That power pack brings back so many memories. In the days before central heating (For those who are old enough to remember those days) I used to put my socked feet on that to keep them warm... back in the days when I was in small enough sized socks to fit my feet on the unit. Good memories 😇🕹👌
@@8BitRetroReFix yeah thanks 🤩 I’m really happy with it just want to get the 8 Sid demos working lol 😂 those sockets are so bad lol. Thanks for the comment
@@Retro4u Yeah i dont like them crappy sockets .. Ghostbusters needs a good clean port and edge connector .. Looking forward to the live stream tomorrow :) ... See you soon :)
That’s great what flight ✈️ sim was it you used to play. I think I played one called flight 737 could never get of the ground lol 😂 thanks for the comment
Interesting. I wouldn't have thought the socket would be to blame for no audio. Does the SID chip have left / right audio out pins that could be probed with an oscilloscope or an amplified speaker to test the chip itself before removing the socket?
Yeah 👍 there may have been something I could had probed. But those sockets are that bad you don’t gat anything from them. The reason I didn’t use the scope was I tried a working chip in that socket and it to was dead 💀 thanks for the comment. I have a 1541 with issues and I’ve tested the chips all good but again It has those chips so I’ll probably replacing the sockets on that will fix it
@@Retro4u Thanks for the explanation. I have a homemade audio probe which connects to a pair of amplified speakers, it's useful for checking without the hassle of using a scope.
Quickshot were shite. I broke both the Quickshot 1 & 2. Also a TAC-2, and something else I can't quite remember - possibly one of the quickshot 2 variants. Finally got the Competition Pro and it was built to last.
cant stress how jealous i am right now :- ) these computers are now so rare there out the realms of small collectors tbh been waiting to snag 1 of these for a couple of years now but refuse to pay £250+ the whole retro scene is bonkers at the moment .

Thank you I enjoyed making it. Just need to get that cart or work. And of course give that keyboard a good clean 🧼. Thanks for the comment :)
I'm not really into original packaging... but I must say: That box is in AMAZING condition. I don't know why, but I'm slightly jealous even. Congrats!

Hi Neil,
SYS64738 will reset the 64 when typed in on the basic screen. Works the same way as a reset button.

Always slightly annoys me that the Commodore logo seems to be the wrong way round on the top poly.
Yeah 👍 i never really noticed perhaps 🤔 it was mistake in the mould lol 😂 thanks for the comment
Contact cleaner or IPA would have been my first go before exchanging the Socket...The chip might have been dirty as well
Yeah I get that. But I hate those sockets :) . Thanks for the comment
