I totally worked myself up this summer for my BTECs. Heck, I had stomach pains the night before, struggling to sleep. But I managed to get in my firm still!! Took me a while to realise they gave me an unconditional offer, which makes me sound so dumb, but hey ho that's life.

Ahh! Well done Emma. Those results are amazing, and you should be so proud of yourself! Honestly, when you opened the results and started crying I did too. All of you hard work paid off and you got into your dream uni. Could you make a video on advice for exam season? I have exams next year and I’m really scared- and it would be nice to hear your advice for that! Again, well done!! 💕
I'm quite susceptible to levity, so until the 17th I actually forgot about results day entirely, was on holiday and it slipped my mind at some point. When I did the exams, some felt quite easy, others a bit harder (missed a few questions), others I didn't revise for (*cough* computer science *cough), mainly because I was doing 4 subjects and logically I ought to have dropped it. I didn't because it would've damaged my ego (although in retrospect I had a lot of fun doing the NEA towards the end, and I think the confidence from that might make it worth the pain in the long run). So I was expecting a respectable, roughly mid-tier series of grades based on the 2019 grade boundaries. Not enough to get into my firm choice, but something to work with. I expected to have to reapply (I'm doing a gap year, so I have options, really helps mitigate stress! (and is probably the wiser choice for most, def me)). But it was not to be, for the Lord hath gazed upon my plight and saw fit to grant me reprieve. In a single, magnificent swoop, He gathered all the divine might He possesses and struck down the grade boundaries, collapsing them and in the process elevating mine own grades far beyond what reason and intuition deem them worth. A road overgrown and in disrepair was regenerated, and presented before me. So now I have 3 A*s and a B, somehow. Was expecting AABC, which I calculated as what I would've gotten with those marks in 2019. But apparently not. Somehow I got an A in an exam I spent literally a day revising for. No fucking clue how that happened. I thought that these stories of "I spent a day revising for this and got an A" were history now, scenarios that could only occur with GCSEs, too unlikely for A level. Apparently I was wrong. So I'll probably reapply anyway. Mainly because I can do admissions tests this time (didn't want to last time because I like to avoid "unnecessary stress"), so I can apply for some of the more prestigious unis. Glad to hear of good news from others!!! And at the end of the day, grades aren't everything. Lots of successful people get average or terrible grades. I was expecting average, I got great, yet I'm still going to go on to do the same things (more or less), and I'm still going to be successful. Ave Terra and her people!
