Leading and Supporting the Alabama Literacy Act

This session was originally presented November of 2023.
This session is designed for instructional leaders who are new to K-3 education in Alabama and new local reading specialists. It is also refresher on the ABCs of the Alabama Literacy Act!
Dr. Melanie Glover and Mr. Ken Kirby present this professional learning session that focuses on implementation of the Alabama Literacy Act. This informative session highlights the steps necessary to build structures at the local level that support implementation of the ALA. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of the Alabama Literacy Act and its influence on classroom instruction, student achievement, and professional learning. In addition, the session will inform participants about the development of Student Reading Improvement Plans (SRIPs) and about the Literacy Act Portfolio process.
