The quality of the calf skin on take down models isn’t how it is on top end models. Leather quality on the same type of leather can be vastly different.
A lot of Italian leather boots have been constructed with calf leather over the years. It's not the type of leather, but the quality and treatment it gets when building the boot.
For a long time I have been looking for a boot that is designed for a really wide foot. This means that they should not only have an upper that stretches or that is already wide enough from the factory, but more importantly, they should have a wide enough sole. The vast majority of the shoes mentioned in the rankings don't do this. For example, the Copa Mundial has a decent amount of stretch (although the toe box end is still quite narrow), but the narrow sole then causes the foot to fall over the edge and therefore doesn't feel stable. If you want a really wide shoe, I recommend ordering the Monarcida neo III model from Mizuno directly from Japan, which they offer there in wide and even super wide options. There is a kangaroo leather class as well as some synthetic leather. I have a really wide foot + high instep and that's why I ordered the super wide variant. I chose the slightly cheaper synthetic leather because I want to use it as a training shoe and hopefully the synthetic will last more + is a little cheaper. The very first time I put it on, I was absolutely surprised at how wide the shoe is (and roomy for a high instep) and how beautifully my foot fits in it. The sole is wide enough too. Gloro, Mundial, NB 442, Tiempo and other shoes that rank in the "for wide feet" charts don't compare at all.
100% this! An accomodating upper does not make a wide boot unless you are just talking about a high volume foot! I have a lower end Monarcida Neo Wide, and a lower end Asics Ultrezza wide model. Those are both actually wide unlike the Morelia 2s I have which are great but not actually wide. And to be clear, my foot is only a 2E, not super wide
while the copa mundial upper is amazing for wide feet, it has one of the narrowest soleplates and the back studs are so close to each other that it makes these boots the most dangerous on the market for ankles, stability is terrible for wide feet. If you have wide feet and don't like to roll your ankles, run away from the copa mundial
I have very wide feet and have always gotten bad blisters. The predator accuracys are hands down best fit with the responsive feel I've ever had. Haven't tried the newer models yet, but if I can still get accuracys from eBay, that's what I'll be wearing for a while.
For the accuracy I went regular size, but for the 24 and 25 preds I went half of size up and they're perfect, so I'd recommend doing that too if you have very wide feet and want to try the new models.
I’m 260lbs and have 113mm feet width and tried the majority of these boots some of which i couldn’t even get my foot into. The BEST boots that fit me and broke in almost instantly were the 2025 predator elite due to the way the material stretches. It’s wild that they aren’t in this list
Can we have the same video but for boots under 100$ please, most people don't want to spend more than that especially when you play occasionally or once a week with friends.
Do you think boots have gotten significantly more narrow in recent years? I’ve had so many issues recently trying to find boots that fit. I’ve tried top end Tiempo, Phantom, Morelia. I now have 442 v2 with the wide fit but it’s such a shame to have such little choice, especially no Nike options. Used to be strictly Tiempos, so gutted they went to non-leather.
Yes and no. I think having less leather options is a contributing factor to most boots seemingly having a tighter fit. I also think the popularity of “speed” boots has driven brands to make boots fit a little tighter to give the perception of a boot feeling “faster”. It still very much depends on the specific boot though.
Nike always fits too narrow for me, especially in the toe box. That's why I usually wear Adidas. There's so much more room in the toe box for me. What's up with all the pointy-toed football boots from Nike? So uncomfortable.@@Soccerreviewsforyou
I would like to add one of my own recommendation: Puma Future 7 Match I had tried the 2024 Adidas F50 League and it was still a bit tight. But the Puma Future 7 Match fit me PERFECTLY !
I have very thick and wide feet, I've rolled my ankles because of narrow soleplates so many times it's crazy, for me the mizuno alpha (both japan and elite models) have the most stable soleplate I've ever tried, been playing in them for over a year and I forgot how it is to roll my ankle, I bought 4 pairs, by far the best boots I ever tried.
@@Mikepereich I was talking about the Mizuno alpha, you're totally right about the morelia neo 4 beta, they're the narrowest boots Mizuno ever made, I can't play in those, but the alphas are a completely different story.
Morelia neo beta are amazing but they're the narrowest of the bunch, Vapors are second narrowest and they're an acquired taste due to the Air zoom unit, I like my soleplates to be more stiff, the Phantom GX do not buy the FG version if you have wide feet, the back studs are weird and don't offer stability, very high risk to roll your ankles, go for the AG version it's a lot better for wide feet. I tried the Messi F50's and had no complaints on those.
In general, yes. If you're flat footed, you'll typically want a little extra width through the mid-foot in order to avoid that cramped, almost pinchy feel. Pretty well all of these boots would be a solid choice for flatter foot types.
I'm either 29.5 cm or 30 cm in all the boots on the market. A 30 cm boot by adidas and nike is exactly the same length as a 29.5 cm Mizuno (any model, I tried almost all of them) same for Puma boots it's 29.5. So if you wear Puma buy the same size for Mizuno, or if you wear Adidas or Nike get half of size down for the Alpha.
They’re not necessarily new. It’s just another limited re-release of the Wave Cup Legends. They’re some of the greatest boots ever IMO, so it’s shame they weren’t made available globally. If you can get your hands on a pair, they’re amazing, but they’re otherwise the same boots they remade almost 7 years ago. Here’s my video on it th-cam.com/video/_fRmNVdwo3w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_zTLp360IwM6c8SS
Both are two of the best Mercs ever IMO. I would say it's more so a matter of personal preference, rather than one being better than the other. If you like more grip on the ball, you'd prefer the 16. If you're not a fan of extra grip, you'd probably prefer the 13.
Does the mizuno Morelia neo 2 Japan have a softer leather than the one on the Mizuno Morelia neo IV Japan? Also does the mizuno Morelia neo 2 have a wider toebox area than the Morelia Neo 4?
The Morelia feels that little bit softer because the leather is a smidge thicker, but both are incredibly soft. The fit of the Morelia 2 in general is wider than the Neos 👍
Hey Jobriamiah, hope you’re all good! I had a question, I found a pair of Tiempo Legend 5 elites and Tiempo Legend 9 elite for a similar price. Which one would you go for? I haven’t had any experience with either, so yeah. Thanks!
Both are amazing, but the Legend 5 is one of my all-time favorites boots! If you’re playing in them though, depending on how the boots were stored, Legend 9s might be the better choice in terms of durability. Legend 5s are 10 years old now
Anyone know what the grip is like of the Sokkito Scudetta. Torn between those and the Sketcher razors, but have heard in wet conditions that those can be slippy. Can anyone help?
Pure 3s offer more width and volume through the forefoot and toe box area, and generally feel a lot softer than the fusionskin Preds IMO. They’re both excellent boots, but also different in regards to the experience they each provide.
Ironically, this video just popped up as I’ve been lounging around in my pyjamas all night whilst also wearing my new Predator 25 Elite to try and break them in due to my wide feet. I sized up a half size and there is some room around toe box but they just feel cramped and as if they won’t bend and stretch when I run as I cover a lot of kilometres on the wing. Heel lockdown is poor which requires the laces being tied tight which further restricts movement. Stunning boots but synthetic material can never match leather. I was wearing Mizuno MIJ yesterday but typically wear Nike Mercurial Vapour (current elite version and 13 tech craft leather) which do stretch. Can anyone vouch from experience that these will expand after a game or so?
They’ll give a little in regards to width, but won’t stretch a lot. If you’re having to go up in size to accommodate the width of your feet, that’s typically a sign that they’re likely not a great choice for you. That’s not to say that you couldn’t get used to how they feel, but at this point with they way boots are designed, they should feel pretty comfortable straight out of the box
They do expand, I’ve got them. My feet worth are 113mm and mine are sooooo nice to wear now. I did a couple of feet and boots in Warm water just upto the laces so didn’t get inside wet and they broke in a dream
@@GSS0410 maybe it's the lacing? When I tried the f50 messi I had a hardtime putting my feet into the shoe bc the lace starts too far away from the tow box, hard for me to even put my feet into it.
@@zl721 do you mean from a width perspective? The toe box does have a low volume. I don't struggle to get my foot in, but my big toe does rub against the upper
@@RagingMist I guess the toe box is high engouh for my big toe, it's just that the way the lacing system build does not allow me to strecth the very begining of the lace area to fit my feet.
Future 8 Ultimate is not wide, and the King Ultimate has some decent width, but I don't think is anywhere near as good as the 10 other boots I listed in this video.

Hey Josh, is the alpha more shaped like the morelia neos or the morelia 2? 6:49
Neither, to be honest
