Testing like this is good, it give everyone confidence the item will work as designed. I design stuff and always appreciated full destructive testing, I could then sleep at night knowing all obvious failures had been caught. I'm jealous, someone in germany has this job!
Nowadays, they mostly do it on big giant machines that simulate those conditions, instead of actually putting a driver behind the wheel and beating the shit out of the car

I have a MK4 golf tdi, I ramped it off a bridge and came down so hard the oil pan hit the ground and knocked a giant hole in it. I stopped, got out and saw oil everywhere under the car and then turned it off. I called a buddy to bring a trailer, drove it up on the trailer and took it home. Put a new oil pan on it and it runs and drives fine to this day. They are tough cars.
I would still highly highly suggest going to mechanic and get that axle looked at immediately after that impact if I was driving that thing and it happened on accident
I want to see like a modern 2023 HD version using only brand new Volkswagens just so I can see the contrast of how immediately they will break compared to these older models

My mum now has something with a Renault engine. Nearly a year old, no problems. You don't pay extra for quality, you pay extra for VW's marketing budget. Sorry to break it to you.
VW Golfs don't have live rear axles. Also, every single car has a bad time. VWs, Volvos, Audis etc all break down. They're not perfect. Your evidence is simply anecdotal. Judging by you thinking that your Golf had a live axle really makes me suspicious about your knowledge on cars.
