Thank you for enlightening us who didn't know the reason behind the head shaving! You must be proud to be in such a beautiful religion & have so much culture in your family through generations!❤

As muslims we are supposed to shave the babies hair and name them ideally on day 7. The hair is then weighed and the equivalent amount of money is given to charity on behalf of the baby and parents. Also if you have a boy you have to slaughter 2 small animals of choice and for a girl 1 animal and give a share of that meat to the poor/needy and less fortunate. I think its a way of thanking Allah for His mercies. Im no scholar but this is how i understand it. Hope this helps

@@sotty1363 its not weird. Even in society now having a male child is preferred. And this was the case in Arabia. So when the Prophet came and introduced Islam. To stop people burying their daughters alive, the sunnah was introduced where of you had a daughter you gave 1 animal, so girls would be seen less as a burden. And for a boy u had to give 2, to show you that females are not more of a burden. I hope that makes sense. Feel free to ask more questions.

@@shaistabano8040 It isn't because of that, it's most likely because if a girl gets married she'll share half of her husband's wealth and etc whereas the male has to work on his own. A male doesn't have anyone to depend on where as a girl has their fathers to depend on which is why we're given less compared to our brothers.

Don’t you think you should’ve waited a little longer? The baby could get razor burn & the hair protects the newborns scalp from infections. The hair also keeps the baby warmer & protects their body from the cold, retaining heat. Should’ve waited atleast until the baby was a little older.
