Both my parents grew up Amish, ended up leaving and going to a Mennonite church. It's just like Carlos said. Some leave some stay. I have a lot of Amish cousins and they are incredible people. One fond and humorous memory I have is sitting on my couch with one of my Amish uncles helping him figure something out on his smartphone. I don't know if his Old order church permitted them or if he was sneaking it under the radar. He and my aunt were the quintessential elderly Amish couple and it was quite something to see them carrying their Android phones around. And, Carlos, I'm glad you went to Mount Hope Ohio. I'm from Holmes county and one of my favorite little coffee shops is in Mount Hope.

Interesting and enjoyable. I find my attention span getting shorter
because of my phone. I have always been a big reader. During Covid I started looking at TH-cam. Now I think I'm addicted. I make myself read a book every once in a while. I have read 2 1/2 books in the last month. I find many fiction books to be extremely boring now days. It could be because I am 67 years old and have read a plethora of books over the years, or it could be they are written with a plot formula and they just change the names, locations etc. Anyway I think Carlos's talk was very interesting.

I worked in the busy, quagmire of So Cal for 35 years, then retired back to my rural, quiet hometown in Ohio, surrounded by the Amish and intimately involved in a solid, biblical church with pastors from Southern Seminary (where RM taught). I relate to this conversation. However, what glaringly stood out to me was RM's describing a quiet time of solitude, where he tried to tell his younger self from 15 years ago, what had (tragically) happened to his life. That younger self seemed to be a solid believer, teacher, and mentor, who took a biblical stance on the gospel, ethics, and sexuality. However, after suffering from wokeism, TDS, and "progressive" cultural elitism, he is still wearing the same uniform but is actually playing for the other side (regarding spiritual warfare). Very sad situation...
