Rachel…virtual sheep adoption. Get your account up and running and I will definitely adopt one or several to help out. You are such a bright and shining star! Hugs to you and your entire flock and pack!!!! Cheers.

I think this is a great idea and seems less stressful than trying to come up with new ideas for videos all the time. You could focus mainly of the personalities and welfare of the sheep, which is you already do day to day.

Love this idea but also feel that your videos are enough. Whatever you decide to do, will be happy to support you! Not quite sure what to say about all that mud. Feel for you and the critters. I very much appreciate that your video updates are an honest portrayal of the challenges you face and don’t try to sugarcoat or romanticize your life there. Again, will support whatever you decide to do. Sending thoughts and prayers for drier weather.

Oh Rachel, my heart really felt for you. As Corine and Maggie said starting a patron to help support you is a wonderful idea. What you offer is your pleasant spirit, kindness of your soul. I personally think you don't have to offer anything. Keep doing your videos sharing of yourself, sheep, and life is enough. People will give because they want to.

I think about Racheal so much. I wish I was younger, I would love to go to Fair Isle and do her chores for her for a week so she could have a little vaca. She works so hard! I would be happy to support Rachel and all she has to say is "Hello Thistlers!" I would not want to make her life harder by giving her another job of providing more content for us. I would just be happy to help support her and I would guess many, many viewers would be happy to do the same. Caitlin is such an inspiration. I love her Camilla Vad sweater. Loved the opportunity to listen to Marie Wallin talk about each project in her new book. She and her yarn are so awesome.

This morning we woke up to sand/salt trucks treating the roads as we had freezing rain overnight here in the White Mountains of NH. That being said it made for a perfect morning to sit in a cozy chair, work on my knitting and watch the podcast. So great to see Corrine and Maggie back, feeling better and obviously energized and inspiring. Thanks for sharing your projects. I am looking forward to the color work KAL. I haven’t decided what to do yet. Caitlin, such a beautiful sweater, thanks for sharing. Rachel, I think of you often. I have new neighbors, a young couple who are starting to raise a flock of sheep. Just talking with them, I realize how much attention is needed to keep the sheep protected and cared for. You are pretty amazing. I’ve seen a couple of suggestions from viewers and I agree you should have an adopt a sheep project. Im sure it would be a lot of work for you, but it would be fun to keep connected with one special sheep. We all fell in love with blossom and we were all sad when she died. I admire your independence but we all have needed support and love from family and friends in our life. You deserve that kind of support from your Woolley thistle family. Let’s make it happen.

What an interesting chat with Marie Wallin- loved hearing about her journey as a designer. Maggie, loved hearing about the time you had teaching your son and his friend to knit and the comment "knitting is not a competitive sport" made me laugh. Rachel, I respect your work and your creativity in thinking about what fits you best for bringing in more income. If that involves giving Patreon a try, do it! What about doing a "sponsor a sheep" program? We all have become attached to your sheep- maybe this idea is more work than not but hopefully worth mentioning!

I know of many artists who have used the Patreon platform to supplement their incomes, but I don't know of any whose struggles compare to what Rachel faces on a daily basis. And in sharing parts of her life with us, she shows so much grace and grit. I think I could certainly make room in my out-of-control yarn budget to help out with a patreon contribution! If everyone from TWT could spare $1-$5-$10 a month, we might be able to make a real difference in her life.

Also, I was prepared for a long wait at my doctors office yesterday so I TOOK MY KNITTING! I was fully committed with two Plötulopi plates, working on my Winterwoods sweater. Thanks to all for the shopcast, the service and the AWESOME community that you have created ♥️

Rachel, I have a suggestion, you can adopt out your sheep...(I have done this on my sheep farm in the past)...so a person pays a fee to "adopt" a specific sheep...they get monthly/quarterly (however often you decide) pictures and updates on what their sheep is up to. At the end my people got their sheep's fleece (that might not work shipping fleece from the island, but maybe they could get little sheep gifts like a few locks tied with a ribbon or something like that) The year I did it people loved it!!!

I would be honored to support Rachel on Patreon. Just knowing that my support might make even one of her days a little less fraught and a bit more secure is quite enough. I also like the adopt a sheep idea. And Rachel has some already created knitting patterns she might consider sharing. But nothing to add an extra work or commitments to days that are already both too long and never long enough. The regular video's Rachel makes that show me the realities of raising sheep in such a challenging environment makes me treasure everyone's small farm yarn even more.
Rachel, there's a large community here that wants to help you succeed in these times, when both weather and the economy are stacked against you and your sheep being able to thrive on a small croft. Do let us join your Patreon!

@@valeriemelanson4131 You're so welcome, Valerie! I'm so glad you like the cowl - it was actually a happy mistake! Last year someone had ordered a hood from my website in the Natural/Shetland Black colourway. I started working on it one evening and, thanks to the poor lighting in the room and/or my poor eyesight, it wasn't until the next day that I realised that I'd put in Charcoal as the background colour instead of Shetland Black, so I had to re-knit it from scratch but just turned the length that I'd already knit into a cowl! It isn't a particular pattern but is just composed of motifs of 3, 5 and 9 rows which I find give a nice, balanced look when knitted up 😀

Rachel, I would join your patreon just to support you. I don’t need any extras to watch. Your love for the sheep is enough for me. So if I could, I would love to see more videos of your sheep. Keep up the hard caring work that you do

So enjoyed this podcast, especially Marie Wallen. Such an interesting lady. I also would like to encourage Rachel to do a patreon page as she works so hard to keep her sheep healthy. I was raised on a sheep ranch and know first hand the amount of hard work that goes into raising them. So glad to see Maggie back and on the mend. Take care

We have a supportive strong community here and I, for one, will definitely sign up as a patreon for Rachel of Fair Isle. I also am a patreon for Fruity Knitting which was my introduction to this type of support. Rachel, just keep doing what you're doing. I've seen your Postcards from Fair Isle content grow during the couple of years I've been following you on The Woolly Thistle. Yes, this is a great idea! On a different note, I'm a big Marie Wallin fan, so really enjoyed this most recent chat with Corinne. I've knit a number of Marie's accessories patterns and love them. She is a treasure! I've built a healthy stash of British Breeds over the past couple of years and love this yarn. Hi to Corinne and Maggie! Terrific Shopcast, as always! Looking forward to the KAL. I'll be knitting with Ronnie's Uradale. My first project with this yarn. Rock on!

What a woolly superb show ladies. Loved all the beautiful finished objects. I especially loved hearing about Marie Wallin's career path and the new book is just lovely. Thank you for all the eye candy.
To Rachel: I'm sorry to hear about your financial issues and more than understand. I wasn't allowed to work for 15mths out of the 2 yrs of ongoing Covid lockdowns here in Canada. And there were so many Canadians who didn't qualify for any sort of aid(which many Canadians didn't realized was actually happening to their fellow citizens) I think if you did a once a month video so it isn't too hard to do with all the farm works you do including things people would like to see on your Island and I'd love to know what you have to do in a day to take care of your animal kingdom.

Another wonderful episode! So glad to see that Maggie is feeling better! The interview with Marie Wallin was a treat, and is another incentive for me to try steeking a garment! (Going to start with the Ba-able Mug cozy first though - thanks Maggie for the inspo on that one.) I so enjoy the contributions from Rachel, so I’m very interested and excited by the idea of a Patreon, addition possibilities, etc. I find it so interesting to learn about how you care for your sheep, Rachel. As I watch I find I have health and care questions about your charges. All the best to all at TWT, and hopefully there will be an announcement about Patreon soon.

Hi, Corinne and Maggie! I love your shopcasts. I tune in from Newfoundland, Canada. I always look forward to Rachel's videos about her life on Fair Isle. I sometimes wonder how she finds the time to do everything....run the croft, and run her Bee-Croft enterprise, let alone all the other things/jobs she has on her plate. She is, obviously, a very resourceful person and a hard worker. Rachel, your videos about life on your croft and on Fair Isle are awesome! I purchased your Sheep Gaets Neck Warmer pattern and several skeins of your first batch of yarn and I was very interested in your videos and posts sharing in the process of the wool getting from sheep to skein and I am excited to see the next batch coming out sometime this year! Videos on Bee-Croft updates and how you use a knitting machine in your work, and, even videos showing other aspects of your life and work on Fair Isle would always be welcome. I hope the weather turns better soon with lots of sun and drier pasture land for your sheep. All the best!

Thank you so very much for your kind words and all your support, Judy! I'm really glad you enjoy the videos and I'll definitely be filming more content about life here on the isle! I really hope you love knitting with the Bee Croft yarn and that it keeps you lovely and cosy!
