I was living in a studio apartment, as i was getting ready for work some census worker knocked on my door (someone must have let her into the building cause i sure as hell wouldn't) , i told her i was busy getting ready for work but she wouldn't stop, we actually started yelling back and forth at each other through my door while i'm getting ready! Now what this poor census worker didn't know was that i'm a big girl with RBF so i can look pretty intimidating, especially when i'm pissed off, so after she made some comment about me doing the census would help kids or something to that effect , i whipped opened the door, got right in her face and said "do i look like someone who gives a s**t?", i scared that poor woman to death but it was worth it as i never was bothered by a census worker again.
Heres what you do... ask to speak to their supervisor. Its just like telemarketing. Once you ask for a supervisor, ask to be put on their do not call list. Hopefully that'll fix it.

I was told it was a small questions booklet. It was a huge book. Like phonecatalog huge. They called me for weeks asking for it and wouldn't let it go. And the called me so many times wanting another to ask me more questions. I now have unlisted number. There is no other way of escaping them.

The census harassed the Ever loving shit out of me. Truly harassed, every single day for months. Turned out it was someone who did work for the census but was running a scam. So I’m glad I ignored it.

We went through almost the same thing I felt bad blah blah blah my hubby was pissed and said don’t talk to them and it was horrible they would show up at my house and finally on the weekend they showed up at my house again and hubby was real mad that’s his time and he literally stripped down to his underwear and opened the door smiled at the women and invited her to meet him out back in the garage and we never heard from them again now let me say at that point the women had been very rude to me and when I told her I was done that I’m terminally ill and I’m in and out of the hospital she wanted to know what hospital and would come there! My husband was PISSED so that’s why he did what he did lol lol
This mall story reminds me of an old Animanizcs episode where there were the survey ladies while the Warners were getting a gift for their doctor and the survey ladies followed them all over the mall asking, "Do you want to take a survey?" One of them tried to do it and he became confused until they gave the survey ladies as a gift to the doctor and do the same thing with him by running after the doctor asking the questions.

Ask them to put you on their do not call list-legally in my state at least if you say that word for word they have to not call you again. I worked for a call center- but you have to say put you on the *”do not call list”.* And tell them if anyone shows up at your house again without permission you will have to take LEGAL ACTION. That’ll scare them away trust me. These people have bosses to report to and no one wants to be sued for harassment etc. *but you have to stand your ground and say you no longer would like to participate in the census-if you don’t it gives them reason to continue contacting you* edit: you can’t say “take me off your list”. There are ways they can get around that legally, but every place like this has a list dedicated to phone numbers and people to not contact anymore calls the “Do Not Call” list. Request to be put on it.
My dad used to do the census. Because he knew so many people he pretty much knew them all. I don’t think anyone ever said no to him as he was just so likeable. He could also talk for hours about nothing 😂 I really miss my dad. I never opened a door to them when I lived in America and I doubt my mother does cause ain’t nobody got time for that. 💙💙💙💙
I can't believe what your going through with this peter! I dealt with one one time. And he came as I was (then) putting my baby down. New baby. First baby so much stress. I was putting my toddler down for a nap one day, he was almost asleep, and the Jehovas Witness knocked on the effing door. Didn’t answer, so I figured they’d leave, and my kid was still falling asleep. Then they knock a second time, louder, then a third, even louder, and I lost it. My kid was screaming n crying (no nap for him that day) and I stormed outside and said a few choice words. They haven’t been back since, hahaha
I've never dealt with them coming to my house, but we got mailed some survey by them. It claimed on the survey that we had to fill it out by law. I was like what the world??? Then because I forgot I started getting all these phone calls from them telling me I had to fill it out. I finally did and havent heard from them since. What a nightmare. I never even knew there were census things like what you describe. I remember just being annoyed when they only came around to count the people living in my home. That was bothersome and barely took anytime at all.

I've dealt with it & my mom was always so nice to them but she couldn't stand it when they'd show up or call but she'd never say anything. Then I answered the door & told them to leave us alone, not to call, text, show up or give our number/address to anyone else because we wouldn't be doing anything for them anymore & at that point, they were just being annoying & trespassing. Then as an adult, they started to show up & I got real rude again & they never bothered me again. Seriously, there is NO way to be nice to them. If you push them off, they don't stop. Be mean! I have dealt with this. You block their phone number when they text and if they show up to your house you tell them if they go on your property you are going to call the police. They go away right away.
Did you put the name on their ID to make sure they are real US Census Bureau workers? They can be pushy put if you say in writing not to show up and they show up most won't because they don't want to deal with the police being called by you or a neighbor.
I did the Census Bureau too. Meh. If the Nielsen people ever knock on your door, jump at letting them in. They will pay you for allowing them to hook up your TV!! And they paid for having my TV fixed!!! But Census Bureau meh. But we became friends with our Census lady. 💚
Honestly if they are sitting in front of your house again for awhile call the cops and say that there is a suspicious vehicle in front of your house for some hours - maybe that’ll teach them

Here's something that I found to be a bit interesting, from actually doing a little research into whether or not you are required to do actually do the census if you are chosen - Americans have to apparently answer the U.S. Census Bureau survey by law, but ironically the agency hasn't prosecuted since 1970. Apparently under Title 13 of the U.S. Code, you can be fined up to $100 for refusing to complete a census form and $500 for answering questions falsely. The Census Bureau is not a prosecuting agency.

If you want to still interact with these folks because you want to be nice, then tell the supervisor it's on YOUR terms of how & when you WANT to be contacted. NOT by theirs. Schedule it at like 3am. If they call back keep scheduling it at really later hours, or ask them to go to really bizarre places to do the census there.
I've never been harassed like that, but if I was, and they lied about the time it took, I would be sending them to other addresses, like, "Meet me at this [scary forest] entry at 7pm." And then never show, and keep doing it. I feel sorry for the people doing it too, but they need to be honest about the time it takes and not doing things like peek in your windows or contact you when you've asked them not to. That's all kinds of wrong.

We went through almost the same thing I felt bad blah blah blah my hubby was pissed and said don’t talk to them and it was horrible they would show up at my house and finally on the weekend they showed up at my house again and hubby was real mad that’s his time and he literally stripped down to his underwear and opened the door smiled at the women and invited her to meet him out back in the garage and we never heard from them again now let me say at that point the women had been very rude to me and when I told her I was done that I’m terminally ill and I’m in and out of the hospital she wanted to know what hospital and would come there! My husband was PISSED so that’s why he did what he did lol lol

This mall story reminds me of an old Animanizcs episode where there were the survey ladies while the Warners were getting a gift for their doctor and the survey ladies followed them all over the mall asking, "Do you want to take a survey?" One of them tried to do it and he became confused until they gave the survey ladies as a gift to the doctor and do the same thing with him by running after the doctor asking the questions.
Tell them to leave your house and not come back. I would also block their numbers. If you tell them to leave they have to.

Honestly, and I hate to say it because being mean is not my go-to, but you just need to be more rude. Tell them you already did it once, you have no intentions to do it again, and eff off. Tell them their insistence has been causing you extra stress and they need to remove you from their list as you have no intentions of ever doing it again. Hope this works

Ask them to put you on their do not call list-legally in my state at least if you say that word for word they have to not call you again. I worked for a call center- but you have to say put you on the *”do not call list”.* And tell them if anyone shows up at your house again without permission you will have to take LEGAL ACTION. That’ll scare them away trust me. These people have bosses to report to and no one wants to be sued for harassment etc. *but you have to stand your ground and say you no longer would like to participate in the census-if you don’t it gives them reason to continue contacting you* edit: you can’t say “take me off your list”. There are ways they can get around that legally, but every place like this has a list dedicated to phone numbers and people to not contact anymore calls the “Do Not Call” list. Request to be put on it.
My dad used to do the census. Because he knew so many people he pretty much knew them all. I don’t think anyone ever said no to him as he was just so likeable. He could also talk for hours about nothing 😂 I really miss my dad. I never opened a door to them when I lived in America and I doubt my mother does cause ain’t nobody got time for that. 💙💙💙💙
I can't believe what your going through with this peter! I dealt with one one time. And he came as I was (then) putting my baby down. New baby. First baby so much stress. Rachel 84 ugh, that’s so frustrating!! I’ve had Jehovas Witnesses come by a few times, and since I’ve always been nice, they keep coming. I was putting my toddler down for a nap one day, he was almost asleep, and the Jehovas Witness knocked on the effing door. Didn’t answer, so I figured they’d leave, and my kid was still falling asleep. Then they knock a second time, louder, then a third, even louder, and I lost it. My kid was screaming n crying (no nap for him that day) and I stormed outside and said a few choice words. They haven’t been back since, hahaha
At the end when they ask of you want to report a crime report them for faulty business procedures or something like that 💙💙💙💙💙

I've never dealt with them coming to my house, but we got mailed some survey by them. It claimed on the survey that we had to fill it out by law. I was like what the world??? Then because I forgot I started getting all these phone calls from them telling me I had to fill it out. I finally did and havent heard from them since. I really hope they don't start this crap with me on a regular basis. You got me scared Peter!!! Lol. 💙💙💙
What a nightmare. I never even knew there were census things like what you describe. I remember just being annoyed when they only came around to count the people living in my home. That was bothersome and barely took anytime at all.

Peter I literally had to call the cops on a lady from the CB who walked right through my front door. I kept dodging them for days and she had the nerve to bang loudly on my door to the point where it scared my daughter. Next NIGHT the woman tries my door knob and walks right in! I would seriously block their numbers & if they try a new number then be rude. There's no nice way to deal with them. I've dealt with it & my mom was always so nice to them but she couldn't stand it when they'd show up or call but she'd never say anything. Then I answered the door & told them to leave us alone, not to call, text, show up or give our number/address to anyone else because we wouldn't be doing anything for them anymore & at that point, they were just being annoying & trespassing. Then as an adult, they started to show up & I got real rude again & they never bothered me again. Seriously, there is NO way to be nice to them. If you push them off, they don't stop. Be mean! They'll get the point
Yup been there done that. I had to tell them I was putting them on the no call list so they best not call me again. I went to the website and put their information in as a no call list and I have never been bothered since. I think I actually spoke to someone there and they made it so no type of census could call me. It’s been years so I don’t remember. I have dealt with this. You block their phone number when they text and if they show up to your house you tell them if they go on your property you are going to call the police. They go away right away.
Did you put the name on their ID to make sure they are real US Census Bureau workers? They can be pushy put if you say in writing not to show up and they show up most won't because they don't want to deal with the police being called by you or a neighbor.

Here's something that I found to be a bit interesting, from actually doing a little research into whether or not you are required to do actually do the census if you are chosen - Americans have to apparently answer the U.S. Census Bureau survey by law, but ironically the agency hasn't prosecuted since 1970. Apparently under Title 13 of the U.S. Code, you can be fined up to $100 for refusing to complete a census form and $500 for answering questions falsely. The Census Bureau is not a prosecuting agency.

Census people seem relentless with you. Wow!! Showing up at your house or even waiting for you is creeeeepy!! ((if not illegal)) I would definitely call the supervisor in on this and say(politely, but firmly) to them to STOP sending people to your home unannounced (perhaps the supervisor is unaware how aggressive his employees are being, maybe, but if this is part of there training, no-no not cool) & to STOP texting you and tell them that you WANT to be placed on DO NOT CALL list and you DO NOT want ANY further interaction with them and if there is, you will have NO CHOICE to contact someone and legal action will be taken. If you want to still interact with these folks because you want to be nice, then tell the supervisor it's on YOUR terms of how & when you WANT to be contacted. NOT by theirs. If the supervisor gives a blah-blah story, then tell them that you DO NOT want to be bothered or contacted.

Block the numbers, post no trespassing/soliciting signs on your property and if they come to your windows/doors again call the cops. Also, call privately, ask to speak to a supervisor and go in on them.

Schedule it at like 3am. If they call back keep scheduling it at really later hours, or ask them to go to really bizarre places to do the census there.
I've never been harassed like that, but if I was, and they lied about the time it took, I would be sending them to other addresses, like, "Meet me at this [scary forest] entry at 7pm." And then never show, and keep doing it. I feel sorry for the people doing it too, but they need to be honest about the time it takes and not doing things like peek in your windows or contact you when you've asked them not to. That's all kinds of wrong.

I have never had a drivers license. I have been getting phone calls from Dodge about a recall on a part for my 2010 Charger since 2011. I explain that I don’t and have never driven, have no license and so don’t own a car they say. Ok and call me again next month.
