  • This originally was developed by Charlie Cypert for fishing South Texas white bass runs. It can also be used well with sunfish, bass and crappie. You can add some lead to get it down faster, or even some heavier dumbbell eyes if you choose. However traditionally it is tied with bead chain eyes. Its a very simple pattern that can be tied in a number of different color combos and you can fill a box quickly. I would call this a guide style fly, that allows someone to make many flies in a short amount of time with low cost materials. You can tie these in a number of different sizes as well.
    As you all know, I work closely withwww.risenfly.com and they have offered every one of my subscribers a discount. So go to their shop, and type in "McFly" at checkout for 15% off of anything you buy on their site.

    Been tying this fly for decades with a few variations. I use plastic bead chain for the eyes,slower descent. The hook is nickeled for the shine . First part of the body is Fluor red floss then the body is finished with pearlescent white,over wrap is pearlescent tinsel which is covered with cement.

      Nice, yeah it’s been around for a while. I Hadn’t heard about it until recently though. Pretty neat pattern.

      It’s a knockoff of a saltwater pattern. The body is tinsel ,the area between the 2 braid arms is filled with epoxy,rather hefty fly

    Love this pattern for Black Crappie. I like to weight it a little bit more with some lead wire a quarter back from the eyes. Chartreuse and silver seems to be the color they like.

Used to be a well known walleye lake until white perch and white bass were introduced and ate most all of the walleye fingerlings.

    I knew the creator of the fly and used this all over the Brazos river and its lakes. I also throw a propeller on these and I get a lot of hits when nothing else is working.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! Never met the guy, but he created a great pattern it seems like. A propeller might be a great option! Do you try to make it float when using it? Like stir the top with the prop?

    • @nicbracknell

    I love this video tie! Btw, how big in diameter is the mylar tubing you are using? The link you provided to it doesn't say how big it is. The reason I am asking is that I have some, but think it may be too big. Thank you!

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, the package I’ve got didn’t say. I’m sorry. I think the small to medium. The really large stuff might be too big on smaller versions but I think you can tie these much larger for bass as well. So try it on a larger hook if it doesn’t work on the smaller
