      Extemp coach here: The repetition is a strategy, not an accident. Effective rhetoric differs depending on if it is written or spoken. If this was a written speech, meant to be read, then I agree that it is too formulaic and repetitive. However, when speaking to a group, the repetition is important to ensure that your main ideas are heard and remembered.
      As a reader, I can go back and review any part of your argument to refresh my memory or check your line of reasoning. In a speech, that won't work. If I'm a listener and my wanders or someone near me coughs during a key point, it's lost forever. Because of that, the speaker condenses their points down to their most potent and straightforward wording and establishes and reestablishes those points repeatedly.
      Repetition and parallel structure can be observed being used by the greatest orators in history. It's not a mistake, it's a strategy.
