In this second season episode of the mid-90s series, Phil ventures to Nintendo of Canada's Power Pod and Sega of America to check out some upcoming games, while Nick talks about some video game comics. Featuring the long-fabled, cancelled, Sonic X-Treme for the Saturn. Other topics featured include Gen Con, Robot Wars and frozen yogurt, among others.
Note: I left in a few "classic" Nintendo commercials that originally aired with the show.

My morings of the mid 90's on the Sci Fi channel. Man I really miss this show!!!
It also came on Kids WB as well in the mornings too but rarely.

Wow, the Nintendo Power Pod... I have vivid memories of that place and winning a home run derby competition on the inferior Ken Griffey sequel that Rare did. All I got was a t-shirt and the knowledge that the sequel wasn't as good as the original :(.

8:55 This was THE first time I ever remember seeing the N64 "nintendo ultra 64" on tv -- that is of course, on YTV -- presented by PJ Phil. I remember wondering later on why all the release buzz called it only the 'Nintendo 64' -- and dropped the 'Ultra'. Turned out it was its development name. That controller design -- and the 3D mario world --- had my attention. Still my favourite childhood console --- Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Super Smash, Perfect Dark, (ported) Tony Hawk 1 & 2, Donkey Kong 64, Wayne Gretzkys 3D Hockey 98 ... the list goes on and on.

The first time I saw the Ultra 64 was on NBC's saturday edition of "The Today Show." Watched nearly 2 hours before they got to the segment. They featured the Playstation, Saturn and Jaguar as new systems for the holidays, along with Donkey Kong Country on SNES and I BELIEVE one of the Vectorman games on Genesis (memory is a little fuzzy) for pushing the graphical boundaries of the older systems going. Then they pulled out Mario 64 with one of the Bowser rooms to show off the system almost an entire year before the thing came out over here.
I taped it, but be damned if I know where that tape is. Probably ended up getting tossed out over the years.
I was expecting it to be more hardcore with the name Ultra 64. I could picture Killer Instinct on it just like the arcade. But that obviously never happened and they turned it into a kids gaming system. We still had lots of fun with it anyways.

Would you happen to have the episode where they feature Neversoft's game "Apocalypse" starring Bruce Willis? I think it was season 5 "PotLuck"
I only had a few episodes, but I don't think that is one of them. I'm pretty sure SciFi Channel only carried the first three seasons in the US. Sorry.

And then there are a bunch of people who really hate G4 and feel the need to tell people about it. So, maybe there are three groups.... I think. My math is getting fuzzy. Anyway, G4 is coming back!
