Some of the most _Genesis_ sounds to come out of the Genesis.
Goes so fast you almost forget this is a game about a dolphin literally confronting God itself, traveling through time, and creating a timeloop, all to rescue its family from aliens.
Inspired by the fascinating life of a ketamine addicted neuroscientist who spoke to dolphins and thought a holy entity cut his penis off. Glorious.

@sayingnigromakesyoutubecry2647 There's a myth that John C Lilly cut his penis off but he said in an interview it was just a ketamine delusion. The creator of Ecco confirmed that the game was heavily inspired by John C Lily, though. Even the name. (Ecco was the name of the alien organization that John thought cut his penis off.) He believed dolphins were the bridge between humans and aliens and worked closely with them learning to communicate so humans and ECCO could talk. Very similar to the premise of the game.

The hardest game I ever beat casually! Best 16 bit soundtrack ever imo. And a great run, congrats!

The fact you reach the final autoscrolling stages in just over 9 minutes (around half of the total time) shows how insane the skips and glitches used throughout the run are.
Yeah I never tried the non camera freeze category but they zoom through that super fast too

I love that speedrunning the bit-era games hasn't lost focus, and everyone still tries to push the limits. These games are worth keeping alive.
I had this game on Sega as a kid. Didn't understand a fucking thing about it then. Still don't to this day.
Alien race sucks up the marine life every 1000 years because they've got no other food elsewhere. Ecco avoids being captured and goes back in time to heal the Asterite, the oldest known being in the ocean.
The Asterite gives Ecco it's power to breathe under water and to kill the aliens. Ecco goes back to the start of the game where every one got captured and gets captured on purpose to find the queen and kill it.

That was an incredible run. I didnt think halfbaked time was even beatable. I could never figure out how to perform the camera glitch so i used to do no camera glitch runs.
Amazing that someone beat halfbakedprophet after all this time. However, one thing remains true since the release of this game: the machine is always nightmare fuel, and you felt it on this run fr! Great run. Bet you're glad the 'net came back up by the end :)
Putting an ad break right when it looks like Ecco is going to be crushed in The Machine is diabolical, lol.

The tube is just so brutal and I have no idea how what you did even worked
staying in the middle dodges the barriers, after it speeds up you can go in the top left to ignore electricity+ignore all spawns

Was hoping for an actual speedrun, not a 'glitch through the walls and cheese run'. Impressive, but not THAT impressive.

It's 2024 you can literally search for that kind of run without insulting someone
I think you really underestimate how hard it is to pull off these glitches, it’s an achievement in itself.
