One-week construction time-lapse with closeups: Week 7 of the Ⓢ-series

- Week 7 in the ongoing Ⓢ series, which follows the construction of a new 13-story senior living building in San Francisco. This is a #construction #timelapse with various closeups and "sub-time-lapses" at various speeds, condensing the week of March 16 - 21, 2020, into about 28 minutes.
This week there's lots of rebar, pipes and conduit. Excavation continues, although we're getting towards the end of the excavation (we see some of the equipment being taken away). The parade of trucks continues. One of the colorful neighbor characters passes by the site. This is one of the few weeks when there's no work on Saturday, so I pulled back and let Saturday fly by as a "traditional" time-lapse.

Nice, at 21:00 the cart guy cracked me up. But - question why are the dirt guys not using at least a skid steer to grade the sub-base? Seems weird they are continuing to use track hoes when the work could be so easy, faster and more accurate using a skid steer.
Picture quality is amazing for those close ups!
No work on Saturday mean the project is on schedule.

Great video, as always. Quick question if anyone knows, what were the folks doing along the sides where they were each working in a boxed off hole. It also happened in last weeks video as well.
I believe they were removing soil btw the soldier piles and placing wood lagging. Then they appeared to add some wire mesh and shotcrete it. Not sure why they needed to shotcrete in front of the lagging.

Never knew we had covert construction crew ... identities blurred and concealed to protect the innocent undercover construction worker....? Not sure why that's the case here, since there's no assumption of privacy when in public, and here in America, cannot expect to have your identity hidden from the public, when the scene is visible to the public.
Probably so if management sees the video and construes something done as wrong or "screwing off" or whatever, it can't be used to pin the blame on a specific worker.
Anyone see around 12:02 the bucket in the right excavator curled? Can anyone see if there someone inside or if it was the hydraulics giving out?
Yes, that's been visible several times in the overnight hours in the past few weeks. Looks like it just leaks down.
When not in the machines, operators are meant to rest the bucket on the ground in case it does that while someone is in the way, hydraulics will do that as they leak slightly past internal seals.
Michael Willis same thing happens with a lot of floor jacks exactly why you’re supposed to use jack stands when working under a car that’s lifted up. Yes I’m sure you’re aware but just saying it anyways xD

I think I did better than he did. Although to be fair, this rebar was more layered, deeper, and less stable than the rebar I walked on.
@@HospitalConstruction Old fatboy was taking his sweet time walking across that rebar. Most of it was just laying there without being tied-down yet, so was a but bouncy

Good title for a country song
You have done a really nice job on this. I have watch from the first week. I have a high rise being build across from my building and doing a time-lapse also. I'm using a raspberry pi so the quality is not as good. Right now I am taking an image every 10 min, do you think that is too long?
The problem with construction is that different aspects of it go at different rates. Some parts you really want to slow down and see and other times there are long periods with nothing much to see (especially towards the end). In my case, I'm using many cameras, most which are recording at normal speed. Which requires many TB of disk space and a lot of condensing and editing later. If you only have one camera, the best you could do is record as many images as you can and then throw out or speed up uninteresting periods later during editing.
What week will we see the building start to rise?
Great videos... keep them coming. One question (sorry I if it has been asked already) but what is going on with the holes they dig on either side of the site and then place rebar and shotcrete them over ? at :45 and 18:11.

just curious why trucks are not overfilled like 5:54. Here the trucks are overfilled and much easier to remove the dump from the site :)
Weight i imagine, our 10 cubic metre trucks can only carry 7 cubic metres of some products, 10 metres of others

Are there multiple projects or is this the same project from different cameras?
The current "S" series is all one project, a senior living facility on Van Ness in San Francisco. The many years of earlier videos featured two other projects. One was the hospital a block down Van Ness for which the channel is named, and the other was a medical office building across Van Ness from the hospital.
The building being constructed is one project. You may from time to time glimpse work in the street that is part of another project (Bus Rapid Transit lane and utility upgrades).

It appeared to me that he asked first -- you can see him pointing in view of the driver through the back window.
It looked like a bottle of water to me.

That's actually the boss in disguise checking up on the guys. He forgot to take off his hard hat though.

Нет, больницы в россии строятся уж очень долго один раб сто прораб🤣🤣🤣. Вот жилой дом с отделкой под ключ в 15 20этажей могут за год
