    Please ignore my comment below. I spoke in ignorance. I have since contacted RGF and spoke with the man that designs this system. He informed me that some EAC terminals do not put out proper HZ when first coming on and that can damage the REME. He wants all units installed with the transformer powered all the time and break the low voltage to the REME with an air proving switch or relay. He said if you always use the air proving switch, you won't have confusing different diagrams for your techs. Just get the line voltage right to the transformer and good to go.
    New diagrams may be coming out to replace the current ones.

    If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

    If you have a modulating furnace is it mandatory to use the air switch or can you connect it to the EAC? if you connect with the EAC do you have to use the relay?

      @@rgfgroup: can I purchase this unit from you? If so, what is the price and warranty? I have read that RGF will not honor warranty claims unless this unit was installed by a licensed contractor. I would install the Rene Halo LED myself since I have done all the electrical and HVAC in two homes I built. I see no way that I would improperly install this. Thanks.

    RGF instructions for relay installation all involve switching the primary side of the supplied transformer on and off. It seems to me that a better approach would be to switch the secondary side on and off (leaving the transformer always powered), similar to RGF's instructions for an air sensing switch. For air handlers that control the blower fan via the G terminal (fan control) only, the G and C (common) terminals could be connected to the relay coil terminals, and either of the transformer's secondary wires could switched via the NO (normally open) terminal on the relay.

  • @302COYOTE

    could you mount the airswitch inside the blower compartment for your neg , and running the + press swt tube out of the cabinet to the supply side with the power wire? this would just keep most of the wire connections inside the blower compartment minus the power wire to the unit.

    Thank you for the video! I was able to install it myself. The supplied rubber hose that came with the air switch is not long enough for both sides (positive and negative) - I only connected the return for now and it works. Question - what is the purpose of connecting both on the air switch - is it mainly for backup?

  • @AndyTanguay
    @AndyTanguay 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Does the orientation of the air switch make a difference? In the install manual it seems to be illustrated 180 degrees from this video.

    A guy came out and installed one at my house today, but didn’t use a rubber grommet for the air switch hose…just put it through an open hole. Is that going to be a problem?

    ALTERNATIVE to air movement sensor doo-dad:
    Install 24vac *NORMALLY CLOSED* (aka "NC") relay (cost me $18) that is connected to the fan/blower terminals (locate the BLUE and GREEN bell-wire connections) on the HVAC circuit board that are connected back to the thermostat. The link below is an excellent tutorial for how to do that. You will also need about 2x 12-24" of 14 AWG for the line and load terminals of your relay, plus enough bell wire to connect the sensor posts from the relay back to the thermostat blue and green terminals on the HVAC circuit board.
    When you open the HVAC cabinet panels are removed, a cutoff switch should stop main power from reaching the HVAC system. Make sure that happens before you proceed. If you are unsure or extra cautious, turn off the HVAC power circuit back at the house service panel. Don't be stupid, electricity can kill.
    Relay wiring summary, read this and then watch the video indicated below before you start:
    1. Find the NC ("normally closed") posts on the relay. Run one bell wire from the green thermostat terminal on the HVAC circuit board to one NC post on the relay, run another bell wire from the blue thermostat terminal to the other NC post on the relay.
    2. Connect one 110vac relay post to power source (black wire), connect the other 110vac relay post to the hot terminal going into the RGF 24vac transformer.
    3. Connect the RGF transformer 110vac common (white) to a 110vac common.
    For my 110vac hot and commons, I found the separate (not the RGF) 24vac transformer that feeds the HVAC 24v circuit board, and spliced in at that point. Watch the video, figure out what makes best sense to you.
    Figure an extra 30 minutes of labo to DIY the relay on top of the REME installation labor time, but there are no goofy air-pressure tubes or other exterior-cabinet lines.

      ALTERNATIVE: Use a 24v relay off of the FAN terminals (find the BLUE and GREEN bell-wire connections on the HVAC circuit board) that are connected to the thermostat. I found this excellent tutorial for how to do that. 24v relay cost me $18 from an HVAC supply store, plus about 24" of 14 AWG for the power to/from the relay line-side, plus another 24" of color-coded wire to run from the blue and green circuit board terminals to the relay coil-side. Figure an extra 30 minutes of labor to DIY the relay on top of the REME installation, but there are no goofy air-pressure tubes or other exterior-cabinet lines.

    Nice video and what you say works, but when Installing the REME LED to a furnace, it is easier to power the transformer from the EAC terminals on the furnace logic board and plug the 24 volt end of the harness into the unit and you are done. No airflow switch or relay is needed on the furnace installation. The furnace logic board is specifically designed to energize the EAC terminals anytime the blower turns on. Air handlers are different because they do not have EAC terminals. Then either the relay or the airflow switch is needed to install the unit properly.

      Does this work only when the furnace is running, or does this run when the AC is running, too? Mine was installed without tje air sqirxh only runs when furnance us on. Is this normal?

    • @brianshimp8299

      @@shanew7361 The REME Halo LED should turn on any time the air is being circulated in the home, both heating and cooling and even just fan on. However, it should not be on 24-7. The REME Halo LED does need to turn off and on in order to clean little brushes that you cannot see that are under the plastic cover on the end in the duct. This happens each time the unit turns on. Brian Shimp So my contractor didn't install this properly cheaped out and were lazy. They did not install the air switch kit. Mine only functions when the furnace is running. They are coming out tomorrow to have a look. Suggestions on what to say and ask them? My furnace was replaced in October 2022 along with the Reme. Or does one not need the air switch for it to turn on during AC and heating? I got a Carrier 2 stage 125k btu.

    • @brianshimp8299
      @brianshimp8299 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@shanew7361 That Carrier gas furnace has EAC terminals that get 120 volts every time the fan in the furnace turns on. They can put a 120 volt coil relay on those EAC terminals and have the relay cycle the low voltage to the REME or they can install the air proving switch.
      Here are my comments from before that are accurate. If they don't like them, they can call RGF like I did.

    Just to keep the air circulating in my house I run the fan every hour for 30 minutes from 7AM to 10PM no matter whether the cooling or heating is on or off.
    Would using Halo LED be an option in such case or I should go with Reme HALO, possibly Zero? Thank you.

    • @jeremymorgan7199
      @jeremymorgan7199 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The L1 is powering the transformer not the halo. The 24V coming from transformer powers halo but you're breaking the 24 with the air switch. Just like a float switch pretty much

    Quick question Mike. What would happen if the Halo-LED Barrel Plug gets unplugged? The homeowner installed one of those in the apartment where I live with my family and we've been getting sick often after its installation. The homeowner refuses to uninstall it.

    • @TheNorthsquad

      The UV light isn't what's making you sick, even if it unplugged. Unistalling it would make no difference at all

    • @selwyn13
      @selwyn13 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You probably getting those symptoms b/c u have mold which will happen if that UV light is unplugged (assuming it's not hardwired), that outlet isn't working, the breaker for that outlet tripped for whatever reason, if the bulb is burnt out. Shouldn't be the other way around.

    My technician has just installed the reme halo LED by connecting directly to the circuit board and it keeps it staying on at all times. Is this an incorrect way? And it is close to air filter in the direction of airflow.

    • @rgfgroup

      Hi Sammie! Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend that the HALO LED is wired to cycle on and off with the blower. The REME HALO on the other hand is wired to run continuously.

      Hi Allie! Thank you for your inquiry. The REME is not an ozone generator, but I know what you mean. The REME HALO does have an adjustable shroud so you could have your contractor open that up all the way to increase the output.
