I haven't done that specific repair but have had some success repairing bad connectors. You can sometimes clean up bad solder joints with a nice fine-tip soldering iron by re-melting the solder joints where the connectors are soldered to the PCB. It does take a high level of soldering skill as well as often a good microscope as some of the pins are _extremely_ close together. Don't attempt this sort of repair unless the soldering skill is high as it can lead to shorts across pins which can damage components if done improperly. Hope that helps give some direction toward a possible fix. Best of luck!
Hi. I have a ATEM Studio PRO 4K which has a problem with the XLR audio inputs. When nothing is plugged it regularly produces a spike and sometimes some white noise. And when We send sound through from a mixer etc. the sound is very distorted and has a very weak signal. Any chance you can advise possible solutions?
Unfortunately I don't know that system through and through so can't advise possible solutions. I only opened it up and found the power supply fix was relatively straightforward so made a video on it. Sorry I can't be more help.
Hmm, only thing I'd say is to check the connector end to make sure nothing got bent in there, and check the solder connections on the board for that piece. Wish I could be more help!
@@42Pursuit from the outside it looks perfectly normal and clean and i have never opened it from the inside ps i don’t fully understand what did u mean by connectors
it might be the L1219A2 12G UHD Equilizer chip Had to replace one on our Studio 4k we didnt have a HD-SDI coaxial line surge protector on the input and possible static surge fried the chip. had it replaced and all was good.
I don't know why psu used in Blackmagic equipments are so low quality, all of them have issues in a few years, even those that aren't use that much. On Teranex mini they look like chinese psus, and with a lot of faults.

Ah, that's a bummer you wouldn't be able to fix it. I wish this could've been your solution!

@@wody21Heck yeah! Stoked you go it working!!!
What fan is that in there? I fancy swapping it out for a Noctua one but only if it's a straight swap like it was for my Hyperdeck mini.
Question mine doesn't work either through the 3 prong computer cable but can I just order the blackmagic power supply 4 prong and conected throw it?
If it's the internal power supply that went bad, then yes, the 4 prong power supply likely will be able to get you up and running again.

Hello, PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP. I HAVE 2 BLACKMAGIC ATEM TELEVISION STUDIO HD that won't turn ON
I included all I know about one fix for these switchers. If your issue isn't the one that's fixed in the video I'm not sure I can be any help.
