Lemme get this straight: this journalism thing is just following the facts, putting one foot in front of the other, applying a wee bit of imagination and curiosity now and then? And they call it "journalism"? Wow! I dunno. But weird stuff like that will fly from time to time.
The value of what the investors should get back is equal to how the Feds, the Treasury is calculating the curramount that is being declared as how much has been stolen by Sam Bankman-Fried and his family members have stolen ( ex: the value of the properties bought by these scumbags with stolen FTX CRYPTO CURRENCY and now those properties today have increased in value...same should apply to the provided investors who got scammed😅😅😅😅
I think Zeke’s opinion that these people were well intentioned is the defense Sam should have presented. I think he still goes to jai, but his sentence would be much lower. However, Sam is possessed by an ideology, but severely lacking in character. He lacks a moral compass which makes him incapable of doing truly great things
He did actual crimes, it's not that he just failed to realise his dream. He literally spent customer funds on random shit to grow the business. SBF didn't have an ideology, he had an opportunity.
@@afh001 What I said was that he should have used the “well intentioned” defense to possibly get a lower sentence. Not that it justified his obvious crimes. Even Sam knows he committed crimes, but it was someone else’s fault combined with his lack of focus and sudden descent into idiocy at the age of twenty nine The defense claiming you took the money , but planned to pay it back before the crime was discovered might not have mattered, but it would be miles better than that shit his lawyers served up. Sam is an MIT grad and former trader at Janes Street. An elite firm that employs sophisticated risk management and hires the best and brightest from elite schools. No one was gonna believe this guy did not understand even basic concepts of running a financial company. It didn’t help that he spent three years claiming him and everyone else at FTX understood their business quite well I get that nothing was gonna excuse the crime. Only that his penalty might be mitigated if he admitted it and took responsibility. His belief in effective altruism made him believe it was ok to use the funds until he could earn the money back because his goal of saving the world mattered most. That is basically what Zeke was saying and I agree. It’s absurd as well, but His actual defense was worse. He just continued the lying campaign he started right after collapse. He pissed off a judge who may give a much more severe sentence, which hopefully happens. “Sam didn’t have an ideology, he had an opportunity”. Both can be true. Sam absolutely had an ideology and Sam also had an opportunity to steal billions. His ideology may justified the theft in his mind. We will probably never know and will stop caring soon after he gets sentenced severely for his crimes. Hopefully others will be charged but I gotta feeling Sam is gonna get bent over and pay for everyone involved
Today, I bought Zeke's book as a gift for my son.
Just got it too! Love it so far
Another good sound inoculation of the season! Well done.
Zeke! What a dude.
Yeah…those ETF proposals are really hurting crypto right now😂
I think you missed the point.
