You should see the Theatre Mission. It ends by the Player turning on the Theatre Projector that should display a recorded video. Guess what ? A FUCKIN SLIDESHOW. And not as a Cutscene - only in-game... You are standing next to the Projector (aka during gameplay) and the Slideshow is going on the screen in front of you... Seriously, check it out. It's just idiotic...
If we could get a few AAA titles that don't scream "our dev studio is filled with Bay Area/New England art college grads that don't know how to say no to bad ideas", that would be great.
@Jo Taelman Although the lack of character in It's writing is what makes this game aesthetically look frustratingly generic than it really is. Honestly the worst thing I can say is that this game is kind of like Evolve.
Bro, Just watch from 9:0013:15 and just look at the beautiful gameplay and storytelling, The vampire was so scary after it vanished to go make sure the oven upstairs wasn't on and then return to actually fight, and the cutscene was so amazing I mean I've never seen such a fluid Power Point presentation in my entire life
Don't even get me started on Gameplay. Remember that IGN Gameplay that the internet was laughing about ? Yeah, that wasn't IGN. The Gameplay is literally that bad.
Damn they better do actual animation in Redfall 2. People are pissed about the powerpoint presentation. There is so much space and lore to make more gameplay and storyline.
My 2 cents: Mixed, Great Lore (love that), needs to be harder, overall good time-killing game to screw around with friends in, maybe an update or DLC could bring some redemption. Open ending leaves room for sequel or spin-off which is nice, could be a redemption. Who knows? Nice character design.
This game has so much issues, that I doubt a Story DLC will fix that. This game needs a serious Gameplay Overhaul, let alone the Story one. And the Missions... Like remember that IGN Ganeplay the internet was laughing about ? Yeah, that wasn't IGN. The game is literally made like that...
@@thefiresworddragon927 Some people theorized that the Cutscene Budget went into the Trailers and Introduction Videos they released shortly before the game's premiere. Which looking back at those, yeah that would actually make sense.
It's not getting bombed. It's getting rightfully criticized. Because it's just a bad game. The Story and Lore is cool, but it's straight up wasted in this game. The Slideshow Cutscenes is a cool concept, but it was executed poorly here. The in-game Cutscenes (which is like 95% of all Cutscenes) are either "NPC talks to you, but you don't talk back, and the NPC just assumes you agree" (like it's not even a gameplay thing - you literally in-Universe don't answer them) - or the Memories, that are literally in-game Cutscenes that look bad and are a waste of time (and mind you, you have to do them to progress Story). The Gameplay is out-dated, to say the least. You can carry up to 3 Weapons, but you can't switch on demand - you have to circle through them (mind you, even games over a decade ago didn't do that). Fighting with Vampires is idiotic, because all they do is jump distances, dodge every attack, and teleport around - meanwhile you can't shoot them and there is no way to stop them from doing that. The Enemy AI itself is just a bad joke... Do you know how you can beat literally every Enemy in this game ? Stand behind a chair and they won't attack you, because of the collision they just get stuck... Oh and there's that one big Boss, that can spawn in the City to "hunt" you - so literally just jump on a Car and you are safe for good. Enemies might as well not exist. Because they literally don't. You can walk through the entire World Map and not encounter a single enemy. They spawn literally only around your Mission Area, and near Safehouse Locations. Other than that - practically nothing. Half of the Ability Tree is straight up useless (on every Character). For example: There are Perks that give you extra damage VS humans, whom you literally one-shot in the head, with nearly every gun (even without those Perks). Meanwhile Vampires need 3-4 headshots, and there is no way to increase that damage (like literally - even weapon damage itself doesn't matter here). There are Perks that straight up make your Character Abilities become completely pointless or do something completely different (in a worse way). You can't even get to Max Level in one Playthrough, even if you do literally every Side and Story Mission (which normally would be okay, if Levels were account-wide; but they are character-restricted, so you literally can't get to max level). Oh and they have Weapon Rarity in the game. Only it's completely pointless, because it doesn't actually do jacksh_t. And the Missions... Nearly every Mission ends with "find a Key to open door" or "find a specific item to progress." Practically every Side Mission is literally just a Fetch Quest. Safehouse Missions are just repeatable locations to clear out (which is usually just 3-4 human enemies, that can hardly aim). Oh and you have to do Side Missions to unlock Story Missions (but not because they are connected via the Story or something - only just because). This game is getting the criticism it deserves in every way. You assumed that people hate it just because it's a Microsoft Exclusive - which is just dumb. Hell, I'm pretty sure a lot of people expected a Microsoft Exclusive to actually be a lot better than that... Especially when the Game costs $70 and there is *literally nothing* to back that price.

Game play didn't look too hard till near the end (maybe that's just the difficulty level setting). Story was interesting; I'm not into vampires but it's nice to see different takes on that much rehashed lore. Voice acting was nice especially the main character; the script was ok enough. The ending leaves it open for what should prby be a DLC rather than a sequel; I just didn't get the impression the effects were much beyond the island of Redfall. Still, I'll watch what they make to continue the story. Thanks @ GLP! 🐧
