Unfortunately the front wheel lock can be broken if the handle bar is pushed very hard, like you mentioned... Alot of bike thieves use a Uhaul truck and pull up to your scooter/motorcycle and snatch it... Very creative video!
Never leave your scooter against a wall as they will sit on the seat, lean their back against the wall and kick the grips on the handle bars. They are always successful as to be honest anyone can do it. Don’t bother with the steering lock unless leaving it for a few mins get a disc lock alarm and a chain. If possible chain it to something.
I was sleeping outside just feet from my scooter @ 4am when I started hearing noises. It was a thief stealing my 3 wk old brand new $1,730.00 scooter & he broke my front wheel steering lock, cut my 3/4 inch chain off & ran away when I approached. I hope the warranty covers the steering lock repairs/replacement.
Beware of professional thieves. My bike was stolen from Walmart parked in the front of the store at noon with not only the steering wheel locked but disc brake lock/alarm and chained to the bike rack. The in store video showed the theft took place in less than five minutes. The thief fist cut the chain and then used duplicate or dummy keys on the steering and disc brake lock/alarm. Then drove the bike away. My new bike has all those things but I’ve added GPS tracking.
Sorry to hear of the theft of your bike. I park in the city centre, always happy to see my bike at the end of the day, I only delay the theft of my bike by the various locks and chain, they'll get it eventually but at least they'll have to work or it
I almost wrecked today, I was coming up to a major road with tons of traffic and I was in a construction zone on gravel on my scooter and I pulled The front brake lever and the brakes locked up and the scooter slid sideways and I caught it just in time before going into traffic literally a foot away from getting hit by a semi going 60mph, it was really scary
Steering wheel lock works... to a certain extent. I've seen numerous surveillance videos where scooter and motorcycle thieves break the wheel lock by simply placing their foot on the handlebar and apply pressure. The bottom line is that if someone really wants your car, scooter, motorcycle etc., they'll find a way to steal it. The steering wheel lock does work IF you add other security features to your scooter or motorcycle... add a disc brake lock, add a heavy duty u-lock, maybe a handbrake lock and activate your scooter/motorcycle's alarm. The goal is to make your vehicle unappealing to steal because breaking all the locks on it would be more work than just rolling it away.
Hello I purchased my moped Peugeot Kisbee rs in 2020 , very satisfied with it, but I am now experiencing this small problem, which is that the steering lock of the moped no longer works, someone knows how i can solve this?
I use a chain and padlock around the fork and a fixed point on the headstock, hugely difficult to attack the lock or padlock due to location of lock and chain. Works the same as a steering lock but many times more effective
sorry to say that they just pull the other way on the bars very hard and the steering lock just bends out and they can walk away with it, disc locks they use a claw hammer and bend them out. oddly what I had to do yesterday when I left mine on and fell off with 500 people watching Grrrr, after I picked up the bike and wife the disc lock key part had snapped so I could undo it but I managed to just levered it open with a small flat bar! it would seem the good old heavy lock and chain seems to slow them down the most, unless like the little gits here in the UK have a cordless disc cutter, but it does slow them down massively keep the videos coming Ninja x
@@matowixunplugged7927 If they cant get the disc lock off they cut through the disc itself. They don't give a dam about the discs condition because they are thieves....
It only takes a few seconds for 2 theifs to actually come and pick up your scooter and put it in a truck. What I wonder is if that happens what will they do when they get it home? Can it be bypassed somehow so the scooter can now be ridden by the theives? Great video 😎
kristi8431 Yeah, It's as simple as removing the panels, buying and installing a new ignition that would come with a new key. However, most of the time the thieves will either sale the scooter as is or just strip it for parts.
It's a good deterrent Only if you are in a parking lot of a busy store during the day and there are lots of people and Cameras around. You Don't want to leave your bike with this lock only in a place it's not visible to the public. If you watch enough videos you'll see how easily it is for one thief to break these built in steering locks. They pull on the right side while kicking the left side of the handlebar. Use This lock, a motion detector alarm, wheel lock with alarm, a good chain with lock And a GPS that calls the cops with the data.
Someone stornge enough could just drag it or lift it like a heavy weight just enough to put it on a trailer or something. I'd say go the extra mile and use a large or long wire lock and hook it up to a pole, leave no personal belongings except the cycle/scooter itself on it while you're gone, and in a public area so there are cameras.
Your right that is the first time I have seen someone test the bar lock. They are more useful for keeping your tire to one side so you can properly place your lock around your front wheel. Rear wheel locking is a better option on a scooter however. Even if these locks are cheap, alot of bike insurance providers won't cover you if it's not in use. Even if you have better locks on the bike. Stupid I know but check your coverage you might be surprised. All around great video, was fun watching you do donuts. 😁
Ro you are wind beneath my wings. I have bought my 50cc per your recommendation and have learned so much from your videos, thank you so much for all your advice.
Depending on policy, you may not be insured if you don't use the steering lock and your bike/scooter's stolen. Even if it's not the greatest, get into the habit of using it anyway imo.
If someone is able to lift the front of the bike for a little bit by the handels, can he go in a straight line ? If so, how difficult it is ? (Excuse me I know nothing about bike's)
Once again you're a brilliant young lady.. But, a guy of average strength could pick the scoot up and throw it in a pickup and chop it up for parts. 😲 that was done to my old Honda aero 80. 😨😤
I have a question about scooter insurance. I'm having trouble finding an insurance company that will offer full coverage on my Chinese scooter. I wanted theft protection bc I know how easily a scooter can be stolen and I live in a college town, but everyone I've gotten a quote from so far has said they only offer liability for Chinese scooters bc they don't meet the same guidelines as more "popular" brands.. Do you have full coverage on your scooter and if so what company did you use? Thanks a lot!
I have basic liability insurance through the dealership I purchase my scooter from. However, for my last scooter the (Chinese scooter) I was with Geico Insurance and they offered me theft insurance. However, the amount I would have to pay for the insurance was more the the scooter was worth. I paid like $900 something for the scooter and Geico wanted to charge me $3000 for 1 year of theft insurance. My advice is to just invest into a really heavy duty lock & chain or a GPS Tracking System (So if it ever did get taken you can locate it easily)
Wow, that's $300 a month! That's crazy!! Thanks so much for the info. I'll check Geico just to cover all my bases. The GPS tracking is a good idea. I'll definitely be checking into that! Thanks again!

Hey Shauna! I got my scooter yesterday, check out the video on my channel. Yay! I'll be on the lookout for that video! Also, I just returned home from a 54 mile round trip in back road moderate traffic, the only thing I'm somewhat shaky on is right turns...ish, I need to go practice those in a lonely parking lot...
cute video but that's maybe more to do with the cute girl !!! but seriously steering locks are way to easy to break, so I use 2 chains that are harden steel and will stop all but the most massive bolt cutters and a huge cable lock too and a front disk lock plus the steering lock and I normally lock it to a large object like a supermarket lol no all that won't guarantee your scooter won't be stolen but it will make your bike a pain in the butt to steal, as it will take a good 5 minutes to cut them all, so the thief will look for a easier scooter to steal now if I could get on at a good price I'd use born carbide chains that would make the bike theft proof as without industrial cutting equipment the chains would just laugh at the thief's angle grinders as the cutting discs wear out rather than the chain being cut
