this was amazing and I don't really care whether they copied that dance crew because I love the show I watched it at like every competition, it was fantastic. it was my favorite show the whole season :)
i remember the two years our school did guard the first year we had 5 the last year we had i think 5 girls and 5 guys on it ..this year if we had one there would be alot more im sure cause our guard is huge..but no one is interested ..i think a requirement for color guard is you have to be in winterguard as well.. i wanna do at least color guard but it just so expensive at our school..
this reminds me a lot of that show out of Tate a few years ago. they did all Amelie music. they also placed top 10 if i remember correctly. this show is done well but not all that original really.
This guard didn't steal anything, they had an idea SIMILAR to some elses Marionette whatever and Mt. Carmel did their views on Marionettes, thats all. Nothing was stolen, and i'm not even sure why this is still be talked about like 2 years later, good job Mt. Carmel, the show was amazing and you guys are one of the first Scholastic A teams i know of to get a Standing Ovation @ wgi.
Yo, Dynamite, I said no such thing as "truly original." Truly original: compose new music, invent new equipment, design a new format for performance, etc....we all borrow. Costumes, formation changes, color schemes, etc. We cannot help but be affected by what has gone before us. STEAL implies violation. I guess, by your standards, no one can paint a sunflower again, right Van Gogh? Improvement is progress, not theft and I am writing from my laptop as opposed to my Commodore 64...
all i can say for people who are comparing this to whatever this expressoin crew is.. is that the whole puppet idea for a color guard show was done back in 1997 (i think) by everybody color guard...strings and all.. and who ever is saying the group should be ashamed of ripping something off.. i think you are wrong. if u should be mad at anyone.. it's the staff of the color guard.. not the students performing.. they probably have no idea.....
yeahh so i check out how people are either "dont effin bite off expressions crew" or "you dont know a thing about what Mt. Carmel has done to ear this"
wow they used the same marionette theme as expression crew also the bite expression crew's entire remixed sound track of yann tiersen shoot they had better gave credit to the artist and expression crew for mixing the soundtrack
Ok people, it wasn't stolen, is expression crew using sabres, rifles and flags? No, they came up with all the work on there own, they used the idea from them but everything they did out there was from there own talent, it's a just a theme.
it's funny how u don't get the whole point. the point is this school competed in many competitions with this routine and they got awards for it when it wasn't even THEIR creation. this is straight up plagirism. I posted this on a korean bboy website and thies school is being hated on pretty badly. Now i'm gonna go post it on Expressions Website and see what they have to say about this.
The "whole" routine was not taken. Just the first minute or so. It's not like Expressions copyrighted their moves. If they did, they would look like an a** like that one guy who copyrighted the Electric Slide. Did this guard not evolve the concept? Did you even watch the middle section? There was dance with actual strings, ropes, and other moves that were clearly not from Expressions.
you people who are complaining about this entire show being stolen from this expression crew.. u know if this is the music they use.. and they have the copywrites. this school does have to get the rights to it.... so.. maybe u should check that out too before u go and slander some kids who have no idea..
I am sure that, if honest, the Expressions people would admit that they got the idea from someplace else... There is NO SUCH THING as a truly original idea. And, the saying goes, "imitation is the most sincere form of flattery." These must be very young and/or not yet matured people,as anyone who has been in this business for any time would get that the copyright permissions are given by the composer/publisher/owner of the music, and these people grant permission to numerous groups.
You guys should have won in Dayton, you guys were way better than Colonial HS! And I should know, I'm in the same Circuit at Colonial and that was not their best performance nor did it top your guys! Anyways though, hope you guys have a great performance year this year too!
there is a CLEAR difference between being inspired by a work and copying a work. These people used many of the same routines. They didn't just use a similar idea. I don't know if they did but if they did not credit Expression then whatever awards they received should be returned. the Marionette was NOT from Amelie. the music did appear in the movie but the show did not. Expression crew won International events and is know for their creativity. these color guards are shit load of jokes.
so all you want to say it is this. here they got rifles, sabres and flags and Expression doesn't so these people didn't copy right? the fact doesn't change. they ripped off thd show and they competed in official events. it's a crime.
scechal... of course, if you think that there is no originality, then it's clear that you defend this group but without the ideas of a few certain people, people like you or this group could never steal these ideas think about it
if Expression had stolen your idea, i would have been really disappointed and also written such comments to them BUT you stole Expressions idea, and not only the idea, but also big parts of the choreography i think guard is cool, you guard girls and boys have my respect, but not my respect for stealing, i also dont have respect for b-girls and b-boys that steal if you "transform" it in this way, you HAVE TO CREDIT EXPRESSIONS BEFORE EVERY PERFORMANCE AT LEAST then nobody would be so mad
i ESPECIALLY hate how they spun weapons & had flag work exactly like the choreography that group had in the marionette show. whats wrong with capitalizing off a good idea? plus, they are not selling it as their own idea :] it was all my idea. i was the 1st person to listen to the amelie soundtrack & thought puppets. therefore, everyone else is a biter.
it's sad when people who get paid to come up with these shows run out of ideas and COMPLETELY steal another groups show. Where's the ORIGINALITY? This is a joke.
the main point of this routine was stolen from expression crew. competing with someone elses idea is very wrong and disrespectful. watch that crappy movie 'bring it on' and then the expression crew marionette show, lol. shame on the choreagrapher...tsk tsk
@bobjr90958 Actually you CAN use real rifles doing stunts like that. It's called JROTC... and they do tricks a lot harder than the ones you see in flag corps/color guard. Check it out some time.
@zyxwME753 Oh ha, so I totally found my comment... I still stand by what I said. The tricks we do in ROTC were a HELL of a lot harder than what they do in in flag corps/color guard. That being said, I have a lot of respect for those girls that do the flag corps and color guards. I was on Flag Corps too in high school, I know how hard a lot of that shit is, trust me. I think my point was ppl were saying you can't do that with a real rifle and you can.
@zyxwME753 I dont know where MY comment went on here that you're replying to... nor do I remember what it said, but I was on exibition (sp) drill team and we def were throwing quads with the rifles. We had a lot of other kids throwing more than that. It actually takes little effort to throw a single. Trust me, been there done that, all four years. Just an FYI
That show was FANTASTIC! just lovely... well done
Fantastic Show! Definitely made going to SA finals worth it!
this was amazing and I don't really care whether they copied that dance crew because I love the show
I watched it at like every competition, it was fantastic. it was my favorite show the whole season :)
you guys got this from the expression crew! haha good job i loved you're show
One of my favorite winterguard shows of all time to see
simply amazing! they did what bluecoats in 05 did to their poles. but very very good!!!
Oh wow, I danced to this music a couple of years ago for a summer program. Can anyone tell me what music this is? I've been looking all over for it.
i remember the two years our school did guard the first year we had 5 the last year we had i think 5 girls and 5 guys on it ..this year if we had one there would be alot more im sure cause our guard is huge..but no one is interested ..i think a requirement for color guard is you have to be in winterguard as well.. i wanna do at least color guard but it just so expensive at our school..
this reminds me a lot of that show out of Tate a few years ago. they did all Amelie music. they also placed top 10 if i remember correctly. this show is done well but not all that original really.
Loved this show at world championships!!
GENIUS!!!
did this team win the championship? because that was outstanding!
that was amazing
thats so cool how at the end they have the string on their flags. its so trippy! haha
Love it!!
This guard didn't steal anything, they had an idea SIMILAR to some elses Marionette whatever and Mt. Carmel did their views on Marionettes, thats all. Nothing was stolen, and i'm not even sure why this is still be talked about like 2 years later, good job Mt. So I totally love the puppet show.... I know its weird but so good..
Awesome job ladys.... Kept up the great work! ^_^
WOW! This was amazing!=D
Fawking amazing
put a video of this year up
Cool show!!!
Has anyone realized this song is "La Noyee - Yann Tiersen"
I mean seriously, stop trying to say someone stole something.
Sorry if this was answered before but can someone explain how they did the last move, immediately after the final ensemble toss?
@dance2advance
Funny, I didn't see Rifles, Flags and sabres in Xcrew
WOW one of the best show i've seen so far. very entertaining!
very well done! This guard is very very good. The puppet movement was right on part. I am amazed at how well these high schoolers got into character!
This is the most beautiful, original performance I've ever seen. Very well done.
Maybe I was looking at it wrong....but did the first guy that ran out....trip?
FIERCE!
btw this isnt el toro high school cuz i used to go to el toro and i promise u thats not our gym haha good show tho
La Valse D'Ameilie [Orchestral Version]
I love the Blue Lame ^.^
That was really amazing!
oh my god, that was really good. you guys keep up the fantastic work!
I loved it! I was captivated by it!
This was my high schools exact marching show years ago... wow. Same music and everything!
Awesome show! I was on Mt. Carmel's Winterguard back in '96 -'97. We had a really good team then, I"m glad to see the program is still strong!
it's a mixture of songs from the amelie soundtrack
I LOVED this so much. I wish we could have done something like this it was very creative ahh and the music was great.
love the finale..!! great job..!!
That is not at El toro high school.
That was amazing! Apparently 15 people don't know talent.
i love this show.
....that was AMAZING!! I LOVED the flag feature and the concept was awesome! :D
what songs are these?
Yo, Dynamite,
I said no such thing as "truly original." Truly original: compose new music, invent new equipment, design a new format for performance, etc....we all borrow. LOL.. if this isn't a copy of expressions show, i don't know what it is. Atleast give Expression some credit!
yeahh so i check out how people are either "dont effin bite off expressions crew"
or "you dont know a thing about what Mt. Carmel has done to ear this"
that was really clean.
AHHH it looks so cool..
What Circuit are you guys in?
wow they used the same marionette theme as expression crew also the bite expression crew's entire remixed sound track of yann tiersen shoot they had better gave credit to the artist and expression crew for mixing the soundtrack
Good routine, but a lot of their moves were ripped off of Expressions Crew Marionette Routine. Search it before claiming it was all original.
@ezabellaboem Thank you so much! You're amazing! :]
Ok people, it wasn't stolen, is expression crew using sabres, rifles and flags? No, they came up with all the work on there own, they used the idea from them but everything they did out there was from there own talent, it's a just a theme.
OMG I LOVE IT! It is different and pure genius, what is the song? I am in Colorguard and I want to be a Guard Instructor in the future.
it's funny how u don't get the whole point. the point is this school competed in many competitions with this routine and they got awards for it when it wasn't even THEIR creation. this is straight up plagirism. I posted this on a korean bboy website and thies school is being hated on pretty badly. Now i'm gonna go post it on Expressions Website and see what they have to say about this.
it was in amelie
@jonasbrothersmate12 or they know that this isn't their original idea and routine
@ccloyes Sch.A
silver medalist at WGI
that routine was amazing. that was some of the best timing i've ever seen too. how did they place?
They took some ideas off this one show...
I know. lol I watched that video years ago. I was just saying it in a sarcastic way.
Guard directors always ind the most obscure music
you people who are complaining about this entire show being stolen from this expression crew.. u know if this is the music they use.. and they have the copywrites. this school does have to get the rights to it.... so.. maybe u should check that out too before u go and slander some kids who have no idea..
Beautiful. I love the whole marionette idea.
I also like how nearly every song from the Amelie soundtrack was used. xD I'm a big Yann Tiersen fan.
Totally Fantastic. The blue flag sweeps were perfect and so beautiful.
You guys should have won in Dayton, you guys were way better than Colonial HS! And I should know, I'm in the same Circuit at Colonial and that was not their best performance nor did it top your guys! Anyways though, hope you guys have a great performance year this year too!

oh so its for kids and once you grow up u get to use a real one. ur right we wouldn't want kids playing with guns.
you play with fake rifles??? how are supposed to guard any thing with a fake rifle? oh this must be for like 10 year olds or some thing right?
so all you want to say it is this. here they got rifles, sabres and flags and Expression doesn't so these people didn't copy right? the fact doesn't change. they ripped off thd show and they competed in official events. it's a crime.
their show was very creative
scechal...
of course, if you think that there is no originality, then it's clear that you defend this group
but without the ideas of a few certain people, people like you or this group could never steal these ideas
think about it
Fuuuu, thats beast:D im not in guard but i admire them^^ they look so graceful! The blue flag part was...mesmerising! So pretty^^
wow really nobody here knows that is stolen from expression crew...
if Expression had stolen your idea, i would have been really disappointed and also written such comments to them
BUT you stole Expressions idea, and not only the idea, but also big parts of the choreography
i think guard is cool, you guard girls and boys have my respect, but not my respect for stealing, i also dont have respect for b-girls and b-boys that steal
if you "transform" it in this way, you HAVE TO CREDIT EXPRESSIONS BEFORE EVERY PERFORMANCE AT LEAST
then nobody would be so mad
i wonder how many more of this bitting s...t were going to see.
shame on you for copying the whole concept and using it in competition. complete lack of originality or respect
oops, didnt see the names below:D
don't use the word biters. they don't even know what that means. not everyone's a bboy. just tell them to DON'T FUCKING STEAL AND NOT GIVE CREDIT.
Nice routine, not original though. The used Expression Crew's Marionette Routine.
At least they changed it up to include Color Guard Routines.
i ESPECIALLY hate how they spun weapons & had flag work exactly like the choreography that group had in the marionette show.
whats wrong with capitalizing off a good idea? plus, they are not selling it as their own idea :]
it was all my idea. i was the 1st person to listen to the amelie soundtrack & thought puppets. therefore, everyone else is a biter.
THIS IS SO COOL
aaammmaaaziiinnnnnggg
I can't explain it but something about this I do not like at all. The music and dancing dont go well together at all...
it's sad when people who get paid to come up with these shows run out of ideas and COMPLETELY steal another groups show. Where's the ORIGINALITY?
This is a joke.
/watch?v=hODEnpVZevc
Was this their inspiration?
the main point of this routine was stolen from expression crew. competing with someone elses idea is very wrong and disrespectful. watch that crappy movie 'bring it on' and then the expression crew marionette show, lol. shame on the choreagrapher...tsk tsk
@bobjr90958 Actually you CAN use real rifles doing stunts like that. It's called JROTC... and they do tricks a lot harder than the ones you see in flag corps/color guard. Check it out some time.
Biters -_-

you are really poor!
invent your own stuff and DONT STEAL!!!
bahahahaha
copycats.....
