Now I can't confirm, but I don't think Phantasma is the inspiration. In Armored Core: Masters of Arena the final boss is Nineball Seraph, I think the boss in AC2 is just taking that boss and revamping it with new graphics. Not too sure yet as I haven't got onto the Gen 2 AC games yet. Glad you liked the video!
