Hi Amy, listening to your vlog it hit home on so many levels. I got my stoma (smiley) in July was not prepared had always been fit, active, healthy diet, 5yrs ex smoker, non drinker, never been in hospital and suddenly out the blue i end up in hospital, surgery and my whole life changed. Spent 6wks in hospital due to complications. I come home thinking it's going to be easy and i'm going to be fit and well in no time..... how wrong was i by the 4th week my appetite was gone, i was being sick and was severely dehydrated and ended up back in hospital for another 4wks. I have been home now for 4wks and have learnt so much and as you said still learning.I under estimated how long the recovery takes, how much strength and muscle i had lost and how hard it would be to put weight on all these things and more including understanding the condition and watching and listening to vloggers like yourself who can give you tips, advice and insight into the condition. Touch wood i am doing ok and am going to the hospital next month for a review of how my treatment is going. Keep the vlogs coming, i have to laugh while i was watching i put a cover over my filter to try stop pancaking and just after that i started hearing this really weird noise and thought "surely to god that's not my stoma " only for you to mention there was building work going on in the background.

Very well done presentation. Three weeks from surgery, can attest there are hopeful days and rough days. Am hoping that my bag awareness decreases and output gets more predictable. Right now these are a battle.

Hope you are keeping well, Chris! Glad you've been finding our videos useful during these early days with your stoma. You may find more useful help & advice on some of the blogs on our website (abiggerlife.com/) if you haven't already checked it out - there is certainly lots of information on output from your stoma.

Ten years, wow. I am so afraid of this surgery and even more of the recovery period.
