Oh yes the great sale out!🤑 When I look back it was fortunate that I got to play in Lacy J Daltons band. More old school. They had done some Hank Jr shows that were a lot of fun. Lacy actually gave me a writing credit on ‘Never Gonna Lose My Love’ (written partly on a tour bus somewhere in America)
Do you remember Allen Clark in Nashville? We were watching the CMAs that night when Big and Rich dropped this disgusting mess upon the world. We were literally staring at each other in disbelief. To this day I can't imagine the mentality of people that would do something so unashamedly anti country music. But that really was the moment when rap and hip hop entered the already bastardized world of "country" music. Recently I listened to the top 10 Billboard country songs and it was literally some of the worst stuff I've heard in my entire life. It isn't even human anymore. Great to hear from you Andy!
Nashville used to hold their classic country artists in the highest regard like royalty. I remember seeing this catastrophe of Big & Rich and I was just appalled!! I hope those great artists never saw any of that mess. It was like watching Kid Rock. Big & Rich and Kid Rock do have some good songs but not a fan of their stage shows.
Yes. Much like Aerosmith and Run DMC. But for country, it started with Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. Garth grew up as a KISS fan. He showed his true colors when he adopted that fake rocker persona Chris Gaines.
You nailed it! I should have interviewed you for this episode! I moved to Nashville in 1990 and was there when Shania and Garth were on top. It was the beginning of the end and all the great musicians hated to watch it happen. Thanks for watching!
What the hell was that?? I worked at a country music radio station in the late 1980s, and even then I quickly came to realize that it was just pop music with twangy guitars and sung with a fake southern accent --- just musical posturing, with cowboy hats thrown into the marketing.
Totally agreed. I lived and worked in Nashville’s music industry from 1990-95. Country music had been in serious decline for awhile. Then came Shania, followed by all the rest. But this was the night when rap was introduced into the mix. This was the moment when all semblance or illusion of Nashville being about country music died.
@@JonBlackstone I actually had no idea that THAT happened in 2004. It's all very Spinal Tap, in both obvious and subtle ways. There was nothing country about it. At least in the 80s and 90s, a lot of the so-called country music had good pop sensibilities. But that was just an abrogation of taste. I liked your editing on it, btw.
WOW this was in 2004 it looks like the same crap going on today......who buys that crap. Not Me! I really cant stand most music today for many reasons. I would rather listen to Lou Reeds Metal Machine Music Trout Mask Replica and Side 2 Of Live Peace in Toronto (the Yoko Ono side) back to back than that. (I do Like Captain Beefheart though) The Shaggs have more talent than those guys and are more enjoyable. LOL. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks for watching! Wow; if you’d rather listen to the Yoko side of Live Peace you must feel exactly like I do about the abomination is modern country music. It’s such a shame too. There used to be so many amazing artists in Nashville. Today it’s a clown show just like pop music. Thanks for making me laugh!
Thanks for watching! I love old country. Waylon, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Kris Kristopherson, Merle Haggard! Those dudes recorded some awesome stuff. If you’ve never checked them out you should. They were as rock n roll as any rock band (even more than some).
I can’t resist commenting on my own video. I still can’t believe how awful this is. It’s grotesquely, embarrassingly, shamefully awful.

Catastrophe is the perfect word! I wish I had thought of it! 😂

Yep
It’s a nightmare. Nashville should be ashamed for what it has become.

O my goodness, 🤯
What is this horse crap. 😅
😂😂😂 Isn’t it astonishing?! It’s beyond embarrassing. It’s downright shameful! Thanks for watching!
Still better than puke bryan😂
I would have to agree. 😆 at least these guys were actually performing. Thanks for watching!
😐
Country music has always sucked...and now it's getting even worse. Long live rock.
