    So glad to see this review. I have been asking ever since you bought it hows it doing cause every time I go to Lows I want to buy one. The last time I went they had one left in a smashed box. I would have bought it. I had also seen others speaking of the throttle cable breaking but like you I do my own mechanical work on them. I have been buying residential Toro/Honda mowers since I started because its so easy to get parts and they are lightweight. Great review I am pretty sure I am going to get one.

    I have owned a TB360 (same model as yours-same model number) for 3 years now and love it. If I were to review it, I’d say exactly what you have said. The only negative thing I would say (so far) is that (as another viewer commented) the drive handle broke; it is, however, easy to replace. Thanks for the heads-up on the bolts holding the front end on-I’ll watch for this. I notice the left front wheel on yours is worn significantly more than the right one. This suggests, to me, that for whatever reason there is uneven pressure on the front wheels. Thanks for your super videos which I have added to my mower maintenance folder.

    I just picked up a Troy-bilt xp with the 4 speed, for 20 bucks, all it needed was a good bath and a carb clean, bag, side discharge chute, a very powerful, extremely nice running mower, I'm going to install a 8.75 engine I have laying around with keystart, that will make it a truly beastly mower..... Great video man.

The bag capacity is very little even for the consumer market. I actually ran over the bag by accident and now i need to replace the frame. 25 bucks or so. Overall i agree with everything you said. I came here looking for an answer as to why suddenly midseason it quit working. I believe it is a fuel issue and you mentioned that fix. I will try it. Thank you so much.

    He's stated as saying his TB360
    Has gone through hell. I'd have to say all troybilts are built to do so. I know someone who's troybilt lasted 22 years and never failed him until in gave out after hitting a tree root. I personally owned a TB230 and for a year and a half was the best mower I ever used. Again, until it gave out after hitting a big rock hidden in some grass. But all troybilts seem to love to last and preform well. With a bent spindle, my TB230 still starts. So yes, troybilts are built to last in my opinion

    I have the same mower for the last 2 years and I like that is lightweight and has an eager engine that rarely bogs down. It is a replacement for a very nice Honda HRX, but it weighed like 100 lbs and it mysteriously threw a rod, which is very rare. However, this mower is very cheaply made and the part where the engine mounts to the deck developed a crack and with use, the crack enlarged and the engine started to vibrate. The vibration took out the muffler where I lost a bolt somewhere in the yard and the remaining bolt broke off on removal. I have had to replace the blade adapter several times because the star erodes easily and the blade starts to loosen. Also the gas tank is very flimsy to the point where the cap will not stay on, there are no threads to the cap, just a couple of slots in the tank neck and tabs on the cap, so I have had to tie it down. Yesterday I easily replaced the engine with a Predator 172cc engine. I was leery about the 7/8 inch shaft and how the original blade adapter would fit. But it fit fine and the mower is back in business, but I can tell the 172cc engine is not as robust, although it is more solidly made, if that is possible. The old engine actually worked fine, but the base was too thin for durability.

    • @richardstade2907
      @richardstade2907 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have this mower and I repair lawnmowers. that noise you hear is the starter cogs. I took mine apart and cleaned it thoroughly. it's made from plastic. dirt builds up in the cogs and keeps them from retracting completely and they touch the flywheel. Don't try it yourself!!!! There is a powerful spring under the pulley and it can put out an eye if it comes unwound unexpectedly. But this should help your shop find the problem with little troubleshooting.

    Hey Dan, just got word from the repair shop that the crankshaft of my TB360 is bent after getting a root stuck between blade and deck. $522 to repair shaft and blade and stuff. It has been working great, and we have a lot of slope on our lot. Since this isn't available anymore, any thoughts on the best alternative for a new mower as similar as possible? It looks like most places are going with smaller Honda engines, and I am worried about with the slopes and the smaller engines. The price point/value was great with this, hopefully something out there is comparable. Love the rear wheel drive going steep uphill with the taller wheels. Also, the one step height adjustment. No. But you can purchase bronze bushings from a hardware store, drill out the plastic wheel for a pressed fit and install the bushings. when they wear out and the tramead is still good, just replace the bushings. if the tread wears out take the bushings out and install them on the new wheels to extend the life of the wheel.

If you would please make a vid explaining how FWD is superior to RWD when it comes to trim mowers I would love that....I sooo dont get why most cant get basic physics and how a FWD is soooo much easier to maneuver than a RWD. I get it that many use RWD as a prime mower, but as a trim mower it makes no---sense. I have a big lawn and have a rider, I use the push/FWD to hit the areas I cant get with the rider. I have a similar Troybuilt machine with the Honda engine. I wouldn't buy another one for 2 reasons. 1. The single lever height adjustment gets stuck and is really hard to free-up . I just leave it alone now. 2/ when I put the bag on (properly) I always get grass in my face. The seal is not good. The. Machine works really well, starts first pull after winter, and I'm sure it will last me for many years as I take care of my stuff, but for those two reasons I wouldn't get another one. (Homeowner- not business)

      Ya, It is weird to put plastic there. They did same thing with the 28 inch model Troy Bilt sells

    I have this troybilt 360 mower and hate it with a passion. It's been a terrible mower as far as issues since year one. never again will I buy a troy bilt.

    TB360 mower is junk. Used it two summers and the same thing broke with the cables on this due to plastic components. The pull rope also broke. Carburator gummed up as well after two summers. This mower blows. too many plastic parts

      Sounds like user error to me! Yeah sure, I’ve had to replace a few parts here and there but this mowers on its third season with thousands of hours on it. But you’re entitled to your opinion, thanks for your comment.

      Lols... had a troy built mower hasnt been maintenance for about 5 years. And only this 5th year had issues with restarting and some carb cleaner fixed that right up. And works like new again. Also changed oil.

    I purchased this mover August 5 2016, I had to take this mover back to lowes because it would not start. I hate this mover, as you can see haven't had a year and off to the repair shop. I had to pull out my old bolens push mover had for appox. 6 years to get the job done.
