- I've seen a lot of confusion on what paths the characters follow, some characters are on a different path than what their role says in game. So I would like to hopefully clear up the confusion a bit.

Jingliu mentioned that she already earned the gaze of an aeon, we don’t know which aeon but she still swears to bring the abundance down.

My wild guess would be finality, but I think finality and destruction path do overlap a bit so idk.

Did you know that the Omniscia of Fu Xuan was gifted by Nous? And he even met her once? It was stated in March 7's companion quest. Her predicting ability came from Nous's calculations. So she has deep ties in Erudition.
Up. As a fu xuan main, I was surprised they didn't mention this in the video.
Just speculation, but I think Nous wanted Fu Xuan to enter the Genius Society but she would not renounce her ultimate loyalty to Lan.

The word lore can be used as a substitute for backstory, as in, the backstory to her 3rd eye is Nous.
While canon is the way things *are* or at least *are supposed to be* , like how she's supposed to be following the Hunt considering it's canon all Xianzhou natives are followers of Lan

Wanna point out that in Serval's Companion Quest, she does float the idea of joining the Astral Express and is close to doing so if it wasn't for a bit of convincing from Gepard, so ultimately she doesn't go through with it. Do personally like the idea that eventually we could get more people switching their current path to join the Astral Express.
well neither Dan Heng or March joined because of their belief in the Trailblaze, Dan Heng just wanted to get away from being the reincarnation of the High Elder while March was adopted by the Express with no memories. 🤔

I like the idea that Silver Wolf actually gonna join Express IF we find her first before Stellaron Hunter
The reason why so few recieve the gaze or blessing because nobody truly understand the ideal or what the Path represent. An subtle theme that I had noticed about the rooster that lot of them seem to follow the path out of tradition, mob mentality or is part of their society not real belief behind them.
Qingque, Sushang and Tingyun seems to follow the Path of Hunt because either out of duty towards their nation or was thaught at young age. While Yukong, despite the loss of her flying partner and losing her faith in Lan, still loyal to the Luofu.
Gepard is another case of just following the Preservation because that's his job as Silvermane guard or his duty as Landau.
The whole IPC motto is for Qiplot, and yet their actions are going against it's ideals. Meaning that the whole following the Preservation is more a propaganda or marketing tool than actual belief.
The Anihlitation gang just "follow" the Destruction because of Ifrit's teachings, but not understanding it.

You can argue that fu xuan follows more with nous then lan and also jing yuan isnt stated to be an emanator he is just blessed by lan, like how fu xuan is blessed by nous.

Pathstriders can tap into the power of their respective Paths as long as their ideals align with those of the Path. Emanators are those that have been given permission to tap into that power directly. Every member of the Genius Society is hand-picked by Nous. However, only Herta and Zandar have been bestowed power by Them. All the other society members like Ruan Mei and Screwllum have simply been acknowledged by Nous. The whole reason the newest weekly boss exists is because Ruan Mei is NOT an Emanator.
I forget where exactly cuz it's been a hot minute but Jing Yuan is literally called an emanator of the hunt in one of the story missions. I believe Phantylia is the one to call him that since she seems fond of addressing people by titles like "Scion of Permanence" for Dan Heng.

He's never explicitly stated to be an Emanator. However, it's not a huge leap in logic. JY is one of the Arbiter-Generals. Welt states they're directly comparable in power to the Lord Ravagers, who are confirmed Emanators for the Destruction.
the character paths ingame is just a label/class types ( ex. mage, warrior, archer)
preservation = shielder, dmg mitigation
harmony= buffers
nihility= debuffers
erudition= crowd dps
hunt= single target dps
destruction= blast dps(sacrifices something to dmg ex. consuming health/skillpoints)
abundance= healers
people then mix it up with the factions/paths in lore which is why causes confusion
Part of the issue is that we have characters whose in-game path match with their lore path like Luocha and Herta.

Nihility is debuff/DoT, but since DoT can also be considered debuffs its very odd, then clara is more tank then dps with her ultimate.

Also In-game, destruction are describe as both tanky and hits hard(perfect example are clara and blade) but now they are weaker on defense(IL and jingliu) but in other hands, they actually has decent survivability(or something depends on what you call) from their trace(bonus res)

4:30 Stellaron Hunters might get their powers from or worship the Path of the Trailblaze based on their faction's placement in the Data Bank which is placed right between Astral Express and The Nameless section (all factions in the Data Bank are sorted by their path, ex: Xianzhou and Galaxy Rangers are right next to each other whereas the Architects and IPC are next to each other)
I always thought that they would follow the path of finality due to their focus on the future and the end results of their actions.

Ratio (my beloved) also has a voice line related to Nous when he reaches the max level. "If this day I have not gained the recognition of Nous, it stands to reason that I never will in the future." Though his path in the game is The Hunt, the Aeon he truly craves validation from is Nous.
If you haven't read Dr. Ratio's story details in the "information" section of his character, I highly recommend you do so. It's actually quite sad, in my opinion. This is one of the several reasons I believe he's not an actual narcissist like many people say he is.
In some cases the path is more align with the character's personality. Bronya and asta try to balance everything to not make bad decisions, so harmony. Sampo doesn't care about anything but his traffics, so nihility. Serval was a scientist and still likes to study about jarilo's history, erudition, gepard wants to protect everyone, preservation. Hunt characters are usually direct and determined (seele, topaz, ratio) and it may be hard to change their mind about something. but there are many who are not align, march for example has nothing to do with preservation. Clara has nothing to do with destruction and many other examples. Or maybe they are hiding something 👀 clara is the new crisis on jarilo!!!!

If I am not wrong, you get on a path trough your actions, emotions and thoughts......with means you could change paths kinda easy but idk how this works for like our mc......I mean they said before they are ok the trailblazer path becs they have that blessing that protects them from very bad temperatures but at the same time they are on different paths....like how does that work

@@DSCH4 it's not really a question of intelligence though, if you look at the genius society you only see people who would do anything in order to further their research, see Herta, Screwlumm and the best example is Ruan Mei, Nous does not care about what you do with knowledge or the morality of the researchs, he only gaze upon those who would do anything to know.
This goes completely against Dr.Ratio and subsequently the intelligentsia guild values, they want to share every knowledge in the world for a better future, they care about teaching other people this knowledge and making sure it's accessible and safe, the genius society just cares about discovering things, just the act of discovering/ studying their respective fields, not sharing the results, most of the results of their researches died with many members or at least only them know because they don't care about other people, at least not more than their research, so as a person you are morally shady at least if you're part of the genius society, like the game says that if all the discoveries the genius society made were public, the civilization would progress thousands of years of technology.
So you can say that Dr.Ratio is too good as a human being to be part of the genius society, and of course this makes me curious to what exactly Stephen is, like how he is as a person, if he got the gaze of Nous but lives such mundane life, I wonder what his research actually is, I doubt it's just games, as a future game developer I don't think it's logical, specially with the information we have about him.

As someone pointed Inteligentsia guild are followers, Genius society is more of a label? Doesn't really seem like they join even, whoever in pursuit of knowledge draws Nous' gaze gets a number and membership, then they mostly fuck off to do their own thing.
The paths of the aeons all have an objective: the Hunt wants to kill the Abundance, the Erudition wants to know everything about the universe to understand its meaning, the Remembrance wants to archive everything, the Destruction wants to destroy the everything and even himself afterwards...
But I wonder what happens to those paths where there's a finite objective and they obtain it, the simplest example is the Hunt, what happens when Lan the Hunt will finally kill Yaoshi the Abundance? After that there's nothing, what will happen to the aeon the path?

Well we know that Aeons can die for example, so being an Aeon doesn't necessarily mean embodying an eternal idea. Perhaps some Aeons exist only during certain ages where their ideal makes sense - just like in real life, religion is always evolving and the monotheistic religions that exist now are far removed from what they originally were, and some religions are no longer worshipped by any culture
We know that "minor" paths existed and implied to still exist to some degree. They kind of have/had a tendency to get assimilated into bigger ones though, analogous to how conquering cultures have a tendency absorb traditions rather than outright purging them. Leads me to believe that the Hunt and Abundance paths will eventually merge.
The notion of an eternal abundant hunt does not strike me as contradictory in the least. In a way, the Xianzhou's already following this quasi-merged path. Travelling amongst the stars, seeking "abundance" and reaping it, rinse, repeat, very much like the nomadic hunter gatherer societies of old.
The path continues, there will still be those who hunt. Lan might get replaced though.
I assume that once the Hunt kills the Abundance, it'll either change in some way, or be assimilated by a broader or different path relating to hunting or tracking something else.
The Paths always existed and will continue to exist...but if the aeon of hunt will kill his prey, he either has to find new prey or die for he follows that path no more
Fu Xuan is bonafide follower of erudition, she is literally an operator of jade abacus aka supercomputer and in the story she explicitly said so.
Is she though? Though hers (and anyone within the divination commission) power has its foundation in the Erudition she ultimately uses that power in the service of the Hunt.

Then Fu Xuan walks the path of Erudition, the omniscia was a gift from The Erudition, she fully believes in Nous' calculations and goes for the one that will keep the most people safe, and she is willing to exchange her own pain for knowledge, just to not make another fatal mistake that would cost that much, she herself mentioned this is the very creed of The Wisdomwalker(Nous)
@YeahItsJustZ In retrospect, it's probably more appropriate to consider the Hunt the Xianzhou's "national religion" of sorts. Its the foundation of their culture, and its likely most natives consider themselves as followers of that path but ofc, as in real life, one's personal faith or, in this case, path can differ. Fu Xuan is indeed an example of this. She works in the service of Lan by merit of her position, but is in a follower of Erudition.
Some of the in game paths are so off character that it's kinda funny. Sparkle being a harmony character for example

I have this theory that people might belong to factions that follow specific aeons, but the characters own values and opinions are what determine their path eg. Jing yuan, he should be a hunt character since he is from the Xianszhou, but he as a person is more close to the erudition.
This actually tracks with the info given in the databank. A pathstrider doesn't need to explicitly follow the path to fall on it, and just because someone follows a path doesn't mean they're a pathstrider for it. I think in Jing Yuan's case, ppl are too fixed on the assumption he's an Emanator of the Hunt even though this has yet to be confirmed in game. And even if he is, there's nothing implied in game yet that a person can only receive power from a single Aeon.
then that wouldn't make sense for the case of Danheng as his 4 star version is hunt but his 5 star version is destruction. one person cannot stride 2 path as the same time like how there is no aeon of 2 path, there is only 1 aeon of 1 path so 1 person only walk on 1 path.

Nihility and Destruction are very similar; and so is abundance with harmony, at least when it comes to what they believe in.
A person would be able to firmly believe in more than one without the ideas clashing

I love how Sparkle is using the Path of Harmony to sow disharmony.
Luocha says in the story cutscene that his power stems from the Abundance, meaning he either is a creation of the Abundance which is just about impossible or someone who just walks the path, either way he follows the Abundance but if a conflict of the Hunt and Abundance occurs he sides with the Hunt for the reason Jingliu said, in a war between gods if he stands with the Abundance then he stands to lose
Edit: he may be an emanator of the abundance as a story conversation between Jing yuan and Fu xuan reveals only an emanator could sneak the stellaron onto the Luofu
Luocha follows Abundance, but he sounds against Yaoshi, it's leader.... both he and Jingliu are gunning for Yaoshi, not the elimination of the Path. Recall in the Luofu story quests, after Kafka was probed by the Matrix, she's talking to the Trailblazer about the lost Aeons (as individual beings). Same time, Luocha was doing healing-repair on Xueyi in the seperate story section.

One interesting thing about Elio is that in the simulated universe at the beginning of the game, you get tidbits of a conversation with Fuli that they supposedly had with Elio. Obviously its the simulated universe and it could've been purely a random illusion similar to how it describes kafka and nanook in the same scene but its food for thought.

my interpretation is that they follow a path but with different ideas or different visions of said paths. e.g Bronya's idea of Preservation is through Harmony.

I think there are three separate definitions for when you say someone is following a path that isn't gameplay-related.
1) They belong to the group of people who worship an Aeon and their path.
2) They are recognized by the Aeon and/or receive their blessings
3) They personally believe in the ideology of a path.
A few examples include the people on the Xianzhou Luofu who were dissatisfied the the Hunt and expressed desires to receive Yaoshi's blessing. They are followers of the Hunt according to the first definition, but not the third definition. You can extend this logic to theorize about the IPC and the Genius Society.
Both the annihilation gang and the current trailblazers, follow and believe in the ideology of their respective Aeon. However, both groups never receive recognition from their Aeon. So they fit within the first and third definitions, but not the second.
Aha, the Aeon of Elation turned a Noblesse Worm into their emanator and granted the power of the entire path of another worm. These two worms are technically their follower according to the second definition, but not the first and third
I think that Welt is from the path of Finality, since he is a Herrscher and there's a great possibility that Terminus is the Cocoon of Finality, so since it fused with Kiana Kaslana, now Kiana is the new Aeon of Finality.
1. The English translation is the same but the Chinese characters for finality in Cocoon of Finality and Terminus The Finality are different
2. Not to mention the Cocoon and Terminus have different goal/ purpose
AFAIK there’s no lore in Star Rail pointing to Kiana existing there. So, I rate this theory one baseless speculation out of infinity.

tbh i would argue that Lynx "follows" trailblase and not preservationt . It seems wrong to me to assume that just because somebody lives on the surface of Belobog they are authomatically a follower of Qliphoth - even if the cult of preservation seems to be the official religion here
Lynx has nothing to do with stability, duty or preserving something - she is a textbook adventurer and explorer who is more intrigued by the snow plains and the ruins hidden in them then by anything else. And, as if that wasnt enough, she openly says she'd like to join the express someday when she's done with her expeditions - and unlike serval she has no sense of duty towards belobog, as she's never worked with the architects before
and same goes for the lofu characters: just because officially they worship Lan it doesn't mean they all follow hunt - it might be their official ideology, but paths are about beleifs and values. Fu Xuan being blessed by Noose has already been mentioned, but paths are a broader concept than "a god your planet worships". Qinque is lazy and prone to self-sabotage enough which falls in line with Nihility - not because she suddenly decided that the world is meaningless, but rather because this is just the closest to her personality
also, argenti's powers coming from the path of beauty isn't exactly a weird thing: aeons may die, but their paths stay and can be used by pathstriders, the Trailblaze being a perfect example of this

there will always be medics in the armies of lan, and there will always be killers in the legions of yaoshi, because every path is needed

i think i saw a theory where elio is a follower/emanator of the finality aeon. the finality is the one that lives with the time going backwards, simply knowing everything that happened and would happen, which is similar to elio (who sees futures through his scripts). this is just a theory, a game theory
Iirc Path you follow and group you belong to can be different.
And you can follow multiple paths too.
If you're born in belobog it doesn't automatically makes you a follower of preservation.
But if you're prone to destroy things or self destructive activities then you're gonna be destruction if you want it or not ( or even if you're aware of it or not)

I’ve always thought that the path that the characters were given was just the way they think.
Example is probably how in-game on the loading screens they say those who were given the path of destruction are characters of reckless, wrathful, or destruction. The applies to Clara as she can be reckless, Blade as he’s all 3, Jingliu as shes also all 3, and others.
They tell us in the loading screens what it takes for people to get a certain path.
It’s actually not that complicated, because human minds don’t follow a strict set of rules of logic and rules theres always room for deviation, which means its possible for a person to walk multiple paths (which himeko and welt mention) theres is conscious and subconscious factor when following a path, the express crew follow the path of the trailblaze but because they are human they subconsciously follow a different path, take march she loves her found family and her experiences which is why she takes photos she wants to preserve the memories she experiences, another is blade he doesn’t hate all life like the antimatter legion his main goal is to finally die so the path he walks is self “destruction”, so in game the path a unit walks is an ANSWER to a question we have to piece together through their character lore and story.

Bailu received an incomplete version of the powers of Imbibitor Lunae which is why many people confuse Bailu and Baiheng (also because of their names)

I was thinking of the possibility of an Antiaeon. An antiaeon functions similarity to an Aeon in terms of energy and power but is instead powered through quantum energy and the sea of quantum rather than imaginary energy. An antiaeon such as the antiaeon of randomness could be responsible for the quantum uncertainty of an electron and its powers would incorporate electricity and randomness. Imagine antiemanators who are powered through antiaeons.
I have a suspicion that a Hunt path March 7th will be released, bc in the original trio (Trailblazer, Dan heng, March) their respective paths were destruction, hunt, and preservation, now we have preservation mc, destruction Dan heng, so Hunt March might release after we get her lore.
I think Yukong actually rejected the path of the Hunt after Caiyi's death, I think it's mentioned in an in game entry
Additionally, paths are philosophical concepts, therefore it's likely that individuals associated with factions like the Xianzhou can follow other paths. This is especially true for the Xianzhou in fact, because their fleet is a bunch of literal planet ships with entire populations living on them, and we've seen in the story that a bunch of Xianzhou natives follow the path of Abundance, all in all, it's very unlikely that so many people follow only the Hunt. This most likely also applies to Belobog albeit maybe less than to the Xianzhou due to their small number and the prevalence of the Preservation in keeping them alive, and to some extent it probably applies to Penacony and every other planet we're going to visit.
We now know that gallagher is a follower of enigmata
I think the stellaron hunters could be a secret faction that follows Finality. Because when you think about it, why did they hunt down/ steal stellaron specifically? Why are they so obsessed with "our" journey's end? How does Ellio able to see the future? Who knows? Maybe Ellio could be one of the eminentor of Finality?
i think its unlikely that the stellaron hunters all follow a path as a group in a way similar to IPC staff following preservation or the xianzhou following lan, most likely they each have their own ideas (or maybe they don’t even follow any specific paths) but stick together because of elio
My line of thinking was that gameplay paths are mostly non-canon. We need em just for LC effects and "roles" of the different characters, they are technically still empowered by the path they follow.

i like to think of the path ingames as battle styles more than actuaol paths because of this exactly. a lot of characters have their path in the story lines as well as others ramain a mystery. so yeah, i think of it as a battle style, i think it fix better
there r a few thing i want to add or note about:
- Jingyuan being emanator or not is not confirm yet, there might be some hint suggest so but until it is confirm then Jingyuan being emanator is a theory or a headcanon as best. i know Welt cmt about how the general is on par with lord ravager but he is talking about in term of power, not really about the general was also emanator like lord ravager
- Being a member of a genius society doesn't make them an emanator so Ruanmei is not an emanator like Herta. From the way i understand, Genius Society member are like candidate for that position of an emanator that Nous choose
- another misconception people do have that i saw normally and from this video cmt: Pathstrider don't gain the power directly from the aeon, they r gained through the path whether the path have an aeon or not so case like Argenti, his power still likely come from path of beauty. While aeon and path have a close relationship but the path is like a natural laws that will always exist even if the aeon died (for example if you somehow erase everything about newton and his writing on law of gravity, delete every text, his existence and everyone memory of him and his law, gravity would still exist)
Hoyo made a post abt Emamators on their app some time ago where they said that Arbiter Generals are Emanators and since JY is the current general, he's an Emanator.
Another confirmation came at the end of Penacony when Acheron (or Black Swan, I don't remember who) said when JY came to help against Sunday that Emanators were clashing

Unknown but I'd say there's three(four) possibilities
Elio either follows Finality, Equilibrium or Erudition. Terminus already knows the future and Nous has the ability to calculate it which both could be the reason for his foresight. Then he could also follow Equilibrium and lie abt having foresight and just use that control to keep the universe balanced. (Elation is the "fourth" possible path but that's just saying that Elio is doing all this for the fun of it which is unlikely but not impossible)
Kafka would most likely follow the same path as well, personal theory that she was originally a Doctor of Chaos so she would've followed Nihility and joined Elio to prove life's meaning to IX
Silver Wolf follows the same path as Elio most likely, although Erudition could be a bigger possibility for her
Firefly/Sam: No clue, doesn't seem that she really followed Elio enthusiastically and just wanted to see if Elio was right. I'd say she was pathless but no clue

I think that while in lore a lot of the characters do follow different paths than the ones they have ingame, those paths can actually give a little more into their character.
easiest example being serval. she's from the landau family, so she supports the preservation, but she also shows very key characteristics of someone following the path of erudition. she wanted to find out everything about the stellaron to cure jarilo-VI of the eternal freeze, even getting fired because of it.
fu xuan wants to preserve the luofu as long as she can with divining the future, himeko wants to know all about the galaxy, argenti wants to know all about idrilla, huohuo doesn't want anyone to be hurt, even qingque puts a stunning amount of effort to avoid work.
TLDR; while the paths may not exactly match what the characters might believe in/walk the paths of, it's still interesting to see their personality be gleamed from those paths
that's a really great way to put it ! there are still some characters i can't make sense of though, like Clara for example. her planet worships the preservation, and svarog also has strong ideals of preservation. when it comes to her, she clearly tends to align with the harmony. no matter how i look at it, i can't make sense of the fact she was made to be a destruction pathstrider 🤔

Character's paths are an overhaul of their ability and personality. If you observe closly, their path is set with precision aligned with the characteristics. Their "group" however is different from paths because of cultural or geographic difference.

It's really interesting how individuals in HSR can follow a certain set of ideals (the Paths) while the manner in which they execute this can diverge wildly. For example, Sampo is a Masked Fool but his battle style is Nihility. By itself it's interesting characterization - are his methods more in line with the "fuck everything" faction of Nihility or the "life is worth living" faction, as it were. Really interesting to think about how Paths intertwine and diverge and may send characters off of one Path to another.

4:25 i reckon qingque is actually a follower of erudition in lore also. if u read her story, shes like. insanely smart. and in chinese, every sentence she says is said in poems and limericks and stuff. like the whole point of her character is a burnt out or a "lazy genius". the cn community speculates shes gonna be the next master diviner, or might even have tie ins with the genius society
Playable paths are more of utility than lore, but this clears it all I was confused about some characters like Asta, Blade, silverwolf and kafka.
just saying that paths can be overlaped, most characters arent bound to one path, unless they are emanators, in which fu xuan case is somewhat weird, she follows nous but still allies with the hunt, it could just be that since she is not WORSHIPPING LAN, but instead ALLYING WITH, is ok. the same goes to other characters like everyone in the wildfire, they dont WORSHIP QLIPOTH but still share the same feeling of PRESERVING their lifes.
I cant recall right now where i heard this but chars personal path is based on their personality and not the road they follows
For Argenti, its important to remember that even if the Eon dies, it's path won't cease to exist, meaning that with his passion he still follows the path of beauty, even if it doesn't have an owner
Welt is template stacking, being both a Herrscher of Reason and a Trailblaze Pathstrider at the same time. Welt honestly doesn't gain much from his Path except for the increased enviromental resistance (Herrscher are already fully space capable and don't need to breathe) and the extra source of imaginary energy.
Seele is also a weird case in that while she may not actually be a Pathstrider at all (she had zero idea what Trailblazer was talking regarding Paths), she still has her Seele-mandatory quantum powers indenpendant of it (all Seele except some of the bubble world ones have quantum powers in some form, be it GGZ Seele, HI3 Seele, or HSR Seele, though the specifics vary for each Seele).
And then there's Trailblazer, who is a very strange case of going Multi-Path. Trailblaze through being an Astral Express member, Destruction trough Nanook's gaze, and Preservation through the whole thing in Belobog (which also involved Qliphot's gaze). The crew was even weirded out and asking WTF was the whole thing about right after the fight with Cocolia.
Phantylia is also a very strange Multi-Path case, at least on the Laofu, since she had both Destruction and Abundance powers while possessing the tree. Destruction for obvious reasons (Emanator) and Abundance through the tree.
Curiously, both Multi-Path cases (Trailblazer and Phantylia) involved the Destruction Path and a Stellaron.
Fu Xuan also receives power from Nous, as Xianzhou's computing technology was bestowed to them by Nous.
She managed to get Nous' attention and blessing.

My understanding of the paths is that it is more connected to their heart than their respective factions. Though that explanation is also not that perfect since there are characters like clara who fits harmony more (peesonality), ruan mei who fits erudition more (interest), qingque who fits nihility more (personality & interest), and inhibitor lunae and maybe misha because it is not like Dan Heng changed his philosophy during transformation; as for misha, I won't judge his character just yet after my experience in penacony.

My theory is that each Pathstrider has one Primary Path, but they can have multiple secondary paths - the natural forms of Blessings.
Imo, you kinda strayed on the definition of a path here. Path is the philosophy one follows, not a religion they are a part of. This means that even if a character worships x aeon, it wouldn’t mean that they are the member of said aeon’s path; their religion and their path can differ. I can perfectly see how Serval can be of the erudition path (because she studies the stellaron) and worship the amber lord at the same time. It is also worth noting that all the playable characters are pathstriders, meaning they must have a path to follow; they cannot be pathless.

I believe that walking on a path is more linked to your personality and lifestyle rather than which faction you follow. And in that regard here are some of the changes i propose
Qingque is absolutely a nihility character
She constantly skips work and loves to play mahjong which is a form of leisure
Mahjong is a strategic game but according to her ult she just straight up uses her quantum powers to cheat?? So yeah shes definitely nihility
Clara is a harmony character. In game, svarog is mostly the one doing the destroying which is why svarog is the one who is of the destruction path. But clara seeks peace amongst everyone and thus is a harmony character
Luka is a hunt character. Luka is very passionate and strong willed. He has almost no traits of nihility other than being slightly chuunibyou but that is heavily overshadowed by his headstrongness

Usually there is actually reasoning to why characters follow a path even though they should really be another. The only characters that are garunteed to be on their path are on emenators like Herta, Acheron, and Boothill.
Important notice - you don't have to be a part of some faction to follow a path, so any individual can be a pathstrider with all the perks and power from the path without joining a cult.
If I'm not mistaken, you can be on a path without even knowing about Aeons and what not. So people like Seele could still be on the Path of Preservation just from sharing a world view, even if they don't follow Qlipoth.
the highcloud quintet is what got me thinking this way but i see what kind of unit a characters is more as a sort of character archetype in the loosest sense of the word with varying options of interpreting it. since jing yuan is an erudition unit who tend to be thinkers planners and manipulators even though his philosophy is that of the hunt. jingliu, blade and dan heng are all destruction units as the "fallen" ones of the quintet, jingliu and blade leaving physical destruction in their wake due to being mara struck. dan heng in his IL form which so closely resembles dan feng is a destruction unit as a representation that no matter how hard he tries he Cant actually escape from the sins of his past self because the people affected by what he did are still around (and it was pretty destructive)
contrast that with for example hook who is a destruction unit, but the interpretation for me there is more like she is mischievous and likes causing chaos. that is what i mean by there being various options for interpreting the paths of units but it being a hint towards or a tendency of their personalities. honestly tho it's not foolproof. the path i find hardest to interpret are preservation units. so you know. just fun thought experiments and an explanation as to why the path or the unit is not necessarily the one they follow in actuality
About Acheron, Aventurine claimed acheron as a emanator of another Aeon, that brings Death and Finality
Terminus is the only Aeon for now that represents Finality, maybe shes a emanator of Terminus?
Maybe I missed it, but I don’t remember Jing Yuan ever being mentioned as an Emanator. The wiki doesn’t list him either. The only known playable characters who are said to be Emanatos are Herta and most recently Acheron.
The things of this whole Path is the confusion of why the Path they have and the Path the follow somewhat different. This further approve the curio "Pistol Rating Gun" really actually rate the affinity of characters with their actual Path, like how Jingyuan, March, and Sampo got "error" result after the curio rate them because their in-game Path aren't actually the real Path the follow.
I don't know if it's possible or not, but the character can worship any Aeon, and the Aeon can gaze to any person they saw worth even if it's from another Aeon' faction
Most of the numbers of the pistol are puns or has a link with the character. Dan Heng has 88 because it’s linked with good luck, Jingliu has 0 because she’s literally frozen/dead and Huohuo/Tail is 5 and 0 because 5 is spelled alike “huo” in Chinese and Tail is technically not alive so 0 for example

@@mihyara0195 I have clues for March and Sampo: the first one is because she may be a fragment of Elysia (a character in HI3rd) and the second one is a Childe-like character who hides many secrets, so devs don’t want to foreshadow/spoil it with just easter eggs like that (a 5* Sampo has been teased, maybe the gun will be update after that?). Luocha has also an error result and he’s also a character without many informations btw
Edit: yanqing has 99. Maybe that’s a way to say that’s he has almost perfected his art, or that he’s always one step behind everyone…

For Sampo, after Penacony, we can actually sure that he is a Fools since he has a mask but hid it in the Tavern. When Sparkle come out, if she shows an error, then we are in the right path, if she somehow shows a number, then we're back to square one 😂
I was thinking about this the other days, and what came to mind was that one thing is the Path you Choose to Follow by Ideology because You Want that. But the Playable Path is who you really are as a Person?
So when you yourself deeply resonate with the Eons Ideology you actively follow and understand their trye meaning, is when they gaze upon you, that's why Herta in an Emanator shown by her Playable Path being the same as her Lore path.
(That would be Debunked if we are ever Officially confirmed that Jin Yuan is a Hunt Emanator since he is a Playable Erudition, but we haven't had a confirmation yet)
That's what I think, now on the characters that are the same Path in Lore and playability that are not Emanators, I think is about what I first said, you have to deeply and truly understand the path to be gazed upon. If you follow and act like the path you choose, I think it means the character has the potential to be an Emanator, but is lacking the deep understanding and may be how they are because that's what they were told and taught lacking that "purity" (to call it somehow)
But idk, I love HSR but I'm No Lore Expert 😂
The only sad thing is that I hate Elation not being playable, I somehow would love for Sampo to evolve as a 5* like Dan Heng as an Elation Emanator and share Playable Path with Ideal Path 😂

The 2 paths for QQ are either erudition (because of how Smart she clearly is, and all her scheming), or Nihilty (Which was teh path she was originally planned to have ingame). She doesn't really fit any other paths, and like Wildfire probably just doesn't worship an Aeon speciifically, and ends up walking several paths.

When you meet her, and for all the time before the Ebon Deer fight, that is real TY. Same with the Playable character. Phantlyia posed as TY for a vanishingly short amount of time.
I feel like you can make some loose reasons why a character is their combat path you can put together (March being preservation because she wants to preserve her new memories, Ratio is hunt because he wants to rid the world of idiocy, Ruan Mei because she wants to harmonize with life, ect)
Doesn’t Phantylia call Dan Heng a Scion of “permanence” or “preservation” in her Boss fight I don’t exatly remember . I think it’s really confusing because Dan Heng refer’s to himself and his power as “destruction”. And then his four star variation is considered the “hunt”. Aren’t the vidyadhara species and the people of that planet “blessed” by “abundance” as well? I think it’s more about the path you align with the most or that you believe is your path that translates into the actual in game playable characters path. Also what the hell is a “Scion”?

It's quite sad to know that Dr. Ratio couldn't and probably will never manage to obtain Nous' gaze even after all of his feats. What's more, Nous' gaze is actually one among, if not the only one, of his peak ambitions in his life. Lastly, the way he admires Herta, Screwy, and RM (the ones who received Nous' gaze) is such a bittersweet feeling. Then there goes RM and Herta, not giving an f of who's this "Dr. Ratio person" is.

Path in lore, esp with factions like the Xianzhou, can be understood in simlar way to real world faith and religions. There's the national religion and then one's personal faith which may match that of their nation or be different. The hunt for instance is the Xianzhou national religion and the basis for their culture but indivdually how devoted one follows the national path or whether they choose to follow another is a personal thing. So you have ppl like Baiheng who is a Nameless but serves the Hunt as a Cloud Knight and the Vidyadhara who assist the Hunt but still have high reverence for Long the Permanence.
Its also important to remember that one can become a pathstrider without explicitly following a specific path (makes me wonder if an indivdual could stride multiple path at once like Jing Yuan being an Enminator of the Hunt but also a pathstrider on The Erudition :p)
They can! Paths are less strict then a person willingly choosing to follow something, it's basically just life philosophy, and you can feel strongly about multiple of them, even without realizing it and admiring the aeon if it.

A pathstrider isn't just someone whose ideals align with a path but extraordinary folks with wills strong enough to draw power from the path. Is Jing Yuan being powered by both the path of the Hunt consciously as an emanator and the path of Erudition unconsciously? While the game does confirm people can follow/align with multiple path it doesn't confirm or deny yet if one can be a pathstrider on more then one hence my curiosity.
Personally, I do think its possible because as we, the player, are examples I think.

Slight correction about Welt. He isn't from a different universe since the EN localisation teams for HI3 and HSR call universe different things. The worlds/star systems/galaxies we go to in HSR are the same type of thing which the EN HI3 calls universes. What is considered a miltiverse in HI3 EN is called the universe in HSR EN.
These inconsistencies are lacking in the other languages.
