sitting in a cemetary next to my pops, missing him everday. today is my 30th birthday and I have never felt do alone in my life. a lot of the songs from gsc hold such indestructible memories and nostalgia behind them, timeless transportation to much simpler times. Happiness is there, I just have to apply myself and venture onward. Gary Oak's words: Ash, there is a time and a place for everything!
hey, 33 year old here. my dad died around 5 years ago, so i know exactly what you mean. I often stand by his grave too, sometimes driving to the cemetary even in the middle of the night. I am very depressed right now, stuck in my job having burn-out symptoms and getting shamed for it by colleagues and stuff. Really thinking about leaving it all behind and starting something new... When i was 10 years old, one evenening my dad brought me pokemon silver on his way home from work. i had a magical childhood thanks to my parents, my friends and all these special games, especially nintendo ones. these memories are like a refuge these days and i feel thankful to at least having had a great youth.
all has been well, the year has surprisingly started off quite well have been managing, still some ups and downs but again, still here and making some changes in my day to day, that is all we can do, work on ourselves day by day. Really hoping you both yourselves find happier days and stronger selves.
make sure if you do make the leap into a new start that you yourself are certain this will benefit you and your lifestyle and environment. environment especially. nit every day is meant to be sad and ofc not every day is going to be happy, but those in between moments where we learn or gain something from the experience is soul satisfying. Some just can't comprehend depression and burn out bc they themselves have not been in a similar spot or experience which is fine, the focus is you and what you are going to do. Wishing you the best, rooting for you! (Silver's mom usually says that)
Crystal will always have a special place in my heart. When I was playing this as a kid, being able to play as the girl protagonist felt so significant. It was one of the first times I felt I could really imagine myself in the game, I was so immersed. It seems like such a simple option, but gosh representation is so important, especially for kids. About 20 years later, I still remember the feeling of playing through Johto as if it was a place I've actually visited before.
Both are great. Besides wasn’t the composer the same guy. I’m guessing how the HGSS one ended was how he imagined it, and this was he originally had to stick with. The melody is nice regardless.
I recently went back to SS to help my little cousin get the shiny charm in Y (he wanted to try to chain certain Kalos Pokémon). Had to put on the 8-bit sounds device to tolerate some areas in Johto… HeartGold and SoulSilver cannot compare to Gold and Silver.
HGSS got nothing on the originals. Im sick of people worshipping them. Give me my gameboy color and my Crystal version. The greatest pokemon game ever made
It truly was a simpler time for us. Our perception of life went no further than the un-hidden pleasures our carers and guardians gave us. Take me back to the day when I was sheltered from the truth of the world.
The nostalgia hits me so strong with this song. I wish I could go back to that time in my life, playing this game as a kid with no problems or worries.
This song reminds me of after I do a long hard session of training (swimming for me to be precise), I'd walk home during the evening and see all the sunsetting sights and nice beach views because I live right beside the sea I get nice views, and then I take this shortcut through a park near me and all the flowers there make it even more beautiful to look at, sometimes I just sit there and stare at it for ages.
Remind's me of my childhood. when i was about 9 years old in 2001. I was in the 2nd grade. Back when my grandfather was still alive. he used to travel alot, so whenever he'd go to singapore or hong kong he'd buy me the latest games, etc. he used to take me out to eat at all these old restaurants with his close friends that were 100 times my age, but i'd still crack jokes and laugh with them, even though they were having fun flirting with the women in public with their wives around. i hardly really hung out with kids my age except a chosen few. i mostly hung out with old folk. boy do i miss him. he used to tease the waitress and waiters everytime.
***** I wouldn't be going on a page with a song i grew up with, commenting about what it reminded me of, if it wasn't true. And it's not rubbish. It's my childhood. maybe this "rubbish" you speak of is a reflection of your life.
+Grahame Luck Enjoy the music don't knock people for reminiscing on good memories. I used to kill my batteries at night using this track to get me ready for bed, then came along the battery packs you could plug up lol
Played this for months as a kid. Just played it on an Emulator a few months before. Good old times and memories. The time where no one had internet, and you had to find out anything by yourself
Ryan Buchanan The problem was, i didnt even knew about them at that time. There were 100 of myths catching legendary Pokemon and i wasted hours to find out how.
BBDeathz Or hearing rumors back at school or somewhere else, that there is a secret Pokemon or a secret area here and there. And i searched hours of hours trying to find these non existing Pokemon or areas. You couldn't just google where to find the Red Garados, Suicune etc. you had to play the game until you found it out yourself. No Online Multiplayer, nothing. But you could sit there and enjoy fighting against NPCs for months wthout it getting boring. Better times, where games actually had a heart and a soul and weren't there just to make the biggest money possible. And i was hyping every Pokemon Game or Gameboy that came out at that time for months. Today you buy a game, play it 10 minutes and that was it. Things back then were simpler.
***** I miss those days. When I was little everybody played, but my friend was the only kid on the block with the link cable so we had to go to his house to trade any of our Pokemon or battle, haha. Good times.
I will always come back to this whenever it feels like fall. Especially sitting outside when it’s cold with clouds, with pumpkin spice coffee in hand. It’s wonderful, and it’s the little things.
Such beautiful nostalgia. Remember being a kid and this being just the best thing in the world to you? Nothing else mattered. There were no troubles, there were no worries, there were no responsibilities. Just being a kid, having fun with your Gameboy and Pokemon :)
Its just after christmas 1999, your parents got you a copy of pokemon gold for christmas and you first arrive in this city and you listen to this song for the very first time. you play in a dark room with your desk lamp on, shining light on to your gameboy. Life was good.
When I'm listening this, I can't help remembering that magical vibe I felt playing this game when I was like 7. I honestly thought Pokémon were real somewhere in the world, and that every moment was peaceful and enjoyable in my life. Aaah, good innocent times :')
Ever notice how when you were little this song was cool and interesting, and it provided an excellent change of tone after the hustle and bustle of the first three Gyms, giving you a moment to realize you've made it quite far, far enough for the legendary dogs to appear give you the choice of left or right. And now, whenever you hear it, remembering those wonderful days when Swinub was a new and interesting pokemon, it makes you want to cry.
I grew up around the time of the remakes of this game, but I can just picture it now. It's a quiet summer evening in 2000, and you and the boys are enjoying these games and having the times of your lives, enjoying your childhoods while your parents complain in the background about the Y2K thing and how the world's going to end...
This reminds me of being a child, sitting there with no worries in the world, playing Pokémon, without planning out teams thoroughly, worrying about having perfect natures or movesets, not knowing where to go next, just playing the damn game however I'd like, without a guide. Oh how I wish I could be a kid again.
you can still ignore the complex stuff like EVs, IVs and natures while still managing to get through the game. EVs and IVs were in the game since '96, but millions of players back then didnt know they even existend, but still pushed through. I find it to be satisfying to look at the IVs, etc. of my team, as it is the most effective way to get though the game, while also making it very pleasing to see my somewhat unnecessary hard work paying off.
I'm pretty sure I was born after these games' release, but they still have a very special place in my heart due to a hand-me-down copy. I honestly think they might be a masterpiece, nothing is as comfy as Johto and comfy is one thing Pokemon does so, so well.
Memories....*sighs and wipes away tear in eyes...* Oh, my poor Silver and Gold games who I had so many fond memories with and they deleted their data. :.( R.I.P. Gold version 2000-2012. You lived a long life, my old friend. Pokemon has always been more than a game to me on a screen, it's been a life-long friend, a place where I could live out my dreams and I'm not ashamed to say Pokemon taught me so many valuable lessons.....I won't cry....I won't....
Yeah, but I didn't get mine until 2000. And forget what I said about them being defunct, now my Gold had its batteries changed and is working just fine again.
This tune is so gently nostalgic....it's like my childhood became a person who came just gave me the sweetest hug :( It was always one of my favorites!
Pokémon has currently sold the largest amount of games in any video game series, second only to Mario. And considering Mario had a 10 year head start, Pokémon will eventually surpass even it. How does your precious Call of Duty rank? It will never compare to the greatness of Pokémon. Ever.
i play pokemon since i am a little child, now i am 18 years old and play sometimes pokemon because this is my dream world and will be forever my childhood♥️
This song bring so much memories from my childhood. Being a kid in the early 2000's was a blessing for me because of this game (which was my very first pokémon games at the time) and because of it i made many friends and played all day long, this was a joy to play ahh i wish i could go back and re-exprience this game for the first time again.
BBDeathz Yeah tbh as a kid for me it was a bit hard to make friends and only a few that played Pokémon back then but even so i found myself that there were kids that enjoyed the same things as i do
GSC was far from the first Gen I played. I went through RSE, FRLG, DPPt before having the great fortune of discovering Gold on a plane flight. I remember that every single time I entered a new city (Violet onward), I got so blown away by the music that I just stopped and listened in shock. Ecruteak had me gaping and letting it loop at least 3 times before I pressed another button. I like GSC music the best across all gens. No nostalgia factor here. Just plain-ass appreciation.
Even if i cant play anymore, i will always fondly remember the time i spend on this game. Doesnt matter whether i was 10 or 100 in the future, because there is something that not even time can change: memories.
You could always play the superior remakes of them for the DS. I find that they will give you nostalgic feelings in a different way, not through looking and sounding exactly the same, but as more fully realized version of those games with fewer limitations holding its performance back. I felt that way when I finally got ORAS after playing Emerald as a kid, and the nostalgic feelings were immense, but no longer just nostalgia was there, but also the feeling of "yes, this game was made better". I have not really played the original GSC much, as my only experience with it was a bit through an emulator, but I am getting Gold in a few days.
I just finally got around to playing these older games, it really makes me wish i had pokemon games like this when i was younger. The music GSC is almost unrivaled by any generation.
+CactusFlims i consider gen 1 and gen 2 the same gen....they are story related after all,gsc is sequels to rby, unlike saphire black etc...which are just new additions
I get that Pokémon music is great. But how can this one track be so amazing? I often find myself booting up Crystal and I'm standing in Ecruteak because I went to sleep with the music on in the background. It's one of the most beautiful compositions, not just in video-game music, but ever. It's delightful in every way.
15 years have passed already, countless hours on the sofa playing, running AAA batteries till dry, so many memories, so many things, guess it's ok to shed a couple of tears

I just came to this TH-cam page and heard this theme, I immediately started crying because of how this song meant to me in 2020, I was going through a rough patch because I lost a close relative to Covid, pokemon was my guilty pleasure and I was so excited reaching ecruteak and hearing this theme, now it’s 2024, 4 years later and I still lover pokemon but I really wish I could go back in time and hear this song for the first time again on my gameboy color
This gave me chills man I was so fucking young when I played this going on long car rides with my dad passing out on the couch and where the fuck did my life go down the drain.😢
I remember going into the gym and I just kept on falling down.... I had to go into school the next day and get instructions from this girl, I wrote them down and everything lol Can't believe I remember such small details like that after all these years.... Ah memories man
Everything about this game is so unique and perfect it brings a lot of nostalgia. This is one of the reason i still love pokemon games, music, story, just memorable memorys. I still stand by this, lol came back cause this song also sounds like gusty garden from Mario galaxy
This. This is what 8-bit music can be like. It is made so complicated, with strong beats, these days. It's not realised enough that you can also make simple music with those three notes. Because simple music stays in our hearts for longer. Of course this is mostly nostalgia, but new chiptunes will never be as good as music from these old Pokémon games - since the composers now simply don't think about making real music like Junichi Masuda and Go Ichinose did.
+Teun Buwalda no its 8 bit trust me the gameboy colors hardware specs are really close to the nes so it is 8bit 4bit dosent exist only 6bit and 8bit and so on
i will never experience this like people did. i wasn't born in 2000 when the game came out in america. my first game was heartgold. i will never be able to go back to previous generations because a. i don't even have a gameboy anymore b. it's just so... different. i need to play my pokemon blue, but i never can. i wasn't even allowed to get pokemon until i was like 10. hope ya'll enjoy your nostalgia trip.
I just got to this town in Crystal and shed a tear of nostalgia after having not heard it since I was a kid. Always been my favorite town, it's just so comforting to me
I can't believe. 14 years later. this song still gets under my skin, and everyone else's. It's such a peaceful song, and honestly, I cry every time I hear it. So many memories, such beauty. so wonderful..
Something about this piece that’s epic and calm. Helps me get over the bad things in life. Hell it’s so relaxing that I had it play in the background while I was sleeping.

@@dragnalus787 It's been 4 years. Still a kid? Did you enjoy your childhood?
sitting in a cemetary next to my pops, missing him everday. today is my 30th birthday and I have never felt do alone in my life. a lot of the songs from gsc hold such indestructible memories and nostalgia behind them, timeless transportation to much simpler times. Happiness is there, I just have to apply myself and venture onward. Gary Oak's words: Ash, there is a time and a place for everything!
Late HBD! Hope all is going good
hey, 33 year old here. my dad died around 5 years ago, so i know exactly what you mean.

The memories of being in the Pokémon world and not worrying about anything in reality. This music takes me to a very feely place
It’s been 2 months. Welcome back to your happy place.
@@nuui2hou playing through these games again! It’s been fun!
@@dustyandsneezing oh, that’s great to hear!! :D
Heals us to the core...
I was just a kid back when I used to play this... Now I am a soon to be father. :,)
make sure to have your kids playing this amazing game!
The HGSS version of this song doesn't hit as hard as the original. Incredible how they put out such amazing music on an 8 bit soundchip.
Both are great. Besides wasn’t the composer the same guy. I’m guessing how the HGSS one ended was how he imagined it, and this was he originally had to stick with. The melody is nice regardless.
I agree about Ecruteak maybe not hitting as hard, but I feel the Cianwood version is definitely up there. Phenomenal music, both GSC and HGSS
Some of HGSS bgms sounds like completely different music compared to the original version for me. That's why I prefer og version.
The greatest pokemon game ever made
Well boys looks like we're all in the high velocity feelstorm section of youtube
I will never forgot dreaming about finding and catching Raikou,Suicune and Enteu for days and days as a kid and this song was always there. LEGENDARY
memory of this when i was a kid,mom and dad love me...the world is.so simple...i love pokemon and my family..nostalgia
aint that the truth :)
+magicpen6666 - yupp miss the simple days
It truly was a simpler time for us. Our perception of life went no further than the un-hidden pleasures our carers and guardians gave us.
Take me back to the day when I was sheltered from the truth of the world.
Joy tear ;,)
lol....i am now 27...hell...times goes faster n faster but my language still sucks
The nostalgia hits me so strong with this song. I wish I could go back to that time in my life, playing this game as a kid with no problems or worries.
I am almost 30 now and this Song gives me my 8 year old boy feeling Back. Thank you for making my childhood special …. ❤️ greetings from Germany …
Genuinely one of the best pieces of music ever written. Just breathtakingly beautiful.
There will never again be anything like the first two generations of Pokémon.
it isn't only nostalgia. this game is almost perfect, the musics are awesome and fit perfectly, and the game was so funny
agreeeeeeeee
Almost? It was perfect.
***** Sorry, you're right :D
+Dan I freaked out when I got to the Red battle, lol
The game was too easy, I will say that much. It's not hard to just stomp through this game casually.
Beautifully put :)
That was just... so right. ^-^
Like that if you cry every time.
Seriously. ;-;
glad to know you exists. 😊
I feel you, when I listen to it I almost cry..
*****
I wouldn't be going on a page with a song i grew up with, commenting about what it reminded me of, if it wasn't true. And it's not rubbish. It's my childhood. maybe this "rubbish" you speak of is a reflection of your life.
+Grahame Luck Got a stick up yours much bro?
+Grahame Luck Enjoy the music don't knock people for reminiscing on good memories. I used to kill my batteries at night using this track to get me ready for bed, then came along the battery packs you could plug up lol
National Park is a good one too!
Played this for months as a kid.
Just played it on an Emulator a few months before.
Good old times and memories.
The time where no one had internet, and you had to find out anything by yourself
Not with Nintendo Power, you didn't!
Ryan Buchanan
The problem was, i didnt even knew about them at that time.
There were 100 of myths catching legendary Pokemon and i wasted hours to find out how.
You poor creature. :'(
BBDeathz
Or hearing rumors back at school or somewhere else, that there is a secret Pokemon or a secret area here and there.
Good times.
How many memories from this tune... Childhood days I wish I could live once again..
I will always come back to this whenever it feels like fall. Especially sitting outside when it’s cold with clouds, with pumpkin spice coffee in hand. It’s wonderful, and it’s the little things.
15 years later, this song makes me tear up and reminisce to simpler times
Such beautiful nostalgia. Remember being a kid and this being just the best thing in the world to you? Nothing else mattered. There were no troubles, there were no worries, there were no responsibilities. Just being a kid, having fun with your Gameboy and Pokemon :)
Its just after christmas 1999, your parents got you a copy of pokemon gold for christmas and you first arrive in this city and you listen to this song for the very first time. you play in a dark room with your desk lamp on, shining light on to your gameboy. Life was good.
24 years later and onwards, this theme song still keep repeating in ur head.
Life ain’t treating me to good but this makes me feel like life is simple again, just like when I was young.
Hope life is treating you better
When I'm listening this, I can't help remembering that magical vibe I felt playing this game when I was like 7.
I honestly thought Pokémon were real somewhere in the world, and that every moment was peaceful and enjoyable in my life.
Aaah, good innocent times :')
I think it's so dope that Post Malone used this in his newest song, its probably one of the most nostalgic songs from the game for me
Ever notice how when you were little this song was cool and interesting, and it provided an excellent change of tone after the hustle and bustle of the first three Gyms, giving you a moment to realize you've made it quite far, far enough for the legendary dogs to appear give you the choice of left or right. And now, whenever you hear it, remembering those wonderful days when Swinub was a new and interesting pokemon, it makes you want to cry.
I grew up around the time of the remakes of this game, but I can just picture it now. It's a quiet summer evening in 2000, and you and the boys are enjoying these games and having the times of your lives, enjoying your childhoods while your parents complain in the background about the Y2K thing and how the world's going to end...
having too much to drink + feeling nostalgic + thinking about your childhood and how pure it was = tears
I still don't worry about these things
This games ost will be played at my funeral

I'm pretty sure I was born after these games' release, but they still have a very special place in my heart due to a hand-me-down copy. I honestly think they might be a masterpiece, nothing is as comfy as Johto and comfy is one thing Pokemon does so, so well.
Art. This song is so wonderful. One of my favorites in the entire library.
Wow. I had totally forgotten about this theme. This was one of my favorite songs in the game way back then. Very pretty song. (:
I know right, it's such a beautiful piece :)
One of those special tunes that take you home, where it's cozy and worry-free.
I just stared at my team for an extra minute listening to the music. Beautiful theme.

Memories....*sighs and wipes away tear in eyes...* Oh, my poor Silver and Gold games who I had so many fond memories with and they deleted their data. :.(
Gold version (Pocket Monsters Kin) was released 1999.
Yeah, but I didn't get mine until 2000. And forget what I said about them being defunct, now my Gold had its batteries changed and is working just fine again.
I can't stop yo cry when I listen this theme, my childhood when I was 9 years old!!! 😢😢🥲🥲🥲😭😭😭
This tune is so gently nostalgic....it's like my childhood became a person who came just gave me the sweetest hug :(
It was always one of my favorites!
I often come back here to contemplate those beautiful years. This make me feel so grateful.
Pokémon has currently sold the largest amount of games in any video game series, second only to Mario. And considering Mario had a 10 year head start, Pokémon will eventually surpass even it. How does your precious Call of Duty rank? It will never compare to the greatness of Pokémon. Ever.
This is what visiting your childhood neighborhood on a chilly day in late autumn sounds like
i play pokemon since i am a little child, now i am 18 years old and play sometimes pokemon because this is my dream world and will be forever my childhood♥️
This song bring so much memories from my childhood. Being a kid in the early 2000's was a blessing for me because of this game (which was my very first pokémon games at the time) and because of it i made many friends and played all day long, this was a joy to play ahh i wish i could go back and re-exprience this game for the first time again.
BBDeathz Yeah tbh as a kid for me it was a bit hard to make friends and only a few that played Pokémon back then but even so i found myself that there were kids that enjoyed the same things as i do
BBDeathz I agree.
I'm gonna stay here a while. :)
This game had such a good soundtrack.
I still remember listening to this channel back in late 2008 and 2009 when I was in middle school...glad its still here
GSC was far from the first Gen I played.
This puts me right back to like 2008, summer time, sitting around playing pokemon silver.
Oh how i wish i could go back to elementary school and just savor each moment a little bit more.
Man this video was uploaded in 2008, 12 YEAR AGO this makes nostalgia AF
I get that Pokémon music is great. But how can this one track be so amazing? I often find myself booting up Crystal and I'm standing in Ecruteak because I went to sleep with the music on in the background. It's one of the most beautiful compositions, not just in video-game music, but ever. It's delightful in every way.
15 years have passed already, countless hours on the sofa playing, running AAA batteries till dry, so many memories, so many things, guess it's ok to shed a couple of tears

Thanks, I appreciate this a lot.
The fact that all these blips and chips bring back so much nostalgia and good times is incredible.
I only recently finished pokemon crystal, but I love how chill it was. And this music definitely takes the cake.
I played this game so many times and I every single time I was hoping to get to this city the sooner I could.
Few pieces of game music are absolutely timeless. This is one of those few.
Why does it hurt to know that nothing lasts foreverÉ
The fact that nothing lasts forever is what makes it special and precious and to be cherished.

Ha when the best thing to do was play Pokemon over grandma house on the porch on a sunny day with my cousins ha this really opens my heart to some Amazingly simple memories.
I just came to this TH-cam page and heard this theme, I immediately started crying because of how this song meant to me in 2020, I was going through a rough patch because I lost a close relative to Covid, pokemon was my guilty pleasure and I was so excited reaching ecruteak and hearing this theme, now it’s 2024, 4 years later and I still lover pokemon but I really wish I could go back in time and hear this song for the first time again on my gameboy color
going back and re-playing it will never be the same, these were the days
I have lived long enough to hear this song on the radio.
This gave me chills man I was so fucking young when I played this going on long car rides with my dad passing out on the couch and where the fuck did my life go down the drain.😢
I remember going into the gym and I just kept on falling down.... I had to go into school the next day and get instructions from this girl, I wrote them down and everything lol
Can't believe I remember such small details like that after all these years.... Ah memories man
This man released all these bangers 15 years ago and then just dipped.
Ah man it hurts and feels good at the same time, love that bittersweet nostalgic feeling! Thank you for sharing and sending my back 24 years
Everything about this game is so unique and perfect it brings a lot of nostalgia.
Was it 8 bit? I thought the Game Boy only managed 4 bit music. I might be wrong though
Whoops, it might actually be 4-bit. My bad.
+Teun Buwalda no its 8 bit trust me the gameboy colors hardware specs are really close to the nes so it is 8bit 4bit dosent exist only 6bit and 8bit and so on

I can't believe. 14 years later. this song still gets under my skin, and everyone else's. It's such a peaceful song, and honestly, I cry every time I hear it. So many memories, such beauty. so wonderful..
I don't care if I get hate because of this opinion, but this is my favorite Pokémon city music.
You're not the only one, I love this theme myself ^^
This is one of my favorite pokemon songs. It's so rich in sound with just a few simple 8bit instruments. So much emotion
Something about this piece that’s epic and calm. Helps me get over the bad things in life. Hell it’s so relaxing that I had it play in the background while I was sleeping.
Thanks for letting me play your gameboy, i miss you big bro.
