- I despise the guy, of course I pitied him before the events of the Eclipse, but I do think he could have taken an alternative path avoiding the situations all together.

Griffith didn't even really mean it, he was lying to himself, as he had come to care about Guts about as much as he cared about his dream.

Griffith was the root cause. He literally saw everything as a tool to his own ambitions. The interesting thing about this character is that he knows that this is his nature and knows that it’s wrong and still can’t help it.

So when Griffith became Femto he became an astral being, something that can't be hurt physically. He decided that he still wanted his kingdom on Earth aka Falconia but to do this he had to have a ton of people die in the Tower of Rebirth. Long story short Griffith is reincarnated into our world as both a physical/astral being. He effortlessly sways tons of people over to his side and he is seen as a savior of humanity. Humans and demons live peacefully in his kingdom. They don't know what he's actually like and Guts is just trying to live his life in this messed up world Griffith created. Recently he just kidnapped Caska again for unknown purposes.
