Lee Joo-Sil Squid Games Actress Dies At 81
Lee Joo-Sil, who played Park Mal Soon, the mother of undercover detective Hwang Joon-Ho (Wi Ha Joon) and stepmother of Hwang In Ho (Lee Byang Hun) in the second season of Netflix’s dystopian drama Squid Games, died at her family home in Uijeongbu, South Korea on February 2. She was 81 and was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November 2024.She was previously diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in her fifties and was given less than one year to live, but was diagnosed as cancer free 13 years later.
