Geez. The more I see videos of Tyne Daly, the more I become an even bigger fan. She acts. She sings. And in her acceptance speeches at awards ceremonies, she gives so many shout outs to the people she’s acted with. So talented and humble!!!
The most generous actress in the theater today. I've seen her 3 times on Broadway and folks, she's the best! What a beautiful speech. What a beautiful day.
I guess that explains why Tyne Daly has always been kind to the LGBT Community. This speech is one in a million. Many thanks to Tyne Daly and this fantastic cast for standing in celebration of our new justice.
A great lady; a great speech; a great show. I'm so proud to have lived to see all three and thrilled that all three are on Broadway this year making history not only moving but enormously entertaining. Thanks to all those who took the large and *small* steps which made this happen. The nation is filled with heroes today.
@Tyne Daly Congratulations on your marriage... on my birthday to boot! Thank you for your words of love and encouragement and caring and again.... LOVE!
She said in an interview once that they only way she and George Stanford Brown could find an apartment was if she went shopping for it and he only showed up after the lease was signed - This was NY in 1966 people.
Tyne is such a great actress. She uses her own marriage to Black man to focus on marriage equality for LGBT community. Ironically she does not mention James Daly, her actor father, who spent his last years in a relationship that was akin to a marriage. After James untimely death, Tyne & her siblings fought a protracted battle to keep her father's partner from getting any of the estate. The courts sided with the family, of course, as it was 'unseemly' in those days for gays to initiate those proceedings. It was ever rarer to prevail. True, it is almost 35 years on now and we are more 'progressive' but i have to wonder if Tyne feels anything about that episode given her strong comments here. The case was public knowledge at the time (Daly v. Jones) yet there is no mention in any online bio of Daly. I wonder....
married to a man with WHAT?? Do Harvey and Christine and the guys at the precinct know this Mary-Beth? Think of the children, Harvey junior and Michael!!
there is no concrete proof there is a "gay gene", one should read what was written 40 years or more on "what causes" homosexuality, and sigh, the balance of comments amout to shit, but you are enttiled to your opinions as I am, mine.
at some point, most, not all, children go through a stage of having same sex attractions, most outgrow this when entering pubery, other do not, that's my personal belief, on "what causes gayness" each to their own, take a chill pill
I love that she made the connection between Loving and Obergefell and it was personal and good and true. Thank you, Ms. Daly.

So eloquent. This made me tear up. Cannot wait to see this show in August!

This speech is still everything in 2019.
I love Tyne Daly so much!
Me too.

A great lady. I had the pleasure of seeing her in "Gypsy" years ago.
Thank you, Tyne, for such a beautiful and moving speech. I have many find memories of our childhood friendship.
"We're ALL getting a family out of it."

Wonderfully touching, to say the least.

interracial marriage and same sex marriage, comparing "apples and oranges" with respect, not the same thing at all.
Greg Rak Why do you say that? People don't choose sexual orientation or race.
you got it ALL wrong, race is what you are born with, sexual orientation, the jury still out on that one, "nature vs. nurture"

+Greg Rak So...you admit you went through a stage where you liked men? You admit you can see how it's possible to be attracted to the same sex.
