All I'm seeing the the manual release of a long aluminium box section after tethering. There is a clear change in flow after release but surely the box-sections are not all that is holding the water back? It there a gating system under those box-sections?
This is the approximate location of the weir: www.google.com/maps/place/Sacramento+Weir/@38.5998851,-121.5638734,14.66z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x809ad5cb24200a0b:0x38a484d820dbd3cb!8m2!3d38.6049049!4d-121.5566237
There are rice fields which farmers flood themselves. However in times where the Sacramento River is too high and almost to flood stage they will open up the side of the river and flood agriculture fields, which is what you are seeing here
No John, obviously you don't live in California...............Next week Moonbeam will announce there is too much water, so he has to raise taxes to hire more union employees to manage it all, plus a "temporary" sales tax increase to study the effects of California having too much water !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe a small sur tax for more water storage facilities which can double as homeless shelters when the water dries up. Anyone who lives here knows this routine LOL.
amazing footage!
Outstanding footage. Thank you.
can you imagine if they harnessed that power, I'm sure it was incredible.

Ah I wish this could happen again
Well your wish is about to come true
so happens to all the fish? do they just get stranded and died out there when it dries up?
Good for the water table to have that water spread out where it can percolate into the ground.
Is this what floods the fields on 80 West of the city?

Don't forget people who collect water off their roof and store it...Tax!
Pete is that the Sac or the American River?
Sacramento river
What happen to all the water?
It is flooding agriculture fields.
Did the officials even declare the flooded areas disaster areas?
Hi there. You can read more the emergency proclamation from the recent storms here: www.gov.ca.gov/news.php?id=19668.
Cal OES Thanks, I did look and Wow! 49 counties! I wasn't catching what the OES stood for! Got it now! :)
Does this mean that the California drought is over? A lot squawking done not so long ago about water shortages so
a halt on federal funds now?
Following the water "bankruptcy" perhaps this vital resource will be used more sparingly.
Unbelievable! They have to open it by hand and climbing on and off 🤣
Sacramento River Leo Talbet

Must be nice for you to live somewhere where it rains often and never be able to even comprehend a drought.
