- Here are four examples of "save the cat" scenes, named by screenwriting guru Blake Snyder as a handy way to connect the main character to the viewer (or reader, if you're a novelist, like me).
In a "save the cat" scene, the main character reveals that, beneath all the flaws and moral ambiguity, he or she is a decent person worth rooting for.

Brilliant analysis of Blake Snyder's teachings (may he rest in peace). Carlito's way is another good example. Carlito chose to spare up and comer Benny Blanco's life but he ends up killing Carlito near the end of the movie anyway. Can you do more film clip style videos based on screenwriting? Thanks
Very nice filming and very good shot idea for this film story can be catching itself, for the viewer with a keen interest and getting the goal of the main theme is very important. I appreciate this idea. I have also read about this book "SAVE THE CATS" book is not with me but I can tell to see in the picture about it and consider the truth.
My favorite example is from the opening scene of Lethal Weapon 3, where Riggs (Mel Gibson) tells Murtaugh (Danny Glover) to "grab the cat":

My favorite example of "saving the cat" is from ALIEN . . . when Dallas goes into the air shaft even though it was Ripley's task. ; )

A few Saving The Cat moments I thought of from tv & film after watching this:
Legends of the Fall:
The Colonel saves his hired help by telling the government men the man they're looking for is in Hong Kong or Australia.
Tristan saves his Cherokee Native American friend by confronting the drunken bigots at the bar.
Buffy:
Buffy saves the captured & enslaved youths from the bad guys by boldly confronting the leader in 3x01 "Anne," provoking him by defying him & identifying herself so as to create a diversion, then directing everyone to escape.
Veronica Mars:
Logan saves Veronica from the irish gang, Logan saves veronica from the high school weapons stockpiler guy (who we later find is an undercover agent), Veronica saves Wallace from the biker gang who tied him to the flag pole.
Homeland:
Quinn saves his breakfast date from embarrassment & humiliation by confronting the 2 harassing jerks in the restaurant.
Really? This is what all the fuss is about? Many people can't understand that you have to simply have redeemable and irredeemable qualities in their characters?
