  • The third and final part in our trilogy of videos about the North Norfolk Railway, probably our favourite heritage railway in the land!
On this day we went for a ride on the trains and had a really lovely time. We spent a lot of time watching loco movements from the picnic area at Weybourne, which was delightful.
    Locos in this video
    BR class 31: D5631
    BR standard 4MT: 76084
    GER Y14: 564

A really super video in one of my favourite places ever. I travelled the Poppy Line a lot when my children were younger (about 10 years ago) and miss those days of "excitement at trains" with them. Thank you for sharing, it makes me want to go back even more now.

Thanks so much. It really is a magical railway and I hope we have captured some of that in the video. Hope we can get back again this Summer.

We've travelled over quite a lot of the UK and visited all the railways in the South and many in the Midlands, but we'll keep coming back to the NNR! We've never been to Scotland though.

Another marvelous video Simon, well done! The engine that caught my interest was GER Y14 number 564 a typical locomotive that back in the days of steam would have been seen on goods trains almost every day, nearly every goods train in Britain were linked together with a simple three link chain as in those days the brakes were on the engine and the guards van this demanded great skill from the crew on the footplate especially if there were gradients. The old GER carriage number 7 was the basis for Henrietta in Thomas and Friends and it also starred in the 1953 comedy the Titfield Thunderbolt.
I also saw your video of the Bure Valley Railway as well, which believe it or not was established by BBC television presenter Miles Kington who narrated the steam days documentary series. If you didn't see it yet, I highly recommend you check it out.
Your channel is by far the best that I've seen of filming trains in Britain! Good on you mate!
