- Animation made in blender of a colt 1911. All of the parts are modeled to blueprint specifications
It took about 100 hours to model all of the pieces and about 10 to get the animation done. rendering was a multipass process, using yafray for a high quality GI render, then using blender for a post process DOF blur total rendering time was around 500 hours on a core 2 quad

One of the best videos on TH-cam. I'll definitely have this bookmarked when I get my first 1911.
5 Stars
John Moses Browning was a brilliant man. Although there are now better semi-auto handguns out there, this design still holds it's own 100 years later.
a beautiful peace of work, both the gun and the video
holy shit that looks very complex ! assembling is already hard to do in real life, i mean you must know exactly what you are doing and you need a complete knowledge of all the gun parts and where to place them, modelling them one by one and making an animation on the computer is just amazing ! great job >:)
Very very nice. Took a lot of work to put this together. Thanks. Keeping it as a reference.
It fits perfectly, plus, my 1911 fires perfectly, as well. Besides, me and my dad went to a nearby gunsmith and he said nothing's wrong with it. We only need a stabilizer and a magazine guard. Or maybe, we just have different style on doing something we're both good at.
This was the video that got me into 3D graphics!
That warms my heart to hear. For me, It was Toy Story, haha. Glad that you were inspired by this!
Very nice animation. I liked how you changed the focus when you put the slide on! I notice little stuff like that, and you did a great job.
Put a lot of information in three minutes twenty one seconds! Excellent!
wow the time you took to make this really shows. Great work.
Awesome :)
Holy crap!!! This is a sweet video! Thanks for sharing it. The creator s a genius. I need to replace the sear in mine. This video will be of great help!
This must have taken loads of research on the pistol itself, then ages of making all of the parts! Nice work! 6/5
Great video animation of a 45 cal pistol. Good job!
I can't stop watching this
Very nice job. Thanks for the video it helps me visualize how everything works.
outstanding work. A very useful and helpful intro to the 1991. Well done!
You forgot the right side thumb safety. Very nice animation either way.
Great technical animation, well done.
In the time it took this person to design this with his computer program he could have been working a real job and earned enough money to purchase a real one...
Very cool.. :-)
I think the only pin that was missed was the drift pin for the ejector...
Wow! That was very well done!!
Very cool. I wish it would go slower though. Thanks for the hard work.
wow!, damn good job. I just wish your 45 had the same damn grip safety mine does as it took me hours to figure out how the hell it went on. great great video. You have entirely too damn much time on your hands.
That took you a long long time.
That is amazing!
LOL!! I will have to remember that one. Great stuff.
WOW... Amazing work.
Exquisite detail! wonderful!
When I finally get enough money to buy a gun, my first will probably be a S&W M&P CORE 9mm for ccw. But my next gun will probably be some manner of M1911 that can take a double stack for target practice and home defense.
wiatrówka co2.911
maaan,it's awesoooooome! pro work!! 5/5
Hehe, 1911 Button brought me here but aswome animation!

This helps so much
Beautiful
Congrat Its amazing!! Loved it
@Mitsurugi2424 Singer Sewing Machine Company too. I love those for some reason.
Fantastic.
Incredible! Nice work!
Amazing. Love it good job. What program did you use?
amazing details!
Awesome job!
Great anim!! I know how to disasembly my Trojan now!
major thumbs up!
Awesome, but have you considered doing an animation for the Series 80?
This one is 1911 45 mm COLT right? I had the same one in the army,, this gun is legend, as powerful as Desert Eagle..
Awsome job
You know work very good video
Felicitaciones!
perfect
hey thanx 4 this awesome video ;)
that is awesome!
Unfortunately, the sequence of assembly is wrong and you won't be able to assemble a 1911 this way. The thumb safety has to be inserted with the hammer cocked. It is shown inserted with the hammer uncocked.
Impressive
the hammer has to be cocked in order to install the safety lever.
The trigger was put in before the hammer disconnector.
I love this video, God bless.
Nice.
@luuko656 a tab on the magazine pushes it up when its empty
to be honest i do not know the reason they added or what its intended purpose is other than increasing safety in some fashion. I do however know that while you can still get a series 80 model, series 70 are much more popular to the point series 80 has but been dis contuined.
@overhang88 ...acctualy it got its name for the year it was produced...1911 and it was first used in WW1..as for your factory theory...thats just wrong. it was invented by john browning in 1910 so dont spam me saying ii was colt plz... and during ww2 it was produced by Browning, Remington, Colt, and Springfield. something not many pple know that IS true, is that auto-ordnance(same guys who made the Thompson submachine gun) made it aswell...there is a lot more..but im out of room
very good!!!
could you use this bleuprints as a building instruction i`m tinking of making a prop
@Yinhuwuduan ...if you happen to have a series 80 you will need more than that as there are a couple more parts involved with the firing pin block (plunger, lower and upper sear lever) - the only disadvantage to me between 70 and 80 series colts is in complete tear down and reassembly.
The 1911 is so fucking sexy, you can't deny that.
Realy coll wow!
you know were the blue prints werefrom?
99 Privates Pyle failed to reassembly the 1911. For that reason they hate this video. Not me.
awesome! very very very very cool same of paper sniper please
that was effin' A
only one problem the hammer has to be back in order to put the safety in
Was this done in solidworks?
was that done on solidworks?
This is actual footage of Chuck Norris's daydream.
is this the government or commander model?
@Henryandginger I still dont get the 1911 button everybody is talking about but i couldn´t find it
if only i had pieces id make a gun for myself
nice work thumb up :)
the AK47 of the handgun world.
What? No clip? No jk man, nice job!
It was made with blender, it's free you should check it out
@BasementBeginnings They are 20 now
this is an ipod app for touches and iphones, dont tell me its not i've got it
1911's don't have clips, they have magazines. ;)
holy mother of god
Wholly shit... And I thought making a gun firing animation for a game on blender was hard....
Beautiful work and a classic subject, the 1911, Thanks for posting.. Now I'm going to go shoot some 45 ACP.
*sigh* my two favorite things in this world, computers and guns, coming together in perfect harmony... I cried...
Had to watch that a couple of times to get mine back together.
Hola mucho gusto es un placer saludarle mis estimados amigos.?
:How God designed the 1911
My hammer is still stuck and doesn't click with the sear. Idk what to do. I'm so frustrated. Starting to thing something is missing
Hammer has to be cocked to install thumb safety. Otherwise very Kool
I disagree, I can easily assemble it, and I have been assembling my M1911 with the hammer uncocked, all the time. of course, except when putting the slide back.
Excellent - yafaray doesn't work for me for some reason. Every time I try to render something with it, Blender crashes.
@batj08121999 COMMIE!!! XD Just kidding. The makarov is pretty cool too, but there's no bitchin' animation of it.
@mugofdoom what i meant is that he should re-render it now, as it's a couple of years on, his computer's probably better. and surely he can assign a metal texture to the metal parts and then a seperate one for the grip?
@guildwarsmaster33 the point of this is to know how to assemble and disassemble your 1911 pistol, all weapon operators must know the parts of their gun and how to assemble and disassemble it for maintenance
A 35 ounce hammer has no moving parts and can do the same thing. It is a personal defense weapon and nothing more. If you want a device to kill with, an ice pick is lighter, cheaper, and more silent.
