I think what people don't see is that for AI/robots to become dangerous they don't have to "realize" anything or gain consciousness. Think of what AI in a computer game can do to an average player. Now transplant that primitive game AI to a real world and equip it with weapons and, most importantly, a way to repair/regenerate/manufacture more units. You can already become a victim like some of those people who try to stop some mechanical contraption spinning out of control - no real intelligence needed to be raped by a powerful machine.

@@manictiger Just going to point out and say... to an extent, it's easy to make a robot self balance, given you use something like the HTC VIVE's laser tracking, but it will by far not be cheap nor easy to build a robot that can stand on its own legs, given it's weight and how much power those legs will need to move as fast.. also, slap on some gyros, proximity sensors and some real time RQ code readers on a bot with some arduous (apart from programming and engineering) you already have everything for the robot to know when/where it is and what orientation it is. Also this might not count, but i have made a robot, in Space Engineers, using gyros, proximity sensors and memory banks.. and overall the hardest part was building the damn legs and getting the space needed to store all the 'brains' which i opt out to store sepperately and controll wirelessly with a Wifi mod.
