I never play sim in War Thunder but I can't believe they allow the smoke in the mode. It's a fairly unusual system for any aircraft, it should not be available.
the thing that pisses me off about the harriers in wt is they can still fire there guns and shoot missiles with the nozzles down anything below 0* irl they cant shoot or fire guns or missiles when the nozzles are down. or even flare. Its modeled correctly in dcs but in wt it isnt and just makes it break the game. I would understand it in air rb but not in air sim.
Can you tell me where it can't launch missiles or fire gun pods while in vertical thrust. They are blocking the thrusters and maybe the gun could maybe cause a stall the missiles wouldnt.
@@RockSeller01 Its somewhere on the dcs forums for the av8b harrier when it was first released. Someone posted the public harrier documents about how it cant use any weapons when the thrusters are angled down past 0* since so many people were asking. I think it was mainly due to weight distribution if it fired a maverick or sidewinder it would upset the balance and could tip and the fumes could choke out the engine just like the ka50 when firing the kh25ml when hovering. I have the DCS av8b n/a manual you can download it but i dont think it states anything about weapons use while hovering. But there is also the public official harrier manual ch 1-15 but im not gonna go through its 1000 pages long lmfao thats where it states it can choke the engine out from leaning out the oxygen from fumes being sucked in the intake. Just like alot of old jets like the f1 mirage cant fire sidewinders with the after burner on. But the smoke can choke the engine out when hovering from a maverick or a old sidewinder the fumes would get sucked in and would choke and lean the engine out from oxygen. And the harrier in wt can hover with a FULL loadout for as long as you want and doesn't simulate the water inj which is wild they could only do a vtol hover for 90 seconds with a partial loadout like sidewinders and a gunpod with reduced fuel. And no, the gun cannot be fired during a hover, once nozzles are rolled past a certain degree the butterfly valve (or bleed air valve) redirects bleed air to the RCS system. Since the gun is pneumatically operated, you could I guess fire off one round, but the gun shouldn’t function beyond that. It cant use any weapons with the nozzles down the computer overrides the master arm once they are down past somewhere around 0*. Some cool info from the DCS harrier manual about the water inj= The water tank is located in the engine bay, just aft of the engine and contains 500 pounds of demineralized water that will last for approximately 90 seconds. Use of normal water (other than distilled or demineralized) is possible, but if repeated, may lead to deterioration of the engine and/or engine performance. Go through the official unclassified gov one online yourself it does state it it was posted on the dcs forums. You can use the emergency jettison when hovering though but thats about it.
