For those interested, Mixam also has a US site (you can navigate there through the same link Trickywagon posted) AND they will send you a free sample package with their different paper types/weights/finishes/etc. Definitely worth it if you're interested in getting prints/magazines/posters/etc. Their prices look pretty fantastic too, btw, so I recommend checking them out. Will try to comment again on this with an update when I get my package. THANKS SUSH!
So I got my sample pack in, and the quality of the paper is fantastic. Unfortunately, there isn't any of their special papers (soft touch lamination, or any of their UV laminations/coatings) but I have a feeling that if you contacted the customer service and asked for a sample, they would send you samples. Even with it being a busy time of year for everyone, I left my previous comment a week ago and received my package from out of state from them, BEFORE I got a package shipped from within the state. So, that's quick processing if I've ever seen it lol. Plus, based on their reviews and their site in general, it really seems like they value their customers. I may email them and try to get a sample of the papers not included, and if I do I will update here. Either way, their paper quality is really nice, a lot better than that I've got from other more popular printing businesses. The images are sharp and contrasted really well, the paper feels nice in your hands, definitely definitely definitely ordering work from them in the future. I also recommend checking out their sample pack if you've never printed before, because they send all their different paper weights in different formats (2 flyers, 1 booklet, 1 catalog, 1 roll-fold brochure) so you can see/feel the real difference in their options, and choose the best one for what you need *one might be too shiny or not shiny enough for your print/one might be to heavy or not heavy enough for what you need*. What's also really cool, they show on the back of each of the samples how much the starting costs for 100 copies of each is, as well as the different sizes/folding options for each particular product. It's a great little pack to keep in/beside the desk to reference when you need to print things as they're each sized at the 5.5"x8.5" and come in an adorable little packet that folds into itself to reseal. I really wish they offered packaging too because it's so cool lol. Hope this helps someone! =] Happy arting!
I've used Mixam for color Zines before and was very happy with the quality of my prints. Their customer service people were super helpful and patient in explaining the changes I needed to make in my documents so that they would print properly.

You can get biodegradable packaging bags, so your work will still look nice a professional if thts what you want and there wont be a much waste! I think the company is called Eco Craft?
"I'm not ready to draw a comic yet because I need to practice" Nooo!! Going ahead and making the comic WILL be how you learn :D Then if you get to the end, you can look back and choose to fix things.

I've worked with Chinese suppliers for charms before and yeah, you really gotta make sure they understand what you mean. I had double-sided charms and I had to do a bit of back and forth, using images, for them to understand how I wanted my charms to look bc they didn't get how the back was supposed to look. It's possible for your charms that they didn't quite understand what was the back/front and that's why the sparkles were on the wrong side. They still look good though! It's just a shame that they aren't quite like you wanted them

Just a tip! Get a foam block it's a lot easier to pin pins to the backer cards on there :) You can pick one up at michaels for like $1

Hey sush! Um I wanted to ask about the postcards, did you use matt lamination or uv matt finish? Also they don't offer postcards in A5 size so did you choose leaflets with higher paper weight? I know I have too many questions, but I'm new into this and I want to start with a good quality prints. Btw loved your vlog and your work is stunning!

Love a long vlog- haha.I feel you pain about the whole comics thing, the first few I made were not the greatest but it's totally a more you make the more you improve type thing- making lots of shorter and simpler stories definitely helped with getting used to a new method of storytelling. It also really helps if you write it with visuals (if that makes sense?) it makes panels a lot easier to compose!

Hey Sush how many pages will the sketchbook be?
My advice for making comics (looking foward to it) is to keep it short, about 24 pages or less and not be afraid to push the limits. That way you'll learn what next to work on. The longest comic I've made to date is about 60-70 pages. I'm trying really hard to push past 100

I don't know if you heard about eco-craft.co.uk before? They sell clear bio-degradable packaging bags and lots of other recycled and bio-degradable stuff. Instantly came to my mind while you were packaging your charms and talked about trying out something diffrent. Maybe it's worth checking it out. I thinks it's good solution, espacially because there's always so much waste and it still looks as professional! :)
The new iPad pencil feels good in your hand and it is not as slippery as the old one due to the mate texture. You might not need a case. I think you are right that it won’t work with a case.

hmmm hard to say what to do with packaging, but I would say you could just adjust pricing to compensate for the wasted paper and ink. Personally I would say go and raise maybe a dollar or two or maybe even consider raising the cost of some of your bigger items to justify it.
