I have been a housewife for 3 years. Every morning I do my makeup. Its my play time and often stuff came up and I had to go out. My husband once asked, why I do my makeup to mop the floor and I told him because you never know what will happen that day, you know and it makes me feel beautifull.

Similar here. I became disabled (vision issues) and had to retire. I use makeup ad therapy to remind myself that I'm not less of a human being just b/c I can't see so good anymore.

I hope you see this: I’m divorcing my husband, a man I love more than anything, because I found out he’s been lying to me. I am crushed. But I’ve been watching your videos for the past week as a way to start to see beyond what this man and his criticism and ideas of what sexy is and what I should be, and start feeling like myself again. You are helping people more than you know. Please keep doing what you do.

I'll be honest, I feel like I started letting myself go before covid. Not horribly so, but just giving in to the weight gain and fatigue that comes with age. Well, I'm sick of it. I'm ready to come back roaring. I've already lost five pounds, quit coffee, whitened my teeth, cut three inches of crappy ends off my hair, started using lotion on my whole body and drinking more water. I'm at that point where I WANT to do the work to feel younger, healthier and more beautiful. I love how unapologetic you are about the value of self-care and beautifying yourself. I'm a new-ish subscriber and I have been thinking of you when I feel determined to do this for the reason of feeling like a whole person, not just vanity.

I completely agree with “staying ready” so you don’t have to get ready...As a mom of two kids, I noticed that I would get them and my husband ready and I always ran out of time for myself. Now I get ready first at the beginning of the day and touch up later and I call it “ ready all day.” It makes me more excited about the day And there’s no stress. I never really achieved the look that I wanted when I was racing to get ready anyway.

I saw a youtube video about crepey skin and how microneedling really helps. So I decided to give it a try and follow exactly what she did on her video. I microneedled my entire body once a month, followed by a glycolic acid moisturizer (for firming). I used to have really wrinkly knees, I stopped wearing shorts for years and dresses that showed my knees, but after 4 sessions (one each month), I have much tighter and less wrinkley skin on my knee area as well as my stomach. It really works!! Taking care of your skin on your body is SO important, we can't neglect that. You're right, our faces get so much attention, but we really show our age on the rest of the skin area, (knees, chest, forearms, stomachs) and if we want to continue to wear dresses and shorts, this is a must!!!

If I have realized anything (and maybe its from the pandemic and staying home and laying low), I completely see no need to do full coverage makeup. Do we really need a full face of spackle, contour, highlight, etc. everyday when some simple tinted moisturizer, a single sweep of eyeshadow, mascara, and a lip balm feels pretty good!

Oh, I started my beauty journey like 6 months ago and I ‘ve been exactly doing same things as you mentioned: 1. Be ready first before my baby wakes up- I also bought an apron to protect my clothes when I am cooking or just doing breakfast or baby food so 2. Skincare( professional deep ultrasonic cleaning 👍) 3. Grow my lashes and brows ( I actually tried some serums before but now I am testing castor oil) 4. Manicure, pedicure 5. Workout 🏋️‍♀️ specifically weight lifting- great for stress relief and control of emotions 6. Drinking celery juice every morning makes my skin cleaner

Today I wore jeans and normal clothes all day (and did my makeup) for the first time in a very long time and I hate to admit it (I do love my sweat pants) but you were right, it did make a big difference. I mean I knew it would make a difference but I was still shocked to notice how much lol. Even though I still had online classes I felt like my routine was kind of "normal" again and I felt more motivated in general, not only for work but also for keeping up with my diet/fitness routine etc. Because of Covid I don't really fit into my jeans anymore :( It's a lot easier to let yourself go when you're wearing sweat pants with an elastic band all day and don't really realise how you fit into your normal clothes. I totally agree about your point about trying to look/feel beautiful naturally. Like in my teens/20s I was self dyeing my hair all the time, wearing colored contacts, always wearing face full of makeup, etc. And as I been getting older I noticed I prefer to try and let my hair be natural so it'll be healthier, appreciating my brown eyes, trying to have healthy clear skin so I *don't* have to wear face makeup I prefer to just wear pretty and simple eye makeup.

  • @wabi_sabi52

Whitney, thank you for being a good influence. Your channel continues to be a tremendous motivator and highly uplifting for me personally. I appreciate your content so much, and would love to hear more aimed at women over 30.
I wanted to suggest that if you do begin making more content focussing on 'femmes d'un certain age' so to speak, that you do a segment addressing the very concept of "aging gracefully." I have tried to express to people in my life that the word 'graceful' means moving through life with ease, elegance and dignity--not the desperate, strained pursuit of youthful appearance, which often originates from a place of low self-worth or even self-loathing. In my view, the classic term "aging gracefully" has been co-opted and warped by the beauty and cosmetic alteration industry to promote a ceaseless striving for the impossible: to not age at all. Please reassure your beautiful viewers that it is permissible to age naturally, and it is also perfectly permissible to take measures to forestall the effects of aging; yet, for ads to promote the concept of "aging gracefully" (when what they really mean is to cease aging altogether), is to do a great disservice to the women in the world who do not and cannot hope to meet this unrealistic and unfair standard. How is desperately chasing a magic elixir of youth in any way shape or form a display of gracefulness? Is it not more graceful to maintain poise? I often admire french women for this ability to cultivate a stylish personal image conveying self-love and high-standards, irrespective of age. Would love to hear your perspective on this.
I truly believe it is the woman cultivating kindness, elegance, and a peaceful inner contentment with the changing seasons of life who is the one displaying true grace. Please discuss the essential meaning of "aging gracefully" as an intentional act we choose to partake in, not a particular aesthetic achievement we attain. Taking pride in our appearance is a way to express to ourselves and others that we are feminine, dignified, loving women who not only accept but EMBRACE life through all changes with the passage of time.
Thank you for all that you do-- J

I'm also trying to tackle all the admin I procrastinate on and am planning on using Revitalash, going to the dentist and investing in nice dressed and underwear. I was in a slump and I've decided to take care of myself more (while saving hard and panning all my make up - often I would just buy more make-up rather than do wider, deeper work of actually improving my looks /outlook/ skin.

Do a Glow up!! I'll be 32 this year, and while I would like to get ready everyday and change some things, I have found this year that I'm putting more effort into my natural features than ever before. Like you said, trying caffeine eye creams on my hooded eyes, new skincare routines, wearing spf everyday, and focusing on that versus covering up all the things I don't like. I feel like women hit a major transition period at 30 and we can all relate to the mindset and physical changes we experience!

First of all Whitney, you are fabulous. Love love love your vids! I'm a 51 yr old with "young" skin and added collagen 2 years ago. Within one month (and discovery of a breast lump), I learned collagen is proven to provide pathways in the body for cancer cell travel/transfer from an otherwise encapsulated situation. Definitely do the research before taking it!

I just adore these videos. They speak to my soul. I would definitely love to see the 60 day challenge. And I agree. As a 43 year old woman, I often forget I’m that age but I do not like the long nail and hair extensions etc look. To me it mostly looks cheap. My goal is to be classy in all areas of my life.

Great video, Whitney! You made some excellent points. To the people reading the comment section: please, don't make the mistake to think that taking one supplement pill a day will make your anxiety and stress disappear. I am not saying that it cannot help. If you are prone to anxiety or if you have many stressful factors in your life, the one way to improve your stress on the long run is therapy (specifically, I am talking about CBT, because it helps you reframe your perspective and thoughts, in a very down to earth and practical way). Again, I am not saying that supplements do not work. But if you start feeling that you are truly overwhelmed, please ask for help from a professional. Have a great day, everyone!

Loving the series! When you do your breakup video, can you do a section on your stuff - how to get your stuff back, what stuff isnt worth giving up your peace for and how to have a healthy stuff giving-back/picking-up experience. Its such a weird topic but i think is where people probably mess up and "lose" their breakup

One of the benefit of collagen is the higher percentage of glycine amino acid. As you said, it’s not about replacing collagen in your skin, it’s more about supplying a source of certain amino acids that have therapeutic impact at certain levels. If you are a hot sleeper like me, taking a 20g dose of collagen 1 hour before bed can help you sleep. Glycine can help improve sleep quality by helping you regulate your body temperature. I take my magnesium glycinate at night as well to promote better sleep quality since I have a sleep disorder. Great video, I love topics like this.

I love the glow up challenge idea! I hope to see it on patreon. It's a productive reason to be intentional with present with yourself. Hopefully that sentence made sense. So often last year I found myself not being intuitive with myself which is actually very out of character but nevertheless damage was done so to speak. Since January I've slowly had motivation to take better care of myself. One thing I do most weekdays especially, is take baths. It's a lovely escape after work to decompress and wind down whilst actually re energizing and giving me the gumption to do things like make a yummy dinner. Also I've really stepped up my body care game! Thanks for adding to the inspiration 🥰 I will have to check cleanser habits and see if I notice a difference. Love to you Whitney 💛 thanks for the enrichment as always and you're looking especially lovely 😘 I aspire 😜

Last Monday I finally started working out again. That day I already felt so much better about myself. I haven’t missed a workout yet, and even on days I don’t feel motivated or am depressed over my situation, I’ll at the very least go out for a walk. I need to learn to apply falsies. I have really good lashes, but I also have sensitive eyes. The condensation from breathing and the mask makes my mascara look horrible. I hate waterproof mascara.

    • @whitneyhedrick

Falsies in my opinion at this point for me are way easier and faster than mascara and curling. I just pop em on.

Hi Whitney! I just wanted to say, I'm really enjoying your channel! I feel you are happier now that you are creating videos you truly love 💕 and I'm taking every advice you suggest because I can relate a lot. I'm 32 and also started to change how I'm doing my makeup, how I treat my skin, cleanse etc
Last year was a growing year for my tattoo studio and for myself as well and now that I have a more stable income, I can put some of it into my health. I used to exercise at home but now I joined the gym, I can afford better creams, clothes and it makes me feel so good. I think the way you present yourself at work and at home it's so important. Do it for you, I say, and the perspective of the ones around you will change so much 🙂

Facial massage is great if you have sinus issues. Just massaging under the eyes, on top of the cheek bones and between the eyes can help reduce Swelling and help clear out sinuses. I highly recommend it just to feel better, not just look better. I honestly think so many years of my acne issues were lack of good cleansing. I still have some hormonal acne, but cleansing properly helps the rest of the month for me.

You're more comfortable in your skin? Or maybe you figured out the looks that work best for you & you've refined it & tweaked it as necessary. ❤️

You should try a dry cleanse. You do not wet your face. I use the CeraVie cleansing bar. I leave my face dry, wet the bar work into a lather and then apply to my face and keep massaging my face until the foam is dry on my skin then I apply water foam my face cleanse for a few more seconds and rinse. Works like a charm.

Loving this video! I have been doing a body routine. Super simple I just simply use a lotion when I get out of the shower. I will either use cereve, neutrogena hydraboost ( I actually use the body one on my face as well) or I use Vaseline intensive care. I get the fragrance free lotions. I put it on damp skin and my skin has been so much softer hydrated. Because I do this, I haven’t dealt with dry skin this winter. I use lash serum but not constantly. I cut my long hair that I worked hard to grow out. It was beautiful and healthy, but I cut it because I had neck surgery last year. So I’m currently growing it out. It was much easier having shorter hair during my recovery. I take 10,000 units of vitamin D3, milk thistle, and apple cider vinegar supplements every day. I bought calm and it really helps. I’ve just kinda slacked off. I need to start back. I might try the supplements you got from Amazon when I’m out of calm. I think I sound definitely like to include more steps and do a 90 day glow up! I’m one that doesn’t use eye creams only because I don’t see a difference in most, but I will probably try that caffeinated one. I deal with puffiness.

In Re: Facial Yoga. Nope. Think about it logically, wrinkles are caused by movement. Laugh lines from laughing. Smile lines and crows feet also from laughing (ie movement).
Facts of life: as we age, our faces move forward and down. Our bones start sinking in and separating from fat pads allowing the fat pads to droop. Bio stimulators and skin plumping help keep and produce more collagen. Collagen is your face’s best friend.

Love this! Yes as I get older I focus more on nurturing my natural beauty and save my money for other things. I’d rather buy a lash serum to use for 6mo then spend $$$ on biweekly lash extensions that really look fake. If I need a pair of lashes for an event I’ll glue them on thank you. Also I have noticed a huge change in my skin from avoiding caffeine, replacing with antioxidant rich dandelion tea. I also started to drink acv regularly. These were pretty trendy at one time to but I noticed it actually works if you stick with it. I’ve also noticed how I can skip foundation if I just use an facial oil under my sunscreen. Once it melts in about 30 min later my skin looks incredible!
